Katherine's game today.

Noel talks about Barry's game on Saturday and says he played a great game, and although it wasn't a big win it set broadcasting history when Barry White gave Dirty George a kiss :-D

Katherine has box 13 today. Katherine is an air hostess, and Noel asks how long has she been a trolley dolly :P Katherine shows us a picture of her daughter Caitlin. She raised £2,500 by running a marathon last year.

She would love to win enough money to work part time and spend more time with her daughter...

Katherine is saving box 14 until the end of the game.

Here we go...

Noel asks Katherine to tell him the story of how she saved someones life in a car crash. Noel tells the banker that he had a great wing, and the banker says what a bunch they have on the wings at the moment. There was so much noise coming from Matt's room last night that the hotel had to send someone to his room and they found only Matt there!! :P Matt says that everyone else hid under the bed :-D Noel then asks who put the pot plant in the lift and kept sending it up and down to annoy the reception staff

Banker offers

£6,200

I'm going to do something I've never done before in the Today's Show Thread - I'm going to guess what is on the table...

Noel then calls a break...

If red... offer will be £2000 or less... if blue £3000...

Posted: Mon Feb 18, 2008 17:41
Am enjoying this game, lots of nice little laughs crammed in between the box openings :D

Posted: Mon Feb 18, 2008 17:42
It is a light game, but far too many reds are being found, That £75,000 can't be in the next box!

Posted: Mon Feb 18, 2008 17:42
So far, not to bad, theres still 2 of the power 5 and a back up of £20k! Really Hope Katherine wins one of them!

Posted: Mon Feb 18, 2008 17:43
Did everyone see the Ofcom notice last week during the ad break? They got fined £500,000. That must've hurt. Also, Rich & Judy got a £1million fine too. Whatever anyone says, these fines plus the lack of income from the LPL will have hurt prize funds..

Posted: Mon Feb 18, 2008 17:44
We're back
Last box before the banker

Noel has 2 additions written out to add onto George's badge depending on his box :P

18 - £50 :D George

This is a precarious game now says Noel...

Banker offers

£9,000

Posted: Mon Feb 18, 2008 17:46
Ouch.. That offer is FAR too INFLATED... Thats much more than Miss Swansea got even with lots of big reds still on the board. :( Not happy.

A great offer, but I would still probably play on!

Posted: Mon Feb 18, 2008 17:47
Noel does a sweep, and it's a mixed response... The banker calls back and says that he doesn't want Katherine to go away with a small blue...

Katherine says

NO DEAL

Posted: Mon Feb 18, 2008 17:48
This game is not fair. There is no possible reason why her offer should be that high. Unless he was trying to push her over board..

Posted: Mon Feb 18, 2008 17:48
Next round

3 - £5 Jean

This game will change completely now if this is an all blue round says Noel

1 - 10p Nicola

2 - £250 :D Sarah

Banker time

YES!! An All Blue Round at the perfect time!! Come on Katherine!!

Posted: Mon Feb 18, 2008 17:49
So now her offer will be £60,000

Posted: Mon Feb 18, 2008 17:49
Oh WOW!!!

If THAT offer was inflated, this one is going to be an instant walkout! :D

Why is it not fair? She still had (and still has) the 50k and 75k in play then, I thought it was a fair offer for the board, just because she got a better offer than Woodsy, no need to take it out on Katherine.

Katherine says she is ecstatic now... She tells Noel that one of the pilgrims made her decision for her, and the banker wants to know his name!! The pilgrim says it's David Weed, as in the things that take over the garden :-D

Banker offers

£21,000

One year ago today Jon had a very similar board and was offered £25,000...this is a VERY good offer, not to mention a coincidence!!!

Deal, woman!!! :D

Don't bother dealing theres still 2 power 5 left

Posted: Mon Feb 18, 2008 17:52
Katherine says that is a really good offer... Noel goes to the Weed :P He says he would deal as it's a lot of money, but he is not in the chair is he... Katherine tells Noel how much she could do with that amount of money, but she can do so much more with £75,000, so should she risk it...

Katherine says

DEAL

Greeny, with only 50 and 75 on board at 8 box, 9k is still an inflated offer. Much higher than the average.

Smiler Dave was offered £10,000- and his fallback was only £5,000.

