9 years ago, Bearded Chris who stood in E10 played his game, and had a poor board throughout with his offers peaking at just £4,400! Despite having bad luck throughout, Chris managed to salvage something from his game by dealing at a VERY generous (Well, for the board anyway) £1,500 on a 6-blues/£1k/£10k 8-box

An all-blue fifth round woud've seen Chris' offer edge up to £2,200 at 5-box, but thankfully he found the remaining 2 reds in the final round and only discovered £5 in his box, while the other box - with Sam - contained....well we didn't know, because the label had fallen off when Sam opened the lid! :-D

It turned out that the label had fallen into the box and it was the missing £1 amount! :)

8 years ago, Tony became the 9th member of the 1p club :(

, Rachel had a pretty average game throughout, but managed to get to a £500/£10k final 2, where she DEALT the final offer of £4,000, but had the £10,000 in her box

6 years ago, Melissa played the penultimate love week show of 2009, with the support of her fellow-contestant-turned-boyfriend Alfonso in the audience, who played at the start of the week :D Melissa's game got tense in its later stages, and at 4-box, she used the heart twist to get an extra offer. Her board was 2-blues/£20k/£50k, and the banker offered EXACTLY the average of £17,500, which Melissa declined! Luckily, the gamble did pay off and Melissa ended up with a £750/£50k final 2, where she DEALT at the final offer of £21,000.

A hypo-swap at the end proved it to be the right choice as she would've swapped away a £50,000 box for £750! :D

Corrected the bits that needed to be corrected. ;)

4 years ago, Ade had a low money game throughout (his highest offer prior to 5 box was £3,001), so the Banker decided to spice things up by offering him the opportunity to play the final round one box at a time. Ade managed to reach 3 box where the Banker offered a VERY generous £4,000 on a 1p/£5/£20,000 board. However, the Banker also made the decision trickier by guaranteeing that he would offer £8,000 if the next box was a blue. Despite that, Ade understandably dealt the £4,000, but his decision was invalidated by the £20,000 being in his box. :(

3 years ago, Alex played the first Love special. He had a strong board throughout, and decided to use the love necklace at 6 box. He then dealt a weak offer of £21,000 on a 2 blues/£20k/£35k/£50k/£100k board. :? However, this decision was looking good at first as he completely destroyed the safety net in the next few boxes, but he left the £100,000 to the end, which caused the Banker to offer the Banker's Gamble, which Alex quickly no dealt. Alas, the £100,000 was in his box, and Mark gave Alex his usual OH DEAR treatment at the time. :smt011

2 years ago, Sully dealt£19,000 after using the necklace on a 3 blues/£15k/£50k/£75k/£100k. The Banker tried to make his decision look bad by offering an inflated £26,000 on a £100/£75,000 finish, but he couldn't complete the guilt trip as £100 was in Sully's box. :D

1 year ago, the day after Roop won the jackpot, Sarah failed the 5 box twist so the Banker looked in her box, and he told her that there was a red in her box. She subsequently declined £2,700 on a 2 blues/£3k/£5k/£20k five box and £4,000 on a £3k/£5k finish, swapped, and won £3,000 from her box. She then somewhat cautiously declined Box 23, but it really didn't matter as it contained Money Back. :)

8 years ago Tim played from Ireland and won £5,000. In the first round he had a shaky start after taking out £20,000, £35,000 and £250,000 getting a first offer of £4,999 which he rejected. In the next round he took out £10,000 and £100,000. He ended up getting a really generous offer of £7,999, which he NO DEALT. In round 3 he took out £50,000 and the 1p, again the banker was generous he went up to £9,000. It wasn't a very good board as he had 1 of the power 5 left and a £15,000 back up. In round 4 he took out 2 blues and £1,000 which made things look better he got offered a £10,500 which he NO DEALT. I would of dealt their, due to how dangerous the board was. In round 5 he took out £15,000, a blue and £3,000. He got a offer of £7,500 which he no DEALT. In round 6 he took out 2 blues and the final box was the £75,000. He was left with £1 and £5,000. He got a good offer of £2,000, he no DEALT. It was indeed a questionable gamble. He swapped box 5 for box 3 and he won the £5,000 after a serious of brave moves in that game. After some brave NO DEALS, at least he got a nice reward for it.

