We're back

Round 5

Hilde does a break link telling us not to miss the show, then says obviously we won't miss it as we've come back! She also says it's been a good show.

Newbie Harry next, and Noel asks Hilde what she thinks of his hair, and she says she's seen worse.

14 - newbie Harry - £5

19 - Jim - £500

Hilde talks about how some chicken upset Jim's stomach which is why he was ill, so she gives advice about where to buy chickens.

3 - Gordon - £1,000

Banker time

Hilde sees herself on the gameboard as Noel's about to open her box, and she says she doesn't look too bad.

Hilde wins £1 from her box 8.

Box 22 with Abbey contains the £250

The banker rings back and Noel hangs up on him so Hilde can speak! Hilde thanks everyone and wishes everyone good luck and happiness, and says her family is worth more to her than anything, to which she gets a standing ovation.

That was less of a game, and more an hour-long sitcom set in a game show... plenty of laughs, but the only decision to be made was with a £5k top prize. Blimey, Hilda was 33 when a UK game show gave away £5,000 for the first time!

Nothing to say about this game...except that the cautious level will now be tenfold for the next game, leading to a poor deal and big money thrown away...it's so predictable!

Wow what a character - Noel was never going to get a word in edgeways. I don't think the the game would have been better if it had had more money in it

Had an inkling we were not going to get much in terms of gameplay out of today's game :P

Nice lady was Hilde, Noel and the banker really couldn't add too much more to that game today given the way Hilde was taking over

Hilde was going to be very humble no matter what amount of money she would have got, she just went out there and enjoyed herself and as the old saying goes "It's not about winning or losing, it's the taking part that counts"

A strange game in that even those on the side of the banker would hardly call this a stonking victory - she might have well as won the 1p for the difference 99p made to her. But then again if she had won £250k she would have probably given half to the local cats home. She was proud to be a little bit nuts and then you have to think her of her husband. :rofl

I thought the penultimate offer of £1400 was quite generous given the £5000 was the highest amount on the board, yet she had already dimissed it within one second - albeit that may have been an edited time.

Hilde was a great character and I had been looking forward to her game since she arrived. Unfortunately it proved to be a tremendously unlucky game for Hilda. :( However, Hilda herself provided a very entertaining game with interesting stories and a great attitude to the game. It's just a shame Hilda didn't even get a bit of “smile money” out of the game. It would have been interesting to see how the game would have panned out if the big money had remained – maybe we would have even seen our 3rd £250,000 if the boxes went right. :ponder:

Also when the phone rang at the end of the game I expected that the Banker was going to give her that bottle of £200 champagne she wanted, but she didn't give him a chance and he didn't ring back. :?

You know... I have watched many games with many different characters. But Hilde's was unique. Her philosophy and attitude to life is second to none. Only regret that even though she didn't win a good amount which I was hoping she would have. She will be remembered by all, Noel, Banker, Pilgrims and Wings for her attitude to life alone.

Only £1, but she had that sort of attitude that I've never seen before.

Hilde.. Good luck. I think that most would love you as our wise speaking grandmother. xx

Phil.

As people have said, it was a wonderful show for entertainment today, but a dreadful game for luck - yet again... Hilde was certainly unique, and that's probably up there with the most hilarious trainwreck games of all time, she took it with great spirit, she just wanted to enjoy the experience to the full, the money as we heard from her comments, was secondary to her. If the game had been stronger, we'd have probably missed some of the comedy, so from that point of view it squeezed out maximum entertainment value I think.

A fun game as we expected but horrible luck. If ever there was a case for finding a reason to give a player some sort of consolation prize or bringing out a twist, I doubt many on here would disagree on it being done today.

Noel: "It is sealed by the indepent adjudicator..."
Hilde: "Yes, I know."

I have waited for someone to say that!
I was also laughing my ass off when Hugo revealed the 1p after Hilde said she didn't want it! :laughing
