The last show of the year and after the worst Deal to date, what will happen now? Noel says 'we don't want another game like yesterday's'...

Episode 52, December 30 2005 @ 5:15pm
Player: Max- has box 19

Max comes bringing his red book with a record of all 22 shows he spent on the wings! 'Well, you're certainly prepared!' He mentions the 'butterfly effect' and says that a snowflake in Bristol could cause floods in India, or something like that, and Noel says that one bad Deal in Bristol could cause broken televisions in Glasgow!! :D :D

'I think we're in for one heck of a scrap!'

Box 14 (Alan) - £1! 'Super start!'
Box 6 (Gavin) - £5,000. 'That's alright!' insists Max.
Box 21 (Irene) - £500. Max is looking rather cheerful at this point.
Box 13 (?) - £10! 'This is looking good just at the moment...'
Box 17 (Pat) - £250! 'What a sensational start!'

The Banker says he has not been this afraid for a long time, and this is a historic opening offer...

Banker's offer:

£10,000

It's the first ever five-figure opening offer! Max says it's good 'but there's no way I'm taking the first offer' - NO DEAL.

Second round. 'Can we keep this magic going?' asks Noel.

Box 10 (?) - 10p! 'Yes!' cries Max.
Box 2 (Dave) - £250,000! Huge gasps of shock. Max looks gutted. We call a break...

First adbreak

£1,000
£3,000
£10,000

£50,000
£75,000
£100,000

Box 4 (Gerry) - £1,000. Max has calmed down now.

Noel refers to the Banker's computer which he uses for the offers and adds that 'he doesn't have to follow what it says to the letter, he has to look at the player too and that opening offer was largely because of how you have presented yourself'.

This time around...

Banker's offer:

£7,500

Max says that's not bad considering, but 'there's so many higher than that' so NO DEAL it is.

Third round. No names for this one I'm afraid!

Box 20 - 1p! 'Now we're getting somewhere!'
Box 18 - £750
Box 5 - £50,000! 'Oh.' Max says he still quite likes the look of this board as 'it's looking rather red'... he's right...

£3,000
£10,000

The offer... a return to the start.

Max is again quick to say NO DEAL. Noel says that he is as decisive as anyone who's ever played the game!

Fourth round. 'Keep the £75,000 and the £100,000 and you should be on your way to a serious offer.'

Box 9 (Miguel) - 50p! Max punches the air.
Box 16 (Mumtaz) - 'An important duty on your first game!' - £100,000! Max says it's not her fault and Mumtaz says it's a good thing he didn't blame her!!!

Noel wonders what this is all about, and calls a break...

Second adbreak
£5
£50
£100

£3,000
£10,000
£15,000
£20,000
£35,000
£75,000

After the break Mumtaz reveals she is a trained martial artist! 'I'm looking forward to your Banker scrap!'

Box 1 (?) - £20,000! Max says he still has good sums of money on the board. Noel takes the phone call and laughs... 'I don't think he's done this for a while!'

Banker's offer:

£10,000

'He's stuck!' Terry points out the offer is below the median, and Max shows little hesitation in saying NO DEAL once again!

'If you can keep £35,000 and £75,000 the Banker is going to HAVE to completely rethink his gameplan.' Incidentally, at this point, according to Dave's stats sheet, there had only been two offers of exactly £10,000 before Christmas 2005!!!!

Box 22 (Julie) - £35,000! 'There goes the safety net.'
Box 7 (?) - £100! 'We needed that!'

Squashdown
£5
£50

£3,000
£10,000
£15,000
£75,000

Box 3 (?) - £75,000! Max is stunned. As well he might.

Banker's offer:

£4,000

Max says he might as well go for it now, Noel reminds him that £4,000 is a lot more than the two blues on the board, but Max says he knows what he's doing... and duly says NO DEAL.

Box 8 (Jenni) - £3,000. 'Now the two blues!'
Box 11 (?) - £15,000! Gasps. 'Please, not the £10,000.'
Box 15 (?) - £50!

Two-box showdown
£5
£10,000

Noel points out that Max has turned down £10,000 three times and could still win that... the Banker says he's got another repeating offer to deal with first!

Banker's offer:

£4,000

Dave says that's generous. Max says he's gone this far and wants to win. Noel says £4,000 is much better to win than £5, and Max replies that £10,000 is much better to win than £4,000! Noel says that's true as well...

Max says NO DEAL!

Max is offered a box swap but refuses it...

Box 19 has £10,000! 'So after being offered £10,000 three times you win it in your own box! Incredible!' Box 12 has £5.

Noel says that's a great antidote to yesterday as he won the most from the game, in a quite bizarre way... 'he did it in style and that's what we want to see more of when we come back on Monday for a new year of Deal or No Deal!'

Good game, I would have dealt at the final offer.
