After confessing the first offer was tempting a deal was alway on the cards and it was going to take some low offers to keep the game alive for any decent amount of time. Fortunately thats what we got.

Even so it was a pretty nondescript game with little in the way of tension or excitement. But at least Sophie got some decent money out of it after the all-too-familiar-these-days collapse.

Her only mistake may have been underestimating the board at 5 box. If Noel had asked me about the offer, I'd have predicted a stick at £13,500.

Whether or not Glenn was going to offer £10K despite what Sophie said is an interesting question.

Well done to Sophie.

Another great game! I was hoping that she would have got the 100 since the 250 went but 10,000 was a great deal for her.

Sophie was an absolutey lovely girl, but not a great player of the game I feel - I think she gave too much information away to the banker, and should have got better offers than she did, but I guess she gave the big money a shot while it was there, then got out when there was a significant chance (30%) of losing the lot! I'm really pleased that the deal was the right decision, as I was shouting at her to no-deal the £10k (It's about what I'd have expected if you replaced the 35k with a low red), but I love it when people do the exact opposite of me and prove me completely wrong! :)

Well done Sophie!

I actually think (and don't hurt me) that £10,000 was fair due to the all red round that preceeded it. Had she hit 2 blues and £50,000 then it should've been nearer £20,000 but those 2 low reds were highly influential

I see your point but he could have still edged it up to about 15-17K in my opinion. 10K has been offered on boards with 3K instead of 35K.
A stick of 13.5k would have been acceptable at the lower end for a fairly cautious player.
Sophie wasn't unwise to deal it with a 60% chance of taking out 100K and the uncertainty of blue vs 35K but i would have foolishly taken my chances because it was about 50/50 of keeping 1 red and I didn't like the offer.

I don't understand these arguments at all. She dealt the offer. Therefore the offer, by definition, should absolutely not have been higher. You cannot say an offer was too low if the player deals it. Not opinion; fact. The only debate to be had is "do you think he could have got her cheaper?".

You can of course say it would have been too low to get you out of the chair but then you would very likely not have got that offer. "Would I have done the same deal" arguments are great - that's the fun of the game, for me anyway!

The fact that she dealt it, and other people have dealt other offers that I have felt were low for the board and would have continued without hesitation on, means the banker is seemingly very good at reading the players' utility curves. They are going to have to me more discreet! :)

The banker seemed very interested in Sophie's curves if I remember!

well, knowing glenn, i personally dont think he would have offered £10k, and if he was in June mode[which he evidently isnt anymore, hence Usha's £6,100] then he probably would have offered about half that...

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.
