Regarding Power5: we are already seeing people winning life-changing sums of money. Craig would never have left that board for anything that wouldn't change his life, surely. I know I wouldn't. (And £24,500 might well change my life... indeed, I'd take that and run there if you replaced £75k with a blue.) And gambles can sometimes lead to pocket money. However, I totally agree that we won't remember individual games here. It's the big finishes that people remember and the most memorable moments we've had in the post-Lynn run of conservative play are Sarah's £100k box and Craig's super-destructive Noel-defying proveout. And a lot of people here won't want to remember the latter!
In terms of "life-changing" I'm talking about the likes of Laura, Gaz, Lynne, those that will make an unimaginable difference to someone for years to come. Whatever you say about the gameplay that led up to those moments, I just think the revealing of such amounts at the end when the player has gone all the way are the most memorable moments the show can provide.
I take your point that £24,500
is life-changing in many ways to a lot of people - it might pay off your debts, or buy you a nice car and a holiday - but it's not going to buy you a house, for example, or give you financial security for years to come.
Of course I don't want to see everyone no-dealing to the end, or see people take risks that are not right for them and end up with small change. But I certainly want to see a few more exciting games, and imagine the casual viewer wants to as well. Agree that Noel trying to force people on isn't the best way to achieve that though.
