1 year ago was Amy's game, where she was quite emotional throughout and dealt at £8,500. She completely fell apart as the proveouts didn't go her way, and missed out on a £25,000 offer and a £1/£100,000 offer, but thankfully got something of a redemption when he box only had £1 :)

She actually had a 1p/£100k finish and £100,000 was in her box. ;) Her reaction thereafter was a carbon copy of Donna's.

It was only really towards the end that Amy got quite emotional, which came as a shock as she'd been very calm throughout much of the game where she had a very weak board. She at least got a bit of respite when she turned down box 23 and was proved right to when it contained 'Quarter'.

Well, what a week we were having this time 2 years ago! Paddy finally became the first male to win £250k, then a day later we had another spanking courtesy of Kaytee and her cupcakes, then a bit of a blip with poor Bryan crashing to £5, but then we had Rosie recovering from losing the top 3 in a single round to win £20k from her box! And rounding the week off, today marks the anniversary of Danny's game, and what a game that wa... Oh wait...

Judging by the tidbits regular pilgrims remembered about the game, he also probably had a recovery game, dealing £18,000 on a £3,000/£50,000 finish for a Banker Spanking. :smt023 :ponder:

Of course, his game wasn't televised because he was in the middle of a legal dispute regarding fraud at the time. Hopefully Challenge airs the game when it eventually gets to the 2013 shows.

Also worth pointing out that this week was the beginning of the weekend shows going on hiatus for a while, and so along with there not being a show on the Sunday, there was no show in the Friday either, so it was only 4 shows that week!

Today is also 4 years now since £53k Chris' game too! (Note next year, August 17th will fall on a Wednesday, as did Chris' game. So the days of the week and dates have almost fully rotated! Where does time go?! )

Time has moved on, but the logbook lies atop the desk, open still at the lattermost page, here for any intrigued passers-by to peruse and pore over for ever more. They dare not turn that page nor alter it in any way, however, affording it a strange, yet somehow fitting, sense of sanctity.
Unbeknownst to these fresh faces, the paintings of the old haunts of this quaint place, pristine and crisp as ever - even if gathering dust - turn to one another, and smile. Sanctity, after all, is exactly what the derelict mansion, still majestic in the undergrowth, possessed and emanated, better than almost all else.

;)

8 years ago, Miserable Brian played in the stunning month of August 2007, he had been on the wings for 31 shows and quickly became a big character on the show. So when Brian was finally called up to play his game, he certainly didn't disappoint in terms of entertainment and gave us a fun, comedy-filled show throughout! :D

Gameplay-wise, Brian had revealed to the banker that his target was £20,000, so at 5-box, the banker offered......£19,999.99! :-D Brian DEALT here, but unfortunately missed out on an inflated 2-box offer of £40,000 and had £100,000 on the table! :( But i don't think too many people were disappointed about as the game was basically 'an audience with Brian'! :smt023

In previous years, October 13th has claimed two 1p winners. Michelle in 2009, and Kelly from the live shows in 2011!

Michelle's game really annoyed me, her game was in a line of games where blue wins were unavoidable due to weak boards and sheer stinginess from the banker (Along with Stephen's 'Porridge' game were he was offered £3,250 THREE TIMES due to the banker taking a liking to a comment made by Stephen's wife, thus forcing him to gamble a £500/£20k gamble and losing, and Martin's emotional £1 win after receiving a PATHETIC final offer) :smt019

A whole decade ago, Dilys scored a spanking after dealing for £7,000 and would've crashed to a 1p/£1,000 where she DID NOT RECIEVE A HYPOTHETICAL 6TH OFFER, just like Haleem, and had £1,000.

With the 1p there, I'd imagine Dilys' final offer would've been around £400 in those days. I think 2 or 3 years later, a 1p/£1,000 finish would've yielded a joke offer, probably less than £100, to try and force a 1p win

And nowadays, the Banker would predictably offer £230 on that finish. ;)

10 years ago, Raj was the last original player to play his game, and gained the unwanted title of the show's first ever blue winner, winning 10p out of unlucky game :(

Up until then, the lowest winner so far was Jayne's £1,000 win, and of course, this game got a certain neighbour of Raj on the west wing wound up for the next game!

Speaking of which, tomorrow's date (November 30) certainly hasn't failed to bring up talking points over the last decade! :smt023

My very first exposure to the game would have been this time 10 years ago. $50,000 is eliminated - ''Yay!'' I cry. ''no, no, that's bad'' my brother calls back. That was about 10 seconds worth of game before I went off to do something else.

Anyway, an entire decade since Jennifer's long-standing record for the highest deal of £120,000. It's probably common knowledge that she was the first to fall victim to the 'Mary' slip. Her rather decent 5th offer of £52,000 was declined in a ''trance'', as she put it. Her target indeed was £50,000 itself, so what happened is something that not even she can put a finger on. It just...happened. That was it.

Two notable moments during the final round include Leigh's ''you're made of steel, woman'' delivered with palpable tension as it was he who opened the first box of that high stakes round. His look of relief when £500 came out was utterly genuine and actually striking.

But then along came Andy Kelly, who ripped through the tension with a call of ''10p. Say it to me!'' - Jennifer responded, Noel ordered him to just ''open it'', Andy banged it open in a second and it was indeed the ten pence. Now, considering the game was still new and contestants were effectively under Noel's command (look only at him and speak/take action at his discretion) with little more than a ''good luck'' being the communication directly to the player, Andy's 'call and reply' was ground-breaking and would have been interesting at any point in any game. But in a round like *that*, with over £50,000 possibly about to slung in the drain, it was amazing. This specific moment was used in the highlights package of Jennifer's game during the June 2006 'Double Deal Week'.

Well today's date is one that certainly hasn't failed to bring up talking points!

3 years ago was Franca's £13,013 OPW

4 years ago was Caroline Banana's £95k win which was somewhat dampened by Caroline's legal dramas following her win :?

5 years since Glenn entered terrible deal fame by taking 'just' £44,000 on a £1k/£10k/top-3 board and missing out on the £250k!

6 years since Emma, who posted on here quite a bit around the time of her appearance, took £23,000 at 5-box but like Glenn, missed out on the big prize!!

7 years since Betty declined £24k at 5-box with £250k still on the board, but crashed in the final round. She rescued her game by dealing at £6,000 with a £250/£15k showdown and only had £250 on the table

8 years since Hilary's mediocre win, which was an average deal for £10k with £35k, £75k and £100k still above, and £35,000 was later found in her box

9 years since Margaret had an all-blue opening round and played to the end and won £20,000 out of the box! :D

And finally, ONE WHOLE DECADE AGO - He was cocky, he was determined, he was stone-faced, and not afraid to speak his mind. You either love him or hate him, but he was a legend either way, I am of course talking about MR ANDY KELLY! :-D

A man determined to get revenge on the banker after Raj's trainwreck the day before, and did it in great style by scooping up a £20k OPW! :D

Andy Kelly's game, despite my devout appreciation of him, is a game I haven't actually seen yet!

From reading contemporary game reports, the atmosphere was a strange one because Andy apparently played it entirely straight - no interaction with Noel, players, Banker, it was just the game stripped bare. Played as a matter of routine. Maybe he was a bit pissed at playing so soon, in an obviously contrived piece of 'event' telly (he vowed revenge the day before during Raj's tuppence win).

9 years ago, Donna Rampton dealt at £21,000, BUT IT WAS NOT GOOD ENOUGH, SHE ACTUALLY THREW AWAY THE DREAM SITUATION

Both her and Noel deserved a slap in my opinion
