Box 8 with Felix has the £10

Stephen talks about how much Chantel's supported players while she's been on the wings. :)

Second break @ 28 minutes. Another predictable low win and the deal was so obvious and and excellent one.

Also had £10,000 yesterday, so more money would have been won if she had played then.

BANKER'S OFFER

£1,050

HOW can you not put a  or sdgthju next to THAT offer H???!!! sdgthju ;)

That's easily the most generous monetary offer ever made in the UK, 232% of the average!!! sdgthju

Not sure I agree with the Banker making THAT level of game-breaking offer just allegedly because Chantel flirted with him :| , but to the show's credit that offer definitely makes this game MUCH more memorable than if the Banker just made a conventional offer there and Chantel left with a blue.

That offer being made ruined the whole episode for me.

Sure, it was nice that Chantel left with something of value- it's never nice when someone leaves with a blue. But the whole point of Deal or No Deal is that not everyone has the same luck - some win big, some leave with next to nothing. But throwing in an offer over double the average is just ridiculous. Why not just guarantee everyone a thousand pounds no matter how their game goes?

I sincerely hope this doesn't happen again.

I can't say that I condone one individual being granted favouritism in any way - as was very clearly and obviously the case with Chantel. This was a move made purely for entertainment purposes; if the game were being played fairly, that offer would never have materialised. I am absolutely saying that I believe this game was not played fairly by 'the banker', and went directly against the esprit de corps which is so ingrained in our culture as to be second nature to us. After all, we learn in our infant years that a game played fairly and lost is a game lost with honour and dignity, but a game played unfairly and won is, in fact, a dishonourable defeat. And as for assisting our opponent to win at our own expense...

Of course, Chantel could hardly influence the offer, it has nothing to do with her, and I was relieved to see her go home with something at least...but it was a hollow victory for human sentimentality.

These days, I'm a soft sort of character; I do believe that there ought to be room for human compassion and generosity of spirit in this game, even at the expense of statistical sensibility. Often enough, I find myself thinking, 'do come on, just set the figures aside for a moment and offer them something that'll make a difference!'. To take it to such an extreme as this, however, is an insult to every other contestant who has played this game and taken little away with them except their memories.

Chantel deserved generosity as much as everyone else; no more than, but as much as. She seemed like a lovely person, and I hope she's been able to get that flight back to Barbados with her dad and mates in the time since she appeared on the show! :D

Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.
