10 years ago, a big milestone occured as DoND celebrated it's 500th show, with a jacked up top prize of HALF A MILLION POUNDS on offer! The 'pilgrims' were all past contestants and DoND's, at the time, only quarter-millionaire, Laura was asked to pick the player out herself (which means the 500th player could've been someone who'd only just arrived)!

That however wasn't the case, and the player chosen by Laura was ANNIE, who had been on the wings for well over 20 shows. The game got underway and the first box, the VERY FIRST box was the £500,000! Everyone was shocked, Carol who revealed had a look on her face of "What the bloody hell just happened?!". Annie just laughed and said "Don't worry, it's just a normal game now!"

After that, the game struggled to get going, but she got £10k and an OPW. Though it was a pretty mediocre win for such a big occasion and a £500k special!

3 years ago, Billy had one of the worst trainwrecks ever. He turned down 6 joke offers and ended up with 10p, Box 23 didn't help things either as his winnings were halved to 5p :( The only offer worth ANY consideration in Billy's game was £1.23 at 2-box for comedy value!!

4 years ago, Irene continued the relentless run of mid-2013 caution as she dealt at £10k at an extra offer at 4-box, but unlike other people who were getting away with it at the time, Irene was punished in style and was left with a £35k/£75k finish, and had £75k on the table

11 years ago, John had another total trainwreck game, where he had TEN blues and just £3k and £75k on the red side at 10-box!!  He nearly turned things around, but sadly found the last remaining reds in the final round, and went away with £100 :(

The last 2 weeks of Season 1 after Nick M was a pretty bad run, first we had 3 people dealing too late, then too soon, the an 11-box deal that neither worked out perfectly nor was punished in style, a 1p win, and then a brief reprieve with a power-5 level OPW which still left people feeling unsatisfied! Then there was the final week which had 4 blue wins (including 2 more 1p winners), and even Chris and Naqiyah who won reasonable amounts, still undersold their boxes!!

Actually i just realised something spooky - In 2006, the 17th, 18th and 19th of July had 3 trainwrecks in a row, and in 2014, the 17th, 18th and 19th of July had three trainwrecks in a row!!

3 years ago, Kelly played in one of the show's last themed weeks, the ideal summer specials, and had an unlucky game where she played to the end and won £5 from her box, which was then halved to £2.50 as box 23 didn't help things either :(

4 years ago, Ste waited 31 shows for his game and came to the table dressed as Iggy Pop as it was the first of the Dealfest specials. Unfortunately, there was no end in sight for the relentless run of extreme caution and poor offers, as Ste dealt at £14k at 8-box with £15k, £35k, £75k AND £250k still higher :smt019 :smt011 However, it was his highest offer and the £35k being in Ste's box was the only thing stopping it being an OPW.

Seriously, what WAS wrong with the players in the second half of 2013? Even when players had strong boards, people were just becoming too scared of playing of playing beyond 8-box, undervalued boards were going unrecognised left right and centre and it was just becoming EXTREMELY repetitive and predictable with poor offers, at least half the wings giving cautious advice and telling the players "how generous the offers were", and the players predictably dealing. It's like they'd all been brainwashed backstage before the start of each show :smt009

5 years ago, Mark De Sousa become DoND's unluckiest player EVER. At 9-box, he had 10 blues/£5k, then 9 blues at 9-box, his highest offer was just £199, and at the end, the banker offered Mark a special gamble - if he won the higher amount by opening his box, he'd win a family holiday, but if he won the lower amount, he would win ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. He took the gamble and the lower amount was revealed in his box, meaning poor old Mark went home with SQUAT and officially became DoND's all-time unluckiest player

6 years ago, Barnaby had a comparably better game by being the last player of the season. He won £15,000 by opening his box after being forced to the end by a SWAP-only 2-box offer and scored an OPW!

Before 2011 and after 2014, no one else played on this date due to summer breaks, and whenever DoND went off to a summer break, the last show of the season was no later than July 25.

