Episode 60, January 10 2006 @ 4:15pm
Player: Lyndsey- has box 1

Quick intro, Noel says the luck's very much with the players - "although Jenni didn't quite make the most of all of her good fortune" - and there's not much contestant chat before we're away.

Box 14 - £1,000. 'That's alright,' Lyndsey quite rightly suggests.
Box 7 - £5! 'That's more than alright!', Noel enthuses.
Box 10 - £50! 'It does feel as though the players have everything on their side right now... this is turning into another fantastic opening round.'
Box 17 - 1p! The crowd go loopy as well they might... 'One more, and this is possibly the best opening round we have ever had!'
Box 3 -£750! 'This is remarkable!'

Noel says that Lyndsey has been quiet on the wings and is now turning into a silent assassin!! The Banker says he is terrified and has run out of ideas to make the players lose!!

Banker's offer:

£11,000

As Noel points out, it is the biggest opening offer ever. Lyndsey says that's great, but it's too early to leave... NO DEAL.

Box 21 - 10p! The crowd are going nuts, and Noel's a big reason why. 'This just keeps getting better and better!'
Box 4 - £100! More huge cheers. Noel puts the mockers on it into the break: 'the way things are going, Lyndsey could be our first quarter-millionaire... don't you dare go away!'

With Noel still whipping up a hyperbolic frenzy (and if he can't on this board, when the hell can he?!?)...

Box 6 - £250!! 'This is unbelievable! We've never seen anything like it!'

The Banker says that he has no choice but to go into unchartered territory again...

Banker's offer:

£19,000

Lyndsey says this can't be happening! Noel says it is, and you really do have that incredible board, and Lyndsey says she has to play on then... NO DEAL...

Noel says the reality is that big numbers will have to go sooner or later, but such is the strength of this position that 'we can afford to have one or two dodgy boxes'...

Box 9 - £100,000! 'That's the dodgy box then!' Lyndsey suggests. She quickly moves on to...
Box 18 - £20,000. 'We can afford that,' Noel opines, 'but we could do with a blue in this box.' After a delay as she's run out of lucky numbers - 'I hope you've not run out of luck as well, because this is still a great position', she picks...
Box 20 - £10! 'There we go!' Noel points out that we have, indeed, had a couple of dodgy boxes 'and yet still we are in this incredibly powerful situation with four of the Power 5 in play - and look at all those other reds!'...

The Banker says the only good thing now is he doesn't have to make yet another record-breaking offer for the same stage in the game...

Banker's offer:

£22,000

Lyndsey says that's a lot of money, and Noel points out the board is still terrifying the Banker and with good reason... Geordie says the offer went up for Jenna after taking out big numbers at this point, and that there's room for another round... and NO DEAL it is!

Noel says he hopes the luck doesn't run out!

Box 19 - £75,000! Lyndsey says if she has the £250,000 that doesn't matter so much...
Box 5 - £500! Crowd go crazy and Noel says Lyndsey is still on to be the first quarter-millionaire... break called...

Second adbreak
50p

£3,000
£5,000
£10,000
£15,000
£35,000
£50,000
£250,000

Box 8 - £35,000! 'It's OK, it's in here,' Lyndsey says, pointing to her box... the crowd get hyped up and Lyndsey tells the Banker 'this had better be good'...

The Banker says this board is dangerous and he 'senses blood'!

Banker's offer:

£14,000

Boos from the crowd. 'I'm not taking that!' That would be a NO DEAL then... 'Has the Banker bitten off more than he can chew? Has he picked the wrong fight?'

Noel tells Lyndsey that this could still go wrong, and Lyndsey asks if anyone's won 50p yet!! Noel says no!! 'Oh, well that would be something if it comes to that!'

Box 12 - 50p!! 'It won't! The perfect start to the round!' Noel points out that if this is the pound, Lyndsey cannot win less than £3,000...
Box 2 - £250,000!! Lyndsey gasps in horror, as if realising this result was not an inevitability for the very first time... 'Quarter of a million is not in Box 1...'

Squashdown
£1
£3,000
£5,000
£10,000
£15,000
£50,000

Box 16 - £10,000. 'It's OK... £50,000 is still in play.'

The Banker says he has finally turned the tide and he is going to be 'meaner and meaner' from now on!!

Banker's offer:

£8,000

Terry points out that Lyndsey is guaranteed to be left with a red at the end... Lyndsey says she's aiming for £50,000 now... Noel points out there could be £1 in the box as well, but Lyndsey says NO DEAL!

Box 22 - £15,000. 'Ooh... now we really, really don't want to see £50,000...'
Box 11 - £3,000. Cheers... 'We're on a knife-edge. The next box is absolutely pivotal.'
Box 13 - Noel builds up the tension, plays on the superstition... £5,000. 'It's not the fifty!' Noel points out... Lyndsey says she has it... Noel says the Banker cannot ignore her confidence and determination...

Banker's offer:

£17,000

Several players run along the line of 'you don't want to go away with just a quid'. Noel says it comes down to whether you can put that belief in the box on the line... Lyndsey says it's horribly tempting but it would be awful to win £1...

DEAL! 'Don't think any less of me,' Lyndsey insists... 'Now we see what would have happened if you had yielded to the temptation of the box, and not the Banker's offer...'

Box 1 had £1! Big cheers. 'Thank goodness you Dealt!' Box 15 (Geordie) had £50,000... Noel says that was an amazing ride and it almost ended with a crash, but Lyndsey got out just in time and the luck goes on...

I loved the way you used the "Don't think any less of me" line"!! This is before I got into DOND but I do recall reading that line on Bothers Bar!!!

And my quote in response: "We'd think less of you if you turned this down here in Stat Central."

Thinking about it, given the prevailing two-box offers of the time, on my current utility curve I'd have No Dealed!!

I had no idea what she'd have done in this game and reckoned the Banker would be a bit nuts after the last week (one swappy OPW from nowhere, one OPW denied by an AMO, one six-figure win, two OPWs and a £30k win!!) so thought it was a good time to bring out EvilBanker. The fourth round was almost like Jenna's, on a board of similar strength, and the offer went down £8k when Jenna's went up £6k!!
