Noel welcomes us to the new format of the game Deal or No Deal, where there are now 23 boxes, and an extra add-on to the game!

Here’s the board:

Image

The values for Reel 1, 2 and 3, and Box 23 are decided by the big reels!

Image

This is how we fill those gaps. To begin with, I’ll spin the reels for the first question, and you can all decide whether or not to re-spin the category to try and get an easier one. There will be three questions asked on the category and for each correct answer on Question 1 from each individual on the wings is worth £10,000; Question 2 its £15,000 and Question 3 its £25,000. I’ll explain what the money comes in for when it comes to the time, but here we go!

The reel has been spun, and we get…

Image

Medium questions on the Internet! Would you all like to re-spin that?
There’s a group discussion but after that, Matt shouts out, “We’ll keep the category!”
“Okay, we’re keeping the medium questions on the Internet… each individual correct answer is worth £10,000. Let’s play.”

Q1: Which search engine celebrated its 10th Birthday online earlier this year (2008)?

Contestants enter their answer, and 15 correct answers are given. “The answer is Google! That means we now have £150,000. Let’s put that into reel 1. We will now enter two more values; £75,000 and £225,000. The value you pick on this reel will be between £75,000. Also, we will add 7 values between £75,000 and £150,000 and then 7 values between £150,000 and £225,000! Okay, so after all three questions we will spin the reels. Next question is…

Q2: Which video website brought you the infamous, “Evolution of Dance?”

Again the contestants answer, and only 11 people get it correct this time. “The answer is YouTube! The same rules apply for reel 2, and it means we have £165,000! Let’s fill with sixteen more amounts, ranging from £82,000 to £247,000. We will also spin Reel 2 after the next question.
Next question is…

Q3: Formerly MSN, which service now brings you the worldwide used, “Hotmail?”

The contestants answer again, and this time, 17 people get a correct answer! “The answer is Windows Live! Fantastic stuff, we have £425,000 to put in the reel, and another sixteen values enter it ranging from £212,000 to a massive, huge possible jackpot of £637,000!” Huge roars of applause. “Reel 4 in that case has lots of different prizes available, such as Speedboats, Villas, cash, and also, booby prizes such as Toothbrushes and Goldfish. Before we spin the reels, we will select today’s contestant. That will be… PETE!”

Pete brings out Box 5 to the table. He is 37 with a wife, Carole, and four children, three boys and a girl, between the ages of 9 and 17. Noel asks Pete if he will be having anymore children and he says, “Definitely not!”

Pete goes up to spin the reels. We’re all hoping for the largest possible values to appear on the reels. We get…

Pete wishes to re-spin them all as they’re quite low for what he could’ve got, and he doesn’t want a Toothbrush! He goes up to spin them again and we get…

Huge roar of applause, as we see three larger values, especially the £637,000! The Laptop is now a nice consolation prize for Pete, he says. Noel says we can move on with the game! Pete says he chose Box 5 at random before the show.

ROUND 1:

1 – Joe – BOX 23! The Laptop is out of the game already.
20 – Charlotte - £10! First cash value off the board.
8 – Anna - £100! “Let’s keep it up,” says Noel.
15 – Torsten - £100,000! Ouch, first big knock, but, “I’ve still got those big three!”
4 – Diane – £2,500!
22 – Marilyn – 10p!! The lowest value is off the board.

Image

The banker calls, and he is angry at the fact there is so much money to be gotten off the board…

Banker's offer:

£20,000

Pete says it’s a great first offer, but he’s going to say NO DEAL!

ROUND 2:

18 – Geraldine – £1!
14 – Nicola – £250! Good board!
6 – Phil – 50p!! “GET IN THERE!”

Image

Pete is absolutely amazed with his amazing board he has here. The banker is thinking the absolute opposite, and is thinking of money to get him out of the game.

Banker's offer:

£36,000

Pete is shocked at such a large offer, and Shirley tells him its real money to take home now. Pete understands, but he wants to go on a bit further… NO DEAL!

ROUND 3:

3 – Karl – REEL 3!!! Big gasps, as the big money, £637,000 leaves the game…
19 – Frieda – £20,000
12 – Gregory – £10,000! “That was a round to put us back on our feet for sure…” says Noel.

Image

The banker is more comfortable now, so he can make a lower offer. Not a low offer, just a lower offer…

Banker's offer:

£15,000

Silence reaction to the offer, but Pete says he wants to go on with all that big money still there. NO DEAL!

ROUND 4:

23 – Matt – £20! “Okay, more of that please now.”
7 – Shirley – £75,000! Pete screws his face up a little bit.
2 – James – REEL 1!! That’s two huge values off the board again this round.

Image

Pete isn’t too pleased, but again, the same cannot be said for the banker, who thinks Pete will lose this £220,000 in the next round.

Banker's offer:

£8,400

Groans at the offer: Pete mentions that the average is a lot higher than the offer he’s just given, and he doesn’t think it’s enough for the board. As he asks for the question, the banker rings back, and he’s upped the offer.

Banker's offer:

£12,500

Pete says it’s a better offer, but he’s keeping his decision the same. NO DEAL!

ROUND 5:

“Let’s now keep the 30, 50 and 220 for the next offer, and then we can turn the game back around in our favour then Pete.”

17 – Polly – £5,000! “Alright, alright!”
21 – Dawn – £50!! Dawn gets a hug off Pete.
16 – Carla – £5!!! “YES!!” Pete runs over to Carla and gives her a big squeeze.

Image

The banker’s in a difficult position now, but he’s made his mind up now…

Banker's offer:

£45,000!

Pete applauds the offer, and Matt tells him to think about it a lot now. Pete stares at the board for a while. Marilyn says that if he knocks out all three big ones after turning down the offer, would he be alright with that? If not he should take the offer. Pete has made his decision based on that and Marilyn ducks her head… Pete DEALS!

Noel gives Pete a handshake, and tells him we want to find out he did a great deal after all.

ROUND 6 (Proveout):

13 – Thom – £30,000! “Let’s see the other two…”
9 – Sammy – REEL 2!!! Sammy gets a big hug, and now if we find the £50,000 it will be the perfect decision…
11 – David – £500!

Banker's offer would've been:

£17,800

Pete says at this stage he probably would’ve taken the offer. Noel pulls the seal on Pete’s box to reveal £50,000! Just £5,000 over his deal, but Pete’s still happy. Tommy with box 10 reveals £1,000. Pete says he’s going to treat the family for Christmas!

Noel tells us to join us for more spinning, gambling action again next time!
