Amendment to that - actually, I think the spoilers thread did have its own forum by November '06. One can always check the Wayback Machine when one's marbles are losing themselves... :-D

Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

8 years ago today Alan played and won £7,500 He dealt at 8 box.He was winning at 5 box however when he got to 2 box he had £10,000 and £20,000 left and would of been offered £14,500 and had £20,000 in his box.Alan said he was happy with the result, but he did look disappointed. At the end it would have been the perfect round! although Alan would have never got that far to produce it, because he would of dealt at 5 box.Noel talked about the horrible games of the past few days, and hopes for the turnaround in fortunes, he also mentions how near we are to the 300th show and also the long absence of the £250,000....

I didn't have much to write up about this game.

6 years ago, the lovely Jen played all the way to the end in a typical late-2008 game of average luck and the banker being a cheap sod with his offers (She was offered £2,000 on a 4-blues/£1k/£5k/£15k/£100k 8-box, £850 on a 2-blues/£1k/£5k/£15k 5-box, and just £1,850 on a £1k/£5k 2-box!)

Luckily, it was a good ending for Jen when she won £5,000 from her box, and seemed genuinely happy with her win :D (Compare that to Martin a few games before, who dealt at £16,102 and looked mortified when the proveouts went the wrong way and showed that he could've won the £250k!)

8 years ago Nalini played and won £10,000 from her box. Her highest offer was £10,000 so a draw! In her opening round a unusual thing happened she took out 1p then 10p then £250,000 then £100,000 and then 50p!
What a weird round lol.Nalini was overjoyed with the win and says she loved that, Noel couldn't believe that she kept the gambling side of her so secret throughout her time on the show. It was a superb game and provided some great pieces of banter between everyone, it also gave a rather unique set of stats in that the highest offer for the game was £10,000, Nalini's box contained £10,000, and Nalini took home £10,000! What surprises would they be for the 300th show? The game after this one.

Yes, I remember that! Good game. :D

Now, I'm really looking forward to the 300th show! Did you know the original run was only supposed to last until the 66th? Now we're at 300...well, it'll all be over soon, surely...after this 'quarter-millionaire' shows up, all the excitement will evaporate, I think... :ponder:

8 Years ago today it was the 300th show and and Helen played She dealt at 8 box for £21,000 and after she dealt she took the 2 big ones in before 5 box her 5 box offer would of been £1,000 she did the perfect proveout round with 10p and 50p left and had the 50p in her box. So a great OPW. Helen was the one who refused to go to the pound table! Noel went over to plead her but she still refused! Noel asked an audience member to play. :D Whether this was a set up or not for the 300th show. You should of seen Noel's reaction! It was quite an unusual game and the start of the show looked a little staged at one point, but some of Noel's reactions also later gave the impression that perhaps it wasn't. I expect Helen's game split the viewers into two camps, those who found her quite annoying and those who found it an entertaining and different game. It was a great win over the banker at the end of the day though, and did this mark the start of a turn in the fortunes of the contestants?

5 years ago, Caz became the third member of the then-unnamed 'nothing network', in a pretty depressing game to watch

She had mixed fortunes in the early part of her game, and then after the third offer, her game started to go downhill and by 7-box, she had £3k as the only remaining red!

Caz was quite upset and gutted by this point, but she played on, chasing whatever money was left in her game. She did keep the £3k to the last 2 boxes, where she was offered £1,000 (It should've been something like £1,400 or £1,500 in my opinion, as the other amount was £100 and not one of the pennies :? )

Then, as Caz was thinking about the offer, the banker called back and said that if she played on and had £3,000 in her box, her winnings would be doubled to £6,000, but if she had £100, she would win nothing

Caz decided to play on and try for a happy ending and a reasonable payout, but sadly, gutting game finished on a gutting note, when Caz's box was revealed to be £100. But because of the special gamble, her winnings her NOTHING! :(

8 Years ago today Mary played and dealt her 4th offer at £10,000 this wasn't a good decision as at 5 box she got offered 28k and at 2 box got offered 18k. She had 50k in her box unfortunately. She was a good woman and good tactics who knew what to do.Mary said that she is very happy with the £10,000 as at the time she dealt she could still have had the chance to go away with nothing, Noel said that he thinks Mary's decision to deal early might hit her later tonight when back at the hotel.Well the main thing is she had no regrets it.

Jog my memory, old boy, I'm forgetting things... :smt009

On that subject, I've just unearthed something else. Quote daniel123, 25 February 2007...