So it's been 5 years since the 2000th show and possibly the most reckless £50k win in the history of the show

Around 10 years ago today the show started recording games in the post-Northern Rock and recession climate. Scores of contestants sh*tting themselves so much that they accepted first offers to avoid having to turn off the leccy.

A year ago, the curtains were about to fall on the Dream Factory for good :( A wheelchair-bound Shazi played the second-last studio game ever, after just 11 shows on the wings and scored a £10k OPW - The last EVER spanking in the dream factory!

The final studio shows that aired in November/December 2016 had been in the can for well over a year because of the show taking many breaks due to horse-racing telecasts and being off screen for months on end during the middle part of the year

Random assorted 11 years ago memories (whatever I can remember), December 2006:

This very day, 12th, was the cornerstone game played by Donna. Lied about her profession, unless glamour models did supervise construction sites in the era before the big recession, accepted an offer in the £20,000s under the possible influence of her boyfriend in the audience, only to then sob her way to a 'dream' finish and the jackpot in the box. Support from audience members had been popularised by Okiem and his brother earlier in the year, but this was the beginning of the slow dismembering of that trope.

On the 8th, Lynsey accepted a marriage proposal from her boyfriend in the audience. Memorable at the time, it became dulled by several other ring dwellers using the platform of a popular game show to propose.

On the 3rd, after a protracted period of time, the £250,000 appeared on the table but was undersold by a distraught Ingerlise. £15,000, I think. However, not long before this game somebody had leaked the £250k win that would occur just on the other side of the new year, so the waiting game of ''who will be the first?'' had already been given a date in stone.

The least gutting underselling of the £250k occurred on the 17th, when the all but forgotten Claudine scooped up £107,031.

On the 20th, Sue had a very poor trainwreck. At this point in time, there was still some prestige and exclusivity in winning 1p, the total number of club members still stood in single figures. Faced with £5 or 1p, she was willing to win 1p just to be remembered. Nope, not even that. Five squid.

Christmas shows. On the 25th, in the early afternoon, Rachel played. Noel clearly fancied her. I don't remember anything else. Apart from her gap teeth. Loved those.

But in the evening, a £500,000 show, Wrighty played. He did quite well out of it, despite finding it a stressful experience. £32,000.

26th, Jenny played the early afternoon show. The 1p was replaced with ''PEANUTS'', which I think was unique to this game. It's slipped into the ether, though, it's not surfaced on YouTube. Sod knows what else happened.

The evening show was played by Alex Turner lookalike Danny, who looked and sounded like his balls had only just dropped. He won an extra £10k in a bonus box at the end of the game and I also remember a montage of DOND clips being played with the (inferior) Gary Jules version of Mad World as the soundtrack. This is another 'golden era' moment that has evaded YouTube and I only recently binned the tape that contained this episode. Sorry!

Final show of the year on the 31st, Alfie played all suited and booted. He'd been a winger for a while, the whole of December, and was probably a given choice to see out the year. He won about £20,000 but his box contained the jackpot, much to his chagrin. A peculiar thing I recall thinking at the time - because Alfie had done nearly 30 shows without having had £250k in his box, I deemed it basically impossible that he'd finally have it for his own show. Hmm, yeah. Don't think too much into that.

This time last year, we were two shows into DoND's farewell tour. The Dream Factory was long gone, and DoND spent the final kernels of it's lifetime on the road. This day it was Karen, who was the longest-running player on the wings from the final studio show and i think she dealt at £8k or thereabouts and undersold a £20k box??

11 years ago, Simon had a pretty average and unmemorable game compared the infamous Donna 24 hours earlier. His game struggled to really get going as he's offers peaked around the £9k mark and he dealt at a fairly average offer of £5,990 on a £250/£20k final 2 and had £250 on sitting just a couple of feet in front of him

12 years ago, Rob practically decimated his board in the early rounds, yet out of nowhere recovered to a £10k win by opening his box!
