Well, that was not the lowest deal ever but does take the title of the lowest OPL ever, as Geordie at least turned out to have less than he dealt for in his box!

Just one of those extremely unlucky games really. Interesting how some actually want the honour of joining the 1p club when they are reduced to an all-blue board, while others are keen to avoid it at all costs!

I'd be torn at the £49 point....would have to do a sweep, ie whats more important, having the honour of winning a penny or having the honour of the 2nd lowest ever deal, AND taking home some money aswell

I'm sorry but I just found that one of the most hilarious things I've ever seen, the way it was said and built up....

"There is no way I am going in the 1p club. Deal!"

Sorry...   :smt043 :smt046 :smt005

poor roy. i really wanted him to win big. how come all the players recently who have had the guts to play the game (barring gaz :) ) have won next to nothing. those who bottle it halfway through the game win loads. its one of the things thats bugging me at the mo.
anyway well played roy. just wish youd have won more you deserved more

Not nearly as lucky as the last member of local government to play, 'Lucky Lucky' Pat G who got a £20k OPW!

Well, if you "bottle it" halfway through then you're guaranteed a decent amount of money (presumably, or you wouldn't have dealt)...if you "play the game" by just carrying on to the end then you have a big chance of winning nothing!

And Pat G won £16,500!

I liked Roy... right up to the point where he said "I will NOT be a member of the 1p club", with such distaste... I was just thinking "Ugh, it's not THAT bad. Lame."

I was almost glad that he had £100 then... almost. That comment really bugged me though.

Other than that, it was a fun game. Shame about the result I guess, I'd have gone all the way to be honest...

sorry ive just re read what i wrote and its not how it sounded in my head lol
I mean 'bottle it' by dealling early when there is a brilliant board left and theres at least another good round ahead, i dont mean play to the end each time but just while theboards great. play on

What a legend. And what a great game for my birthday! :D

£49 though that's hilarious. I mean come on. If it was 10p or £1 or even £5 I would understad...but the 1p is so legendary! I can imagine an unproar if he had had 50p/£100...been offered £49, dealt and and 50p in his box!!

Funny deal unlucky game I personally think he should have just gone on at the end though and took the consequences like a man lol. ( he was a bit wimpy there)
But it was gold though when he dealt and with his defiant tone " I WILL NOT JOIN THAT GHASTLY THING CALLED THE 1P CLUB DEAL DEAL DEAL" yes I reworded it a bit my own way but it was hillarious.

The comment about not joining the 1p club a statement of defiance I thought was very Geordie-esque (only it was ruined this time due to him not having the 1p)! Poor guy, that was the unlickiest game in ages.

Having watched the More 4 repeat (I was only following the game online at 4.15), that £14,999 actually looked very good in relation to what was on the board at the time, and I might well have taken it had I been playing, as there were only 2 amounts higher! Going on was a reasonable decision I thought, as avoiding the big two would have seen an offer of approaching double that I reckon, but he was just unlucky in the 4th round and he never had a get-out after that! Either I'd have dealt the 3rd offer or the £49!

The £14,999 actually looked more cruel than it really was due to the thought that you could be the biggest ever loser if you take it and have the biggie in your box, it's a great psychological banker weapon to force people on with a board with the biggie and hardly any safety nets! Kind of like the £26k offer gets people to deal, the £14,999 is designed to push you on! I expect that offer to come up a lot more and everyone to no-deal it! :)

In these circumstances Roy or anyone else would be better joining the 1p club, I have a feeling when they get to 22 members of this elite club, there may well be a surprise for them all, they might all get invited back to do the last 22 shows some time in the year 2011, now you never know!!

I liked Roy and respected the way he played the game. On a good day he would have had the guts to win a lot of money but alas today it was not to be.

I don't blame him for dealing either. 1p doesn't buy many beers. :)

Haha, yeah, Lynn rocks! "If it's high, I'm shutting it again!" ...or words to that effect!

Awww poor Roy, shame he didn't win more but in a weird kind of way, the 'DEAL - £49' caption that came up looked quite cool! Welldone Roy for avoiding joining the 1p club! "There is no way I am going in the 1p club. Deal!" Haha! What a legend!

What a boring deal. He would be remembered for winning 1p (but it turn out like that) rather than a low dealer. So I laughed my head off when he 100 pound.

If I had 5 blues left, go all the way and try and win the penny.

I suppose in one way though now the 1p club has so many members its hardly exclusive now hence why I think we might see more original Joke deals so the player can cement themself in their own club lol.
Theres a very funny one coming up later in the year check out the spoilers thread.

Thanks for the correction on Pat G, daniel4389. I couldn't remember for sure so I think I must have thought 'if in doubt, it must have been One Rock' because half the time it is :)

The psychology of the 1p is just freaking bizarre...
