Greetings friends, and welcome to this week's Classic Re-Commentary. This week, we're reliving a high contentious big money victory.

The day is Sunday June 27th 2010. England have just been knocked out of the World Cup by Germany after one of the most one-sided World Cup matches of the 2010s, even considering they should've equalised at one point. (I've been writing numerous fanfics since about that goal being allowed and England winning the match) I was on a coach trip across Belgium with friends at the time; they were following the game on their phones, and the bus erupted with laughter when Lampard's goal was disallowed!

Later that day, something equally controversial happened: a game of Deal or No Deal that completely split the show's fanbase. Some were pleased of a long overdue big money win, others unimpressed by how it was allowed to happen. So, let's rewatch Cheryl's game now, ten years on, and see where we stand.

OK, unfortunately the video I'm watching doesn't have the start, but Cheryl has Box 4 on the table and a friend in the audience. We join the action just as the first box is being opened...

Box 3 with £50k Kelly - £100

Box 9 with Dai the Welshman from Scotland - £250

Box 5 with Ovie - £250,000 :(

"That's the wrong thing to pop out!" says Noel.

Box 20 with Rose - £5,000

Box 1 with Cedelle - £1,000

Some man lets out a very loud "YES!" off screen! Noel does not let him get away with this!

The Banker has been looking forward to meeting Cheryl and sees her as very mischievous! Helen, the friend, appears to agree! He says he's looking for two 1p winners in a row (Laurence's ultra-incredibly unlucky game was the previous Friday).

 BANKER'S OFFER

£900

Noel encourages everyone to boo that! A very quick NO DEAL.

Box 21 with Yvonne - £100,000 :(

Noel lets out a very loud "OHHHHH, NOOOOO!", Cheryl a very concise "Oh dear!" "There's still lots there" she says. Noel orders her to find the penny.

Box 6 with Mini - £15,000

"Trouble is, when you've taken out the big ones, you want to keep those middle ones."

And it's a break...

We're back, and Noel says we've had a lot of games recently with too many big reds going early.

Box 15 with Emma - £20,000

"This is weird" says Noel; Cheryl agrees. The Banker says he should go down here, but he's actually going up!

 BANKER'S OFFER

£901

And it's another quick NO DEAL.

Noel demands an all-blue round.

Box 1 with Darren - £50,000 :?

"This has got a Laurencien feel to it" says Noel.

Box 12 with 'Captain Mainwaring' Paul - £35,000  :?

"Where are these blues?!" Noel says Cheryl could be about to equal the record for the most reds in a row.

Box 2 with Harry - £750

"Wrong end" says Noel.

Cheryl says she's going to keep smiling and be positive. The Banker goes on about two 1p wins in a row, and is convinced £75,000 will go in the next round.

 BANKER'S OFFER

£750

And another instant NO DEAL.

Box 10 with Dennis (of the equally controversial £15k win) - £3,000

"Only two reds!" exclaims Noel.

Box 7 with Hayley - £500

"We're not getting into the low numbers" says Noel, before calling a break...

We're back...

Box 16 with Maria (the newbie) - £10

"Well, that's better than Laurence's game" says Noel. Cheryl says her friend Helen had a dream about her game; Helen said she dreamt Cheryl had a 1p-£75k finish! Noel says this is still on track! The Banker concedes we have now broken the trend of Laurence's game...

BANKER'S OFFER

£3,000

And another quick NO DEAL. Noel likes Cheryl's positive attitude!

"You've got to get something out of that top left corner" sats Noel.

Box 22 with Daphne - 10p

"Yes" says Noel.

Box 19 with Rob - £10,000 :?

"Ooh, dear me, now you've got a one-box game" says Noel. The studio remains upbeat.

Box 11 with Christina - £50

"The prediction's still there" says Noel.

"Was this is a full blown dream or a premonition or what?" asks Noel of Helen's dream; Helen says it was the former! The Banker agrees this is spooky, and asks what the final offer was; Helen doesn't know, but Cheryl turned it down and won the £75,000! The Banker is now seriously trying to do a deal. "Let's not listen to the dreams of the insane!"

BANKER'S OFFER

£7,000

"Ooh, really?!", and applause.

Helen asks what Cheryl wants to do; Cheryl says it's a good offer! Helen appears to be advising a deal. "But you had a dream!" says Noel. "I was asleep!" "How else do you dream?!" (Honestly, the atmosphere is so light hearted here for such a precarious game!)

The Banker calls, and asks to speak to Cheryl; he tells her she can play the final round one box at a time! Noel reminds us that he did that on Friday too and Laurence crashed instantly. Kelly says Cheryl definitely has the £75,000 on the table and should go for it!

The Banker calls back just as Cheryl asks for the question, and says he'll offer £14,000 if Cheryl finds a blue in the first box.

In spite of that, it's a DEAL!

Noel says we know what would've happened if she'd gone on and found a blue...

Box 18 with Jez - £1

The Banker calls and confirms...

BANKER'S OFFER
WOULD'VE BEEN

£14,000

Noel says we've been a bit rude to Helen up to now, but the further it goes on, the closer we get to her prediction coming true!

Box 8 with Jenks - £5

"OH!" exclaims Noel, "both factors are still alive!"

BANKER'S OFFER
WOULD'VE BEEN

£21,000

And, if the next box is blue, the final offer would've been £28,000!

"How incredible would it be if this is the 50p" says Noel.

Box 13 with Dave - 50p

"OH! Oh my word! How extraordinary! In a random game, a game where the boxes are filled at random, where they are selected at random, where you play at random, her premonition is HERE, but YOU walked away from it!" Cheryl is laughing quite a lot now!

"The good news in this could be 1p in this box and you've actually denied him that. On the other hand, are every gonna have a friend called Helen again(!)..." "... having walked away from £75,000?"

"Could you have actually gone away with £75,000?"

Just as he's about to pull the seal and find out, the phone rings! The Banker is wondering whether he could've had his dream of two 1p wins in a row.

"I want that so much, I'm gonna offer her the Banker's Gamble!"

Cheryl starts laughing again! The audience bursts into applause with cries of "Go on Cheryl!"

Kelly tells Cheryl to go for it, as it would be a fluke for the 1p to be on the table two games running, and also Del, who has the remaining box, had the £75,000 on Friday! And that would be a bit too much of a coincidence! Noel thanks her for pointing that out!

Hayley then points out Laurence had Box 14 with 1p in it! Noel is starting to lose it with all this Mally logic nonsense! Cheryl isn't having it! She's seen numerous occasions of sums being in the same place twice in a row. Del further adds to the confusion by pointing out he had Box 4 with £75,000 on Friday! "This is absolutely astonishing!"

The wings encourage Cheryl to go for it, and she quickly asks for the question, prompting huge applause!

"Banker's Gamble, Deal or No Deal?"

"DEAL!"

"I'm struggling to remember a Banker's Gamble climax with so many factors in it!" He says he agrees it is a gamble worth taking, as what are the chances of 1p being on the table again!

"You have shown the most massive courage."

Again, he goes for the seal; again, the phone rings at the last moment!

"He can't think of a better time to say SWAP or NO SWAP?!"

"Somebody's dream is about to come true; is it Helen's or the Banker's?"

Cheryl says 14 is her lucky number! Noel is visibly horrorfied at the prospect of all this starting up again! "But I picked this box and I always said I was never gonna swap." Hayley says Cheryl should believe in her box if she believes in fate.

"NO SWAP."

"It's right up there. One of the epic games. It really is."

Noel finally manages to pull the seal on Box 4, and opens it to reveal... £75,000! :D :D :-D :-D
