Noel opens Vaughan's box 5 and reveals 10p

Noel says he's a super salesman but then says it was actually one deal too late.

Box 9 with Terry contains the £10

It's interesting to note, from the few comments made at the time, the way that Vaughan's insufferable arrogance was picked up on...but apparently wasn't as prominent a feature of his show as it is when we rewatch in the 2020s. Perhaps we were all just more arrogant by default? It was a harsher world in many ways, after all.

Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

It stood out on deck like a navy captain.

I remember my brother slagging him off to kingdom come for his ''I make that money in a week'' comment. And whenever the ''least liked player'' threads cropped up, he was always mentioned.

His early runtime might have been a choice made by the team and not by him.

Oh yeah, he was definitely fast-tracked into the chair for the sole purpose of getting shot of him... :P

Considering that by Season 3, when the contestant pool started to become more skewed towards "less fortunate contestant who actually needed money", I strongly believe that Vaughan would've been shown the door before taking the walk of wealth (or even passing the audition process)!!

He wouldn't have got through any audition process even then. A skilled masker for sure.

Someone I knew had one around then (details sketchy but they were later in the audience, even picked the viewer's box at the end) and they said it was a massive effort to get through, you had to be spontaneously funny and enthusiastic. If you were wacky - you were in. This guy was just some Peugeot 106 kid. Apparently in his audience stint a lot of the reaction shots were unusable as he kept mugging the camera.

I've just rewatched this so I could jog my memory, and I can just make him out through the pixelated youtube video that looks like it was filmed from a potato.

Youtube videos in 2006 were reasonably good quality for the time but now they're practically unwatchable and don't seem to have survived the modernisation of many media players.

Nonetheless the white box values are so strange to see again.

I wonder what Andy Kelly's relationship with the other contestants was like, given his famously arrogant attitude and the fact that he only played on his 14th show. Sam (26/11/05) did seem a little standoffish towards Andy when he asked him to open his box, as Andy tried to do an enthusiastic build-up to his box opening and Sam bluntly told Andy to "just open the box"! :?

I know that Vaughan, Janelle, Rob (September 06), Thanh, CJ, Emma (April 08), and Ryan who left without playing all didn't have good relationships with the others, and it didn't really sound like the others were keen on Nagib and Kath from February 09 either, judging by some of the comments from the other players on their game threads :?

Thanh clashing with the others is a new one on me (I agree with all the others mentioned). Didn't Danny from summer 2013 fall into that category too (the one whose game never got aired)? Because I thought him and Ryan were in cahoots. Or did I completely misunderstand that? :-)

There was a lot of chatter at the time about Thanh not being popular with the others, but IIRC it was because of her being shy and introverted, rather than clashing with the others

I think in similar fashion to big brother or IACGMOOH living with the same (albeit rolling) set of contestants isn’t going to be all roses and some negativity is going to come out. I’m surprised things on screen always seemed to be friendly although admittedly I probably didn’t pick out the finer detail back then.

I'm actually not sure if Danny's "off-field behaviour" actually spilled into his career as a DoND contestant. Apart from his game being pulled from the air at the 11th hour, there didn't seem to be any red flags that showed on set - he was there for 25 shows (longer than anyone else on at the time), and I don't remember there being any friction between Danny and the other contestants at the time......then again, it WAS over a decade ago, so there was probably a bunch of stuff that I missed or just forgot about :P

Yeah, I think Sam had just had enough of Andy's egotistical bullsh*t, to be honest. Andehhhh Kellehhhhh...just one of those types of bloke, simple as that. :smt078

As a 'shy' and introverted person, this is still soooooooo common, and just as sickening as ever. Why is it that people love gregarious, 'everything HAS to be all about ME' types, but the quiet ones are automatically disliked?

He was a legend!

The way he tore through the tension in Jenny's £120k game, one of the highest stakes rounds the show has *ever* had - from an accidental ''No Deal'' no less - was nothing short of unhinged.

Andy Kelly is a man whom you cannot roast. You cannot outdrink. You cannot outsmart.

If you try, you will die. It's as simple as that. He is the summit.
