Just realised something spooky:

Jean played on 19th, had Box 17 containing £500.
Jeannie also played on 19th, and also had box 17 containing £500.

:D

Jeannie was so lovely! I'd have dealt at £9000 myself. One thing I don't understand is, how on earth did she get through the game without punching Noel! He's becoming more obnoxious than the wee girl in the BT ads. Anyway, back to Jeannie. Well done on winning £9000 and I hope you enjoy spending it.

Was quite an interesting and different game I thought, it never took off in terms of big money and you can't fault her timing - first ever all-blue final five after the deal I think!

OK it was a bit strange to watch them have to open the last five boxes when it didn't really matter at all, though I was hoping she would turn out to have a really low blue like 50p in her box.

For all people argue in favour of Wakeyism or KPism, it's the variety that makes DOND what it is, and the last two days have been a perfect illustration of that in my opinion.

It probably didn't show so much in recent comments, but I accept people playing the game their way. Where I mostly get frustrated is when it seems as though either there's 22 identical reckless gamblers on the wings (i.e. January 2007) or the players seem to be oblivious to the mathematics involved and make decisions based purely on meaningless psychology.

Also I think part of me is frustrated at the absence of a skill element in the show, and the fact that the big wins nearly always come from very questionable decisions - either from the Banker (Laura) or from the player (Barry) - that result in No Deals. Usually somewhere along the way - and of the really big wins I can name only Kirsty, Lance, Laura and Germaine as exceptions - there comes an offer that most sensible people would take... it's a flaw in the format arguably, the fact that good judgement from both sides will tend to lead to Deals (as both sides have six rounds of, if you like, bartering to come to an agreed price for the box based on its rapidly changing value).

The skill in considering an offer, deciding when its good or bad based on mathematics, weighing that against what's remaining on the board by calculating odds is probably beyond a lot of folk especially under pressure in the chair, under the lights and in front of everyone. The number of times a player will say 'thats a very good offer' when actually if you work it out its not that good is quite high.

Part of the beauty of the game to me is that a players can be a genius at the calculations and odds but if their luck is out they will win peanuts whilst somebody like Barry can ride their luck and gamble their way to a big win.

In any game of chance, no matter how skillfully you play, luck always has the last word.

Oh, absolutely.

I'd actually argue that to be a flaw with games of luck to some extent, but no game always produces fair outcomes with no luck element whatsoever (except possibly chess and a few other such games?), and any luck element whatsoever means the most 'deserving' player has a chance of losing.

And in DoND it's totally different again, because there is a substantial grey area where both decisions can be completely valid (if there were not, there would be no game).

This was a bit of an odd game really - with the first three offers all being the same - and the peak offer only being £9,000. But it was a good deal and it turned out to be the right deal at the right time, one of the lowest ever outright player wins! After she dealt, I was expecting her to keep the £75k in play and then receive a high proveout offer - but luckily she didn't! Also nice to see the first proveout all-blue final five. Well done Jeannie for not being seduced by the £75,000 and dealing a good offer for the board! Enjoy the money, Jeannie.
