Still £50,000 in the pocket is ALWAYS going to be better than something that only "might be".

And hind sight isn't anything to go by.

Ouch. Not good.

(Actually, this is reasonably similar to Kirsty's game, I think...)

Patrick says if he was 30 years younger he would have played on and not dealt at £50,000

Noel opens box 19 and reveals £250,000 :(

Box 11 contains the £75,000

Shame he went too soon, but 50k is a really nice win. It was actually one of the games I've enjoyed most for a long time....until it all went wrong

Today's final 5 offer shows how over-inflated Gus's hypothetical £67K was on Friday. Patrick had £75K on the board compared to Gus's £50K (blue amounts are irrelevant) and got £17K less.

Ooh, good game today, despite the disappointing ending...I think I'd have done exactly what Patrick did. (I'd also have taken the £150k final offer.) It's not very often I'd turn down an offer of over £30k but I though that fourth one was rubbish - especially after Julian's game last week, when he got the same on a much worse board! Glad it paid off for Patrick...he was quiet on the wings but was great in his game, I thought.

That £30,001 offer was rubbish, I would have gone on as well.

Welldone Patrick! Shame you didn't go on to win £150,000 but £50,000 is still loads of money, I hope you enjoy spending it! :D

Wow, what a show! Di's face! :o And Nathan's hair! Image Anyway, brilliant game, Patrick really surprised me, shame he couln't have taken us into that amazing place at the end, but all the same, £50 000-speaks for itself. Why Di and Sarah were weeping seemed a bit melodramatic-the guy's rich for God's sake.

Well, that was a good game. I don't blame Patrick for taking the £50,000. Well done!

Exactly, you would think he'd just gone away with 1p to look at them. Just about any contestant would settle for £50,000 at the start of their game, however the game situation plays out. Beating the Banker and taking the most money available to you in the game is nice, but the outcome is measured by how much money you win and £50,000 puts you in the top 5% or so.

Great game, for once I would have actually dealt when the player did! I think £50,000 would be the level I'd still be pleased with even if I had the £250,000 in my box, its a psychological barrier for me! I'm sure it was just made a bit more painful avoiding the £75k on the wings though, then you could gamble on the last pair! But I've no doubt what actually happened is infintely better than turning down the £50k and ending up with an all-blue last pair - that had the same chance of happening!

I'm not sure whether the hypo £150k was inflated either, I think Kirsty would have got something like that if she'd played after Laura - there'd be a definite decision to make there....

Anyway, well done Patrick, I'm sure you'll really enjoy the £50k!

In some senses, that was a return to what the game used to be about. I, too, would have probably gone there (though if I was the Banker I'd have offered £55,001 to make £35k/£75k look bad), and it was a horribly unlucky finish. Could at least have left himself with a blue/£250k finish, if Laura's game is any guide the offer would have gone down!

It does suck when the best boards go to players who understand the value of money, but he still won five million times more than a few reckless players have managed!
