Quite odd but is it more than likely were going to see Thriller or Billie Jean at the top of the charts this week?

Almost certainly going to see some post-humous Number Ones now

Currently there are 31 songs which include Michael Jackson in the top 100 songs today. The highest is 'Man In The Mirror' at number 11.

The top 10 remain untouched now and the top 5 consist of:-

La Roux - Bulletproof
David Guetta feat. Kelly Rowland - When Love Takes Over
Lady Gaga - Paparazzi
Keri Hilson feat. Kanye West and Ne-Yo - Knock You Down
Agnes - Release Me.

Man In The Mirror is now #2 on iTunes, followed by Billie Jean at 13, Thriller and Beat it at 17 and 18 respectively... I think it's more to watch out for these next week.

1. La Roux - Bulletproof.
2. David Guetta feat. Kelly Rowland - When Love Takes Over.
3. The Black Eyed Peas - Boom Boom Pow.
4. Lady Gaga - Paparazzi.
5. Keri Hilson feat. Kanye West and Ne-Yo - Knock You Down.
6. Agnes - Release Me.
7. Pixie Lott - Mama Do.
8. Daniel Merriweather - Red.
9. Dizzee Rascal - Bonkers.
10. The Veronicas - Untouched.

Why are they playing Michael's songs so much? Even the ones that aren't in the chart! Yes he died but do they really need to play all his songs because it's getting very repetitive.

Scott Mills wasn't too good being the chart show DJ either today...

I know he wasn't!

Man In the Mirror only just missed out on the top 10; peaking at Number 11!

Well done to La Roux for her first UK Number One!

1. La Roux - Bulletproof.
Like this track! Her first UK number 1 too.

2. David Guetta feat. Kelly Rowland - When Love Takes Over.
I like this too!

3. The Black Eyed Peas - Boom Boom Pow.
Love this loads.

4. Lady Gaga - Paparazzi.
My favourite in the top 10. I really want it to to to number 1 meaning that all 3 of her singles will be number 1s.

5. Keri Hilson feat. Kanye West and Ne-Yo - Knock You Down.
Don't mind it but getting a bit old now.

6. Agnes - Release Me.
I liked it but also getting a bit bored with this as well now.

7. Pixie Lott - Mama Do.
Meh.

8. Daniel Merriweather - Red.
I really don't like this song. And I don't like him much either.

9. Dizzee Rascal - Bonkers.
Annoying now.

10. The Veronicas - Untouched.
It's OK.

Notice that comeback songs seem to chart highly... Often number 1 but songs after that in an album don't do too well.

For example:

Kelly Clarkson
My Live Would Suck Without You got to number 1
I Do Not Hook Up only got to about number 30

Pink
So What got number 1
Sober got number 10
Please Don't Leave Me got number 11 so will 'Funhouse' do even worse?

Bit more mild, but perhaps Lady Gaga's Paparazzi etc won't do as well as her first two because they were both number 1 when they were officially released. Paparazzi was number 40 something after the release I think...

Take That:
Greatest Day - 1
Up All Night - 14
Said It All - 9

That's another example, but with so many people having bought the album before the tour (which is the single best show I've ever seen), the singles were bound to not do so well. Note that the Take That album was back in the top 10 last week (as a direct result of the tour).

I didn't think about that greeny; album sales do affect single sales. For Example, Lady Gaga's 'The Fame' was released when Pokerface was at number 1 so therefore Paparazzi was likely to chart lower because a lot o people had bought her album which was also at the top spot!

Still doesn't explain why Kelly Clarkson's 'I Do Not Hook Up' did so badly compared to 'My Life Would Suck Without You' though.

With Cascada at No. 1 and Lady Gaga enjoying success this year, the popularity of dance music is on the rise again.

I'm worried that "I Gotta Feeling" will flop because the album's already out (although that's not the case in America - it's #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and only spent its first two weeks at #2 because of Boom Boom Pow's airplay!)

And another case of follow-up singles being unsuccessful - "Human" hit the top 3, while "Spaceman" missed the top 40.

7. Agnes - Release Me

8. Keri Hilson feat. Kanye West and Ne-Yo - Knock You Down

I love the song Billie Jean, but the two you mentioned come in at 2 and 3. Man in the mirror - not a fan of that song.

I Gotta Feeling is number 1 in quite a few places at the moment. I want it to chart high here too. If it was up to me, I'd release my album after I've released the singles. Because then people might buy the album just to see what other songs are on there, even if they've bought the singles.

Either that, or only 1 single makes an impact.

EDIT: Actually, Boom Boom Pow was number 1 for 12 weeks in the States, and it has only been in the charts for about 5-6 weeks here, so I Gotta Feeling may not be officially released yet...

Good chart, and with the download sales going through the roof it really didn't come as a surprise to see Cascada at Number One; deserving!