6 years, a VERY shocked Kath was picked on her 14th show. Kath was so shaken by her early appearance that she felt it wasn't her lucky day, and eventually dealt for an 8-box deal of £18,000 with the £35k, £100k and £250k on the red side

The proveouts showed that it indeed would've been Kath's lucky day, as she missed out offer of £56,000 and £81,000 and had the £250k on the table!!

Also 9 years since £3,100 Beryl and 4 years since Kevin Whatley's daughter Katherine aka KITTY played!

5 years ago was Gaz and his infamous rejection of an EXTREMELY generous offer of £21,008 on a 50p/£250/£750/£20k/£100k 5-box, which resulted in his game totally crashing in the last round! Gaz went all the way to win £750 out of his box

6 years ago, "Welcome!" Russ played his game and had pretty average luck throughout. At 5-box, he had 3-blues, £5k & £75k, and was initially offered £7,500, but he got the banker to increase to increase the offer to £10,000, by him and the other contestants doing the "Tiddly Winky Woo" song and dance! :-D Russ dealt at the raised offer of £10,000 and would've had the perfect round if he played on! Russ would've been left with a £5k/£75k finish, where he received a somewhat sub-par hypothetical offer of £22,000 :? But it was a good ending to the game when Russ discovered £5,000 in his box :)

9 years ago, Gary played on the very first show that featured the red and blue box inserts. He had a £10k/£15k finish and swapped his box to win £15,000, making it am OPW as his highest offer was £11,500 :D

8 years ago, Susan got a fantastic OPW after dealing at an extremely generous £42,000 on a 50p/£100k finish and had 50p in her box. Definitely one of the best games of early 2007! :D

7 years ago, Derek had also got an OPW when he dealt at £12,000 at 5-box, I think he only had £75k higher on the board and had £5k in his box, but I can't remember now

6 years ago, Doreen played one of the most entertaining and tense games of 2009 with her 'anti-£20 Geordie' system working her way along the wings from E11 to W1!

At 11-box, Doreen was offered £17,000 with 7 blues/£20k/£75k/£100k/£250k on the board. She no dealt and took out the £20k, £75k and £100k in the fourth round, leaving just the £250k and SEVEN blues at 8-box!! Yet the banker's offer went up to £20,000.....which Doreen declined!!!

A nail-biting fifth round proved to be successful as Doreen took out three blues and was given an incredibly generous offer £50,000

Everyone was on the edge of their seats and thought Doreen would keep going, but she very wisely DEALT here, and the timing was perfect as the hypothetical sixth round saw the one red - the £250k - discovered in the last box, leaving Doreen with a 50p/£1 finish and giving her an incredible win over the banker, certainly one of my all time fav dond games! :D

4 years ago, Peter had a great first two rounds, hitting no higher than £20,000 on getting very generous opening offers of £15,000 and £20,000! Peter started doing damage in the third round though, when he found the £250k and £50k, causing his offers to fall to £5,000!

Peter had another crappy fourth round, finding the £100k, but then a surprise move from the banker on a 1p/10p/50p/£250/£3k/£5k/£35k/£75k when his offer went UP to £8,000!

Peter no-dealt this and took out all the reds except for the £75k in the fifth round, leaving him with a precarious 5-box of 1p/10p/50p/£250/£75k 5-box, and the offer went down to £6,750 (still generous considering he had the bottom three and only one big number), but Peter took a big risk by declining this!

