3 years ago, Joycey made some of the most reckless No Deals ever! At 8-box with £250k/£50k/£5k/£1k/4 blues, she declined a very generous £18,000. Then at 5-box she had £250k/£50k/£5k/£100/£5 and was offered an ultra generous £44,000!
She declined that and at 2-box she was left with £5 & £250,000. The Banker offered her a whopping £90,000!!
To the shock of everyone, she declined the offer and in her box was the £5 :(

I really don't know what Joycey was high on that day, declining £90,000 on a £5/£250k ending!!!

To say the least, she had a terrible case of money fever. :eyes: :eyes: :eyes: ;) ;) ;)

The perils of always swapping on all-red finishes - eh, Kall? ;) :-D

Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

BURN! :-D :P :P

Image

Anyway, 8 years ago today John had a FAR more self-inflicted trainwreck than Barbara the day before, turning down very generous offers throughout, including £2,500 on a £1/£5,000 finish! He deservedly joined the pound club thanks to his recklessness.

7 years ago today, Phyllis received the first EVER Banker's Gamble, having dealt £10,000 at 8 box and facing a 1p/£50,000 finish. Even though the Banker also guaranteed her the SWAP, she decided to keep the money, but sadly she missed out on £50,000 thanks to the hypo-swap.

6 years ago today, violinist David dealt £26,000 on a 3 blues/£100k/£250k 5 box for a Banker Spanking. :D

5 years ago today, the Banker over-exploited Martin's financial situation, offering only £6,100 on a £1/£35,000 finish. :smt019 Martin very understandably declined the offer, but sadly he won only £1 and he took it very badly. :smt009

3 years ago today, Mark followed up Joycey's game quite well, battling through what looked like a train-wreck at one point to a VERY generous 5 box offer of £8,000 on a 2 blues/£1k/£10k/£50k board. He sensibly dealt and it proved to be right decision as he found the £50,000 in the final round and had 50p in his box, meaning that he spanked the Banker. :D

2 years ago today, Gill had the task of following up another memorable game: Josh's historic 2nd offer Deal. She sensibly dealt £24,000 on a 4 blues/£5k/Top 3, but her decision was made to look horrile in hindsight as she proceeded to take out all the blues and then hit the 1 in 1540 chance of keeping the Top 3 to 3 box. To top things off, she missed out on the dream finish and £250,000 in her box. :smt009

A year ago today, Emma had the task of following up YET ANOTHER memorable game, which in her case was Mel's crash from £35,000 to just 50p. She VERY cautiously dealt £22,000 on a £500/£5k/£15k/£50k/£250k 5 box fearing a repeat of Mel's crash, even though her board was MUCH stronger than Mel's. However, this proved to be the right decision in hindsight as she had a £5k/£50k finish and a £19,000 hypo-offer with there being only £5,000 in her box, meaning that she spanked the Banker. :|

£1 Martin's game was one i don't want to think about again. One of the saddest ever endings to a game, and up there with Matty one of the most badly taken blue wins of all time :smt009

Martin, i felt was much was deserving of sympathy than Matty, who was cocky and reckless and didn't realise the risks he was taking until it was too late and his game crashed. I thought Martin was much more likeable and was probably being egged on by the banker making awful offers :(

8 years ago today, Ken had a VERY unlucky game throughout, with his highest offer being a mere £3,000 (which was the lowest peak offer at the time). In the end, though, he had the small consolation of being the first person to win £750.

7 years ago today, Chris dealt a reasonable £22,000 offer on a 1p/10p/£1k/£3k/£5k/£10k/£100k/ £250k 8 box. Sadly he missed out on a £10k/£250k finish, a £75,000 offer and £250,000 in his box. :(

6 years ago today, Joyce had the displeasure of having to face the mid-2008 Banker. Her board turned against her in the 4th round, and from their the Banker pretty much forced her all the way. She won £500 from her box. :(

5 years ago today, Dan also had an unfortunate game throughout, with his 1st offer of £7,500 being the highest offer of the game. In the end, though, he also got a consolation of £1,000 from opening his box.

