Not a very good judge at knowing when to deal, though...

Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

There was no show on 19 February 2006, as it was a Sunday, so the next anniversary is today, 20th February... which saw Fin taking the walk of wealth after 26 shows, and carrying box 1 with him to the table. Fin was a very spiritual player... but his methods didn't pay off.

He no dealt what was his peak offer of the game, the fourth offer of £44,000, then went on to have offers of £3,000 and £15,000, both of which he no dealt. His final two were £20,000 and £10,000, he swapped and won £10,000.

Along with John G, who played the game before, and also recklessly gambled to the end and won the lower amount by swapping, Fin appeared in 50 shows Lucy's game in the audience of 50 shows Lucy's game in March 2006.

Fin also appeared on The National Lottery 1 vs 100 quiz show, and won a substantial amount (£45,000?).

Let's all celebrate John G and Fin day by throwing loads of money down the drain!!! All £58,990 of it!!!!! :D

Honestly, I can't think of any reason why they turned down their respective peak offers - John could only triple his money at best, and there was only a 10% chance of a higher offer - even £75k/£1k would probably been a stick! Fin was offered double what most people are offered at 8-box with the big two and not much else, so that was an obvious deal - but if his 5th round had been his 6th round (i.e. he'd hit 3 blues after turning down £44k) - god knows what the offer would have been, even he might have dealt it! :)

Today marks a year since Donna played... who came to the pound table with box 3, after 21 shows on the wings. She dealt at her fifth offer of £10,100, having previously turned down a higher offer, which was her third offer, of £12,000. Her hypothetical sixth offer was £26,000, and she had £10,000 in her box.

Donna looks scarily like my sister....

Poor girl, having to go on straight after those two loonies - no wonder she took an overcautious deal! :)

Donna also had the coolest first four boxes ever - £500, £250, £750 and £100! Shame Okiem had to ruin it with the £250k...

The 22nd February marks one year since one of the many Pauls of DOND played - this one's turn in the Crazy Chair happened after 16 shows, and he carried box number 2 to the Pound Table with him... he played the perfect game - dealing at the peak offer of £24,000 (which was the 5th offer of the game)... his proveout offer was £6,000, and he only had £1 in his box... a good banker beating!

Another one I missed, Paul sounded great by all accounts (and his dress sense  ). His game seemed to be one of the more exciting OPWs too! :)

I remember that game! It was on my birthday and on the day I joined the forum.

It was a nice game, no gimmicks or silly offers... just a good solid OPW.

One year ago today, Okiem played... known as "The Oak", Okiem played after 24 shows, and had box 10 for his game. He dealt at his final offer of £17,000, which was the highest offer of his game, and he only had £50, so it was an OPW - a good banker beating!

One year ago today, Beryl took the walk of wealth with box 6, after doing a modest 13 shows on the wings. She turned down her first two offers of £2,800 and £1,400, but then did a surprise deal at the third offer of £3,100. Her proveout offers were £12,500, £2,000 and £8,000, and it was revealed she had £15,000 in her box! Imagine if someone did that today… Noel would go mad! :?