The risk thankfully paid off in style as Peter took out the bottom three in the last round and having a £250/£75k finish! :D Here he was offered £20,000 (which I think should've been £25k or 'the governor' considering the banker's run of generosity in this game), where he DEALT, but the run of OPW's on this date ended when Peter's box was revealed to contain £75,000

3 years ago, Alma dealt at a somewhat sub-par £9k on a 4-blues/£1k/£15k/£75k/£100k 8-box, but I forgot how her proveouts went, didn't she go a round too soon? :?

I forgot what Charlie and Rich won due to my declining interest in the show since 2012, but didn't Charlie 2 years ago have a mid-teens OPW or something after dealing for an extra offer at 4-box or 3-box??? :?

2 years ago today, Charlie had a classic "talked up" OHO game. He started his game with a 3 blue/£3k/£20k opening round, and to everyone's shock the Banker matched the record (regular board) opening offer of £20,000. Charlie then went on to have a 2 blues/£1k round, and the Banker raised the offer to £26,000, the first time he ever offered the governor as early as the 2nd offer. Charlie no dealt that and had a disaster round, taking out the £250k, £75k and £50k. :( Charlie recovered the situation in the next round, though, producing a 4 blues/£5k/£15k/£35k/£100k 8 box. The Banker, completely convinced Charlie was going to the end, offered £15,000, which was 76% of the average.  Charlie declined that offer and took out 2 blues and the £100k in the next round, forcing the Banker to drop the offer to £8,500, which Charlie unsurprisingly declined. After taking out a blue and £5,000 (leaving a £750/£15k/£35k three box) the Banker made him an extra offer of £16,000, which Charlie sensibly dealt. :smt023 It was vindicated as well, as £750 was in his box. :smt023

A year ago today, Rich undeservingly earned the title of Deal's BIGGEST LOSER after taking a moderately stingy £28,028 on a 2 blues/£20k/£75k/£250k five box, missing out on £250,000 in his box, and finding DOUBLE in Box 23 after he declined it. :(

So, for the most, there was a LOT of ultra-generous offers on this day. Hopefully the trend continues in today's game. ;)

6 years ago, Irishman Dermot played with his countdown system of picking boxes 22 to 1. He had average luck for the most part, and at 8-box he was faced with a 6-blues/£5k/£250k and offered £4,321 :?

A much-needed all blue 5th round got him to a 5-box of 50p/£1/£750/£5k/£250k, where Dermot was offered a lucrative £15,432.10 (I think that's what it was, he was getting weird offers based on his system! :? )

After agonising over the offer and taking a long time to answer when Noel asked the question - Dermot said.....No deal!

Sadly, the dreams were dashed in the very first box when Lisa revealed the £250k, which Lisa got really emotional about! :(

The next two boxes killed the game completely as Dermot then took out the £750 with Dirk and £5,000 with Mavis, leaving his with a 50p/£1 finish, making Dermot the first player in more than a month to win a blue!! The silence in the studio said it all :(

Dermot ended up playing to the end an winning £1

I have a funny feeling that the Banker will offer the Undreal on a 1p\£250,000 finish again in the near future. :eyes: ;)

P. S. Thanks for the spoiler, deep-Arch. :smt023

Very unlikely. If it's 1p and a big red apart from £250,000 then yes.

The banker didn't offer another banker's gamble again after that until the end of April! And that too backfired for him big time!

I do believe the banker's gamble was used too much during 2009, i remember during like, the first month of Season 5, they were offering a Banker's Gamble almost once a week mandatory! So the BG's were getting quite predictable at one point IMO

I'm glad the banker's gamble has been more sparingly used since it's excessive use in Seasons 4 & 5 :)

It seems hard to believe now, but Alice was only the second player ever to have the 1p/£250k finish - nearly three years after it first happened with Debbie in 2006! I'm wondering if, once the Banker's Gamble had been established, the producers always planned to offer it if that finish happened again in proveout, just for the novelty value. The novelty value certainly paid off for them there...
