KP's Series begins here!

It's an international rules variation built around THIS 26-box board...

1p
5p
10p
50p
£1
£5
£10
£25
£50
£100
£250
£500
£750

£1,000
£2,000
£3,000
£5,000
£10,000
£15,000
£20,000
£35,000
£50,000
£75,000
£100,000
£150,000
£250,000

You'll have to make predictions for the first three offers, and in doing so, you will be taking away options from Box 3^3...

Triple, Double, +£10,000
Money Back, Car, Viewer Prize
Half, Quarter, Nothing

Our debut player is STEPHEN - and, as per international rules, he gets to choose his own box before taking six to start.

I'll pick box #3, as I'm sure is no surprise to anyone.

And select 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21 to start.

The triple trouble begins!

6 - £5! That's the way to begin proceedings!
9 - £1,000. Looks worse than it is with that colour.
12 - £50! We are halfway to a super start...
15 - £750! And it keeps getting better!
18 - £250! Can you believe this?
21 - £20,000. It's disappointing only in comparison - that is a very positive opening round indeed!

1p
5p
10p
50p
£1
£10
£25
£100
£500

£2,000
£3,000
£5,000
£10,000
£15,000
£35,000
£50,000
£75,000
£100,000
£150,000
£250,000

Because there's no opening round precedent here, the Banker's giving you one; if that last box had been the 1p, he'd have offered you over £8,000.

Make your first guess!

Good opening round, the entirety of the power five is remaining, and only two reds, but all of the Banker's power 5 are also still remaining...

PLAYER'S PREDICTION

£7400

Is it in there?

BANKER'S OFFER

£7,500

Sure is! That's within the 7.5% band easily, so a random blue option is now removed... pick 1-3 to choose

There were 3 items in your list. Here they are in random order:

Quarter
Nothing
Half

So that's Half removed from your 3^3 options...

£7,500, Deal or No Deal?

A perfectly reasonable offer for this stage of the game, but no deal all the same.

24, 1, 4, 7, 10.

Good thing you're allowed to use a calculator here, because a 7.5% band is a LOT harder to figure out than a 10% band.

Half of 15%. Which is 10% + 5%.

Or 5% + 2.5%.

Basically like you used to calculate VAT before it went to 20%; 10% + 5% + 2.5%, all doable in your head as long as you remember the numbers you're up to as you go along (Which is where I struggle with mental arithmetic)

But, yes, so nice to be able to use calculators.

24 - 5p! Wow, this is getting ominously good...
1 - 1p! What is going on here? Did you see the spreadsheet first?!?
4 - £5,000. Disposable, especially in this state of play...
7 - £500! This is frighteningly good...
10 - £10! I don't know how many games of this we play, but we will surely never see a 15-box as good as this one...

10p
50p
£1
£25
£100

£2,000
£3,000
£10,000
£15,000
£35,000
£50,000
£75,000
£100,000
£150,000
£250,000

Make your guess... the Banker's done with helping you!

Yep, with a calculator all you have to do is either determine a ceiling (the top amount you think the offer could be) and multiply it by 0.925 or determine a floor (the lowest amount you think the offer could be) and multiply it by 1.075 .

I can figure out 10% bands in my head a lot faster as all you have to do is remove a decimal place from the floor/ceiling and add/subtract it from that amount.

Using £15,000 as a floor, I'd predict £16,100.

I think at that point that may as well have been an all blue round, and the worst two boxes have gone...

Hmm...

PLAYER'S PREDICTION

£13,785

Using the £15,000 as a ceiling instead, I see.

Let's see how the Banker plays it

The offer...

BANKER'S OFFER

£15,000

The 7.5% band from there... goes down to £13,875, so you're £90 out! Pick 1-3 to choose which of the purple options go - it's possible that one of them will be worse than one of the blues are...

Even I was mislead that Stephen's prediction was the lower end of the 7.5% £15,000 pffer band.

Just goes to show how important it is to have a calculator on this version!
