James says it's a great offer as there's no back up. He says it would be an easier decision if there was a back up of £2,000 or £3,000. His brother says it's close the amount they agreed James would probably take.

James says:

 NO DEAL

James repeats his belief that the £100,000 is in box 18.

The Banker asks the audience to stop laughing. This game is not good for his heart. He points out the £100,000 is not real money.

BANKER'S OFFER

£27,270

James tells the others to remember that your luck can quickly change in this game. James looks at his picture with box 18 again. He says he would definitely go on if he had box 18. His brother points out the offer is more than double what he had said he would deal at. Tracie points out the average wedding is £17,000 - with £10,000 for a honeymoon as well. Brian points out if it's in 18, he won't win it anyway.

James says:

    DEAL

It's obvious he was dealing, he wasn't going to do a Dori.

He may got the offer of the swap if he was still in live play at two box...

Round 7 - proveout

James says he's lucky to get to this point with no backup.

8 - Brian H - 50p

James says he couldn't risk it.

WOULD'VE BEEN

£57,630

Stephen opens James' box 5 to reveal 10p :D

James' son correctly predicted the location of the £100,000. :D

18 - Meg - £100,000

There's no swap in this version of DoND.

Just what we needed after the previous 2 games, glad James wasn't overly influenced by yesturday's game and was still willing to play aggressively to get the money he wanted but knew when to stop. :D

Not a fan at all though about there being no swap on this version, it basically means your stuck with whatever a random bag of balls gave you before the game and the jackpot is technically unwinnable if someone before you make your random selection selected the box containing the 100k. :smt011

And with that, I am fairly sure I'm done with this revival. It's done a decent enough job trying to work out how many of the endearing-but-also-frustrating rough edges of the Edmonds era to file down, and had seemingly got it right on the capricious inconsistency front with everyone getting the same formulaic offers (even if that means any mathematically competent player is simply deciding which of the endgame offers to play to, that's not every player...) - then they spoil it all with the no-swap rule?!? Sus, as nobody put it until after the original run ended ;)

Another formidable game, James had a volatile 5 box and even more so at 3 box but managed to get £27k so well done James. :) :)

Some box logic:
Even from the start I thought box 18 had the £100k as that’s the number that hasn’t had it for the longest like box 13 yesterday and 10 the day before.

Still don’t approve about the no-swapping, James was a believer and even his kid said that £100k wad in box 18 and maybe just maybe that if that was available he could’ve had what Dori didn’t get yesterday :? :(

Perfect deal at the perfect time

2 great games in a row, well done James!

To be honest, I don't really care about the swapping, I don't see it as a big deal.

Another brilliant game and a huge win! :D

Though one small pet peeve is that it really does exemplify how ridiculous abandoning the swap is. In the Edmonds era it would've been a prime candidate for a first round offer of a swap and would've made absolutely amazing TV!

Yeah, not a fan of the no-swap. It's weird to dispense with it under a guise of "back to basics" when it had alllways been there (the hypo swap was an early element too, even a first round swap was a Series 1 event), but they brought in the 3-box offer?

Feels a bit creepy, honestly, how no hint or mention is made of the concept, even. "If it's in 18 youse ain't winnin' it anyways zzzz", well if you let him swap the damn box it can be won! I'm certain James would have referred to it but it was all left out of the edit. Or maybe Mulhern froze because such a line of inquiry wouldn't have been accounted for in his teleprompter.

And had James selected 18 right after his deal, what would Mulhern have said? "Right, Box 18, it was drawn on your card, you were leaving it alone all this time because you believed it has the hundred thousand - NOW LET'S SEE if it actually contained the £100k - open it!". I mean, Edmonds wasn't great at enforcing proveout honesty, but Mulhern is a downright android about it. They pick box, we open box. Think it was last week when somebody had mentioned several times they were keeping (I think) Box 16, they were actually playing it honestly yet Mulhern was still all "right, where we going, 21, 16 or 12 :-) "... please use a tiny amount of independent, contextually influenced thought.