"I'll be posting all my games in this thread, im not so totally utterly stupid as to completely ignore what i have said in the past and go and do exactly what i hate so much on this site. post games in multiple threads that is, which i wont be doing."

8 years ago Paul played DEAL and he won £25,000 also it was the highest offer of the game. He dealt at the 3rd offer and got a OPW! I think he was the first one to deal the 3rd offer and get an OPW I think there was someone before him but I'm not sure. After he dealt he had offers of £2,500,£1,000 and £5,250. He had £1 in his box! Paul produced a great win over the banker when probably a lot of people thought that he dealt far too early.

We'd had a few 3rd offer spankings by then - Bearded James, Melanie, Tax-Free Harry, possibly some others too.

What was odd about Paul's game was that his £25k offer was, if memory serves, the only five-figure offer in the game!

Yep, and he mainly had Noel to thank for that ultra-generous offer, as he said at the 2nd offer that the Banker needed to write a £250,000 cheque for Paul by the end of the game. The Banker responded by offering £250, claiming that he ran out of ink. After a good 3rd round he added two zeros to make it £25,000, claiming that he found more ink. After Paul dealt, the Banker crashed the offer to £2,500 after a mediocre 4th round, and then the rest of the proveout was shaky enough that the Banker couldn't possibly have offered 5 figures again.

6 years, the record for the worst deal ever on a £250k was broken for the third time in 2008, by the uniquely-named Tolleck Winner, who sold it for £9,000, and held this record right up until Katie's game in July 2012!

7 years ago, Nicky played a good game and took gambles that weren't reckless and not forced by stingy banker behaviour. At 8-box, she had a board consisting of 2-blues/£3k/£5k/£15k/£20k/£50k/£250k and was offered £19,100

Here, Nicky's 'friend' Helen in the audience (Though I think she was actually Nicky's other half ;) ) tried to influence a deal. But Nicky decided to play on and make the most of a strong game

The next round saw a horrible crash happen as Nicky took out the 3 highest amount and her offer plummeted to £2,100! Nicky kept her nerve and went all the way in the hopes of getting £15,000....and she did just that :D

So it wasn't an OPW but still a feel-good result and a great recovery after that big crash in the fifth round! :)

8 years ago Peter played and won £500 his highest offer was £5,000 at the 3rd offer. Not a big money game. :( It was a horrible game for Peter and one of those that never really got going as large values kept being hit in every round, meaning the offers stayed low all throughout the game almost forcing Peter to play on until the end of the game.He was left with £500 and 10p and thankfully he won the £500.

8 years ago Rachael played and won £30,000 it was the highest offer of the game. She dealt at 5 box with £500,10p,£250,000,£15,000 and £20,000. Her proveout was good with taking the 2 blues and the £250,000,which meant she had an OPW! She was left with £15,000 and £20,000 and the offer would of been the mean £17,500. She had the £20,000 in her box. Rachel said if she was in a stronger financial situation she would of gone on.But thank godness she didn't as she would of lost winning 10k more than what was in her box.

I thought that was a pretty underrated game. Rachel was gorgeous too! ;-)

9 years, the infamous Madie, who requested the details of his game to be removed (!). Made, what was until Kerry-Anne came along, the most controversial No-deal in DoND history. Saying NO to £28,000 on a 2-blues/£1k/£15k/£100k, which was 120% of the mean!!

The infamous gamble almost paid off, but Madie lost the £100k in the last box! He decided to cut his losses by dealing at £4,800 on a £5/£15k ending (which was pretty feeble considering his earlier no-deals, and offer patterns at the time :?), and avoiding winning £5 from his box, so it wasn't a total disaster :)

8 years ago Alasdair played and won £23,500 and the highest offer of the game he got an OPW! He dealt at 2 box with £5,000 and £75,000 left he got offered £23,500 and he dealt it. £5,000 was in his box.All they way the game his offers increased from a £750 at the start to £2,750 then £6,750 then £10,750 then £20,000 The Banker originally offered £17,750 but before Noel could ask the question the Banker rang back and increased the offer to £20,000 then finally £23,500.It's a fantastic result for Alasdair and a good turnaround after a very shaky start to the game.

8 years ago Madeleine played and won £1 her highest offer was £6,600 at 8 box. She was left with £1 and £5 at 2 box. Most offers had the theme of 45 in so I don't know what that was all about? :Jimmy_is_great
She took at least one big number every round. So an unavoidable trainwreck. :( She joined Mike,Barbara and Raj in the £1 club. :D It was a horrible game for Madeleine and was one that never really got going with low offers and high amounts being hit in every round.
