Assuming the tablet is an iPad, that would be about £2,000.

For the average 2013 player, that would be a marginal decision (which means they would keep the money  ) if the £100,000 was up against the £750. As is, I can count the number the 2013 players on my hand that would take this on.

His sister says it's too much to risk. The banker rings back and says if he deals this offer, he'll also get EVERY gift from under the tree. He asks for a sweep of the wings and no-one would take the offer on!

Noel starts to ask the question and the banker rings and says Paul never got the chance to do the gameplay twist and win the holiday. The snowman with a gold envelope comes on set and the banker gets Noel to reveal that the holiday was a week's all-inclusive holiday for two in the Seychelles.

He now says if Paul takes the gamble on, he'll get the holiday as well as every gift from under the tree.

Paul says

NO DEAL

He keeps the £16,000 + two gifts.

Paul's sister comes down from the audience, and they go to the tree and select the large red box and the small blue box.

Paul wins a LADY'S BIKE from the blue box.

Paul wins BANKER'S DIRTY PANTS from the red box.

Paul gets emotional and says the money he's won will help to restart his life.

Ah well, fair enough result to end the specials.

That's a total of £46,101 won this week which is quite frankly pathetic. Can we please have a more generous Banker in 2014?

Wonderful to see great Christmas spirit on the forums this week. Excellent posts from everyone, as always. Utterly fantastic. Glad to see everyone understands the value of money and is quite respectful of gameplay. Keep it up, folks.

I don't think that was an "easy" banker's gamble to take on. It was effectively being offered pretty much the average on a £750/£35k finish! Plus the prizes in the box wouldn't have been worth nearly as much. The 8-box deal was perhaps a bit cautious (although I doubt many players would've got more than £20k there, so could've been worse), but then it was a less stable board than Lisa's yesterday, and the odds were that at least one of the big numbers would go, and so far every player who's made it to 5-box recently has been chasing the money.

The trouble with the present twist is that if most of the prizes aren't really your thing - Paul did seem a bit indifferent about theme park trips or a tablet PC - they aren't going to be a great incentive for you in the game, particularly as a few of them would be difficult to give away.

A so-so end to a so-so week then, but credit to Paul for taking that ending on the chin.

Considering 3 games had none of the power 5 remaining at 5-box, we should perhaps be thankful it wasn't even less...

Don't remember what Noel said, but one of them was £1,000 and another was a tablet which I assume would be an iPad.

That is true. There were weeks where players couldn't avoid ending up with blues.