3 years ago today, Steph got the surprise of a lifetime, as she was chosen from the audience to play the final LIVE game. She was so shocked by it all that she nearly dealt her 1st offer of £11,500 until Noel talked her out of it. :smt011 :smt019 Ironically enough, that was the top of her game, but she recovered in the end to win £5,000 from her box.

2 years ago today, Lamin produced one of the most amazing games in Deal history. After a poor start, he more than recovered the game by finding 10 consecutive blues, which is a Deal or No Deal record up to this today. He declined his 8 box offer of £22,000 but then the board turned against him slightly. Thankfully, he found the final blue at 6 box to produce an all-red 5 box and a very generous offer of £19,000 which he sensibly took. He only had £3,000 in his box all along, so he scored a great player victory.

A year ago today, Adam showed exactly how NOT to play the game by revealing at the 3rd offer that he planned to take the third offer after seeing Laura's game. :smt011 He not dealt at that point because the offer was only an old boot, but he then dealt a HORRIBLE offer of £2,500 after an all-blue round on a 5 blues/10k/20k/75k 8 box. He then missed out on a £4,750 offer on a 3 blues/10k/75k 5 box but would've crashed to a blue had he went any further. That still didn't change the fact that he made a PATHETIC Deal for the board, and in honour of the 1st anniversary of his game I shall induct him into the HORRIBLE DEALS CLUB. I would've done it at the time, but I just finished my tempo-ban from the aftermath of Laura's game and didn't want to risk a permanent ban. :eyes:

It is 8 years today since Sandra played. It was a Halloween special. She took at least one big number in each round and her highest offer was £9,999 witch was the 2nd offer. Her offers after £9,999 was £3,333,£1,111
£666 and £22.22 She was left with £50 and £5 she won the £50. She was dressed as a devil and her nickname was spiky because of her hair.Sound effects were really good. The banter between her and Noel about the wedding. It was just a real shame that Sandra couldn't have had a nice win to round off the game.

So SO HAPPY SANDRA DAY

I think this thread needs its title changed. ;)

Anyway, Bill's mega-money win wasn't the first on Halloween. 7 years ago today, Chris won the £75,000 in his box through calculated risks, and because he found the treat at 5 box his total winnings were £76,000. :D :-D

9 years ago today, Rachel was the first person not to have an OPW, and perhaps arguably the first 'crap dealer' in the history of DoND

She received poor offers throughout, and on a 2-blues/£20k/£75k/£250k 5-box, she DEALT for an offer of £25,000 (which was pretty miserable for the board, especially considering Anita the day before got an offer of £33,000 on a 2-blues/£3k/£35k/£250k board!).

The proveout went almost horribly wrong until she took out the £250k in the last box, but because she was left with a £20k/£75k finish, her offer still would've risen to £40,000 at the final offer

But thankfully she wasn't the first player to be 'banker spanked' when £20,000 was discovered in her box, making it a TPW :)

Just be thankful this game didn't happen during the '3 Wakey-teers VS. Everyone else' era or in the 'OH DEAR, OH DEAR...' era! ;-)

I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have said much, as she sold her box for a profit. ;) Had I commented on that game before my tempo-ban, she probably would've gotten a few eye-rolls out of me, though. :eyes: ;)

6 years ago today, Andrea had a poor game throughout, with her highest offer being only £3,000. However, this offer was at 5 box, and she dealt it for an OPW. :D

5 years today, Lucy also had a poor game throughout. Faced with a 4 blues/£50,000 5 box and a £4,000 offer, the Banker made a VERY generous guarantee that he would offer £21,000 if she had an all-blue round. She went on and did just that. :-D Needless to say she deal the £21,000 offer, and while £50,000 was in her box she really didn't care much about it, and quite rightly so.