Oh and, for the record, the average on that board was over near to £20,000- a lot more than £9,000. :?

It would have been so much better if she gambled and swapped for 50k.

HAHAHA! I should predict some more in the future :P

Well done Katherine! :D

I am not complaining of the generosity in the offers today, after all the wins have been bleak recently!

And as for this load of old twoddle, we all know you were in the audience for a game coming up very soon and so probably already know all of this information and you've been dropping subtle hints into the Today's Show threads for about a week now- spoilers under the image of a guess.

Redrum yeah you are right - at 5 box.. the offers would be around 26k with the super reds on the board - but I am talking generally around 8 box or so..

Ultimately.. I mean the banker is just sometimes a bit inconsistent. Thats all I am saying.

Yes but you can't compare this 5-box offer with an 8-box offer which is what you did because 3 boxes can make a huge difference so, clearly, the offers are going to be highly varied.

I was referring to what you said (the bit in bold). It was nowhere near the average.

Buit 21,00 was really low the average was 27k 28k but I loved this game the banters with Gourgeous George and reg were hilarity. Well done Kath on 21k :D

P.S: Get David Weed a part on the show :D

Well I very much enjoyed todays show. There was some great fun moments from the wings, some interesting stuff about what's been going on at the hotel and the random audience member Mr Weed from Leeds provided some fun humour from Noel and the Banker.

There was also a sensible deal from Katherine and whilst I personally would of gone on she was lucky to have had the all blue round and get offered £21,000 at 5-box. Plus if it's really going to help her out that much it would of been silly to risk it.

Posted: Mon Feb 18, 2008 18:28
A fun game, with a pleasant turn of luck in round 5, and good play on both sides in my opinion. £21,000 was precisely the right offer for the board, just above the backup value, leaving enough room from the mean for a calculated gambler to consider it worth a punt, but low enough to make a stick (or worse) possible on blue/£75k. I suspect I'd have taken it, but am not utterly sure.

Am I going mad? Please please PLEASE keep spoilers in quote boxes. You normally 'guess' happenings on the show which end in you being correct involving a small chance.

It's just that many members try to avoid them.

Back on topic, Well done on that banker beating, Katherine and enjoy £21,000.

Good show today; and whilst all the hotel stuff is a bit odd, at least we're getting told about it and it's not being edited out. David Weed is great too! It definitely seems to be the era of the older players right now - what with Margaret, Reg, George, Derek and Ken...

Anyway I didn't know who Katherine was when her name was called, but she was ok. However, the wing banter made today's show all the more memorable - it's a bit surreal but it's better than just opening boxes which is what we got in December! (Bar Orry saying he'd snog everyone.)

As for these overly generous offers... I think they're better than stingy offers. At least large offers give the player something to think about. However, it could mean a targetist deals on a very strong board.

I'd say that spoilers shouldn't be on this part of the forum at all, even in quote boxes. If Davey's not careful the audience research team might wave the confidentiality agreement he signed back in his face and stop him being a pilgrim again.

Oh, and there have been literally hundreds of more generous offers at 8-box and at 5-box.

Katherine was lovely, i really liked her. And £21,000 is fantastic money which im sure WILL change her life.

Plus the wing banter today was awesome.

I have found the true identity of David Weed.

Colin Pillinger, CBE, (born in Bristol May 9, 1943) is a planetary scientist at the Open University in the UK. He was the principal investigator for the Beagle 2 Mars lander project, part of European Space Agency's 2003 Mars Express mission. :suspect:

That was very nice - Katherine was really sweet, and I was never expecting her to make a huge gamble, so seeing her get the all-blue round from 9k then deal for 21k was great - just wish she'd avoided one of the blues on the wings for the OPW. It was like John G's board two years ago to the day, she has 20k to his 1k, and was offered 4k less though - that just shows the different attitudes between players highly influences the offers!

Strange that it should be a TPW having dealt for 1k more than the box but 12k less than the top offer, but I suppose the banker gets lots of TBWs that he shouldn't really get by silly proveout offers, so the players need some way of evening things out!

Staggeringly enough, Katherine is the 4th biggest winner this year - unless I'm very much mistaken, only MJ, Mark S and Dot won more than 21k!!!
