A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

Good game, but I wasn't really that bothered how he did.

 Oh, and is Noel going to use the same line EVERY time Rita opens her box? It's getting really boring already.

Great game Stephen, a nice blend of courage and caution,
and yet another Outright Player Win at the 5 box stage! :D

Now that was the sort of game I like to watch!

A dismal start but Stephen kept his cool, didn't lose his bottle and worked his way up to a decent board and a good offer with a blend of courage and good sense.

I'm sure most recent players would have folded if not at the £8,000 offer for sure at the £10,000 one so full marks for bravery there. 'Null points' for bravery at the £20,000 offer but even I didn't begrudge him his deal after the game he'd been through.

Now that was a hard earned and well deserved £20,000 win.

Brilliant! Absolutely Brilliant!! I loved that game.

Stephen was a fantastic guy, wasnt put down by the awful first round.
Thoroughly deserves the £20k.

One of the best games this month in my opinion.

If you discount the opening round, that was a really strong game. Stephen didn't seem to let his bad start affect him much.

I would have also taken the £20,000, and I loved the way the board was destroyed after the deal.

I know I've said this before but today's proved it - Deal or No Deal is never, EVER predictable. Who on earth would have thought that after a disasterous opener like that he'd have a £20,000 OPW?

Fantastic timing both before and after the deal, and as Dan said, the first person ever in that position to play the perfect game. Well done, Stephen, that was ace!

Thanks for the kind words I just played honestly,I'm over the moon with Basicasic comments as that is the measure of a player playing the game.
I hope you so more of the real me as editing kept me quiet and thanks again for your comments which mean as much as the money. :-D

Stephen - you did brilliantly. Chased the money while it was there to be chased, but realised that at £20,000 you had actually succeeded in your mission. (Which evidently isn't true of basicasic, even if he tolerated this Deal - he's semi-officially the least cautious person on this forum, according to another thread here.)

Keeping cool and analysing the board for what it is rather than what it was is a very important strategy for anyone regardless of their cautiousness or lack thereof - and you had it, as illustrated by how you reframed the game as one for £50,000. (Still double the pre-DoND daytime television record and more than double the average salary in this country, something that's easy to forget after eighteen months of DoND and several months of Noel's 'courage' emphasis.)

If you were going to have that final five, it was probably best for it to come into being that way - you gathered a frightening run of momentum which was surely why the five-box offer was virtually the mean. (Apart from the board's stability, that is.) Unless the £250k survived into the final eight, or to the final eleven with at least one of the top two safety nets, you wouldn't have been given a £20k offer earlier in the game, and in at least the latter of the two cases I suspect you'd have said No Deal anyway!

All you can ask is to take the maximum sum of money the game allows. On this site (courtesy of another, Bother's Bar) we call that an Outright Player Win, OPW. (This is what Billy was referring to.) The majority of players don't get it and quite a lot aren't even close - congratulations on attaining one.

Best game for a long time (well, since Leila anyway...). Kept his head when he needed to, fantastic turnaround, knew when to time a deal and, just as importantly, seemed like a genuinely decent chap (and I'm not just saying that as he posts here...).

Well played Stephen - you earned every penny of that!