4 years today, Marcel played a big money board quite well, quickly declining his 8 box offer of £23,750 in a decisive manner. Despite finding the jackpot in the next round, the Banker offered him an EXTREMELY generous £25,000 offer on a blue/£3k/£15k/£50k/£100k board. He sensibly dealt at that, but missed out on a £3k/£100k climax and a £39,000 offer. Thankfully the regrets ended there as he only had £3,000 in his box. :)

3 years ago today, Parvinder played the last of the Halloween specials for that year and dealt £22,000 on a VERY strong 8 box. It turned to be a very unlikely OPW, and the Banker didn't spoil by offering her a silly catapult gamble like he did to the other players who dealt before 5 box on that week. :D

2 years ago today, Laura played the last of the 2012 Halloween specials. Faced with a blue/£3k/£10k/£50k/£250k 5 box, she decided to try for one box at a time but failed. :( That meant that the Banker looked in her box, and he claimed that he saw the jackpot. He offered a fairly stingy £25,000 offer, which Laura dealt. It turned out that the Banker lying, as Laura left a £10k/£50k climax which resulted in a £30,000 hypo-offer. She had £50,000 in her box all along, but like Lucy before her, Laura didn't seem at all bothered by it.

A year ago today, Colin quite rightly became the BIGGEST LOSER in the show's history by selling the jackpot for £5,000. :smt011 I'll copy what I wrote in my Horrible Deals Club (as he obviously joined it) about him a spare myself the time:

£5,000 Colin: Dealt 15% of the average on a 4 blues/£1k/£5k/£10k/£250k 8 box. With 3 amounts at and above the offer, a guarantee of £14k just for keeping the £250k another round and 3 reds to fall back on if it went, it was obviously worth AT LEAST one more round. Thanks to his refusal to play any remotely risky board, he missed out on offers of £14,000 and £88,000. To put the cherry on top, £250,000 was in his box, which VERY deservedly made him the lowest seller of the jackpot.

8 years ago today Kelly played she dealt at 5 box for 12,500 and she had 3 reds and 2 blues she did almost the perfect round if she was still in live play. She was left with 10k and 100k and Banker's offer was 45,000 and she had 100k in her box.All the contestants were wrapped in their hats and scarves for bonfire night and the boxes were black with little rockets on them.If Kelly had played out the game as she said, she had actually made a good decision, as she would have given away the £100,000.Noel asks if she were offered the swap would she have done, she says yes so Noel swaps the boxes! Box 12 now sits in front of Kelly, Noel opens it and reveals £10,000, and box 11 has the £100,000.
Although it's a situation that would have never happened as Kelly would have dealt the £45,000 offer.

SO HAPPY KELLY DAY

Ahaaa, yes, *that* Kelly. I imagine she must be about 60 now.

This is one for those of you who were there - Kelly did a vile thing and sold some DOND secrets to the Scum for a healthy profit. Among this collection of 'gems' was the awwwwwful quote about Noel visibly becoming ''very aroused'' around her. Enough to put you off your Cornflakes.

I don't even know if it was true, I can't remember. Probably exaggerated to say the least, but once you get that image in your head, you're gonna have it in for whoever planted it there.

It has been 8 years since Gaz played He dealt at 5 box for 10k then at 2 box he had 1p and 35k left and the offer was 15k thank god the 1p was in his box. His biggest offer was in round 2 at 18k. Gaz had £2,500 as his target, so he has certainly achieved that and a lot more. It was a tricky banker who tried to unsettle Gaz by reminding him of the previous games that hadn't gone so well, although Gaz played well and came away with a good sum for the game. The final proveout offer from the banker does seem quite inflated as Fadil had the same final 2 values, but he was still in active play and was offered a very reduced offer of £7,200! Would Gaz really have been offered £15,000 if he had continued? Noel says yes, but I think a lot of people will think otherwise!

SO HAPPY GAZ DAY!

8 years ago today Katy played and won £500 pound Her highest offer was £13,000 at 11 box and after that she took all of the big amounts. She was left at 5 box with 1p,£1,£500,£1,000 and £3,000.
It's another game that never really got going and produced the higher offers, Noel said there will be a commiseration party at the hotel as yet again the banker is producing wins over the contestants. But it has to turn around as the £250,000 has been absent for so long! Is Noel right? Or will the £250,000 remain absent for a while longer?

If I remember rightly, at this time eight years ago we were becoming rather excited here, because we were getting wind of a reputed 'first quarter-millionaire', something which was to happen in the next few months or so. I don't think the details were clear - that came in the following weeks - but the spoilers thread, which didn't yet have a subforum of its own, was rife. :)
