The turning point was the £22,000 offer for sure. £46,000 offered because it wasn't exactly sure whether or not Sophie really was there to chase the £250,000...I'd have dealt it too, albeit reluctantly given two great five-figure consolation amounts there to snab too and of course a guaranteed few grand...

Was jittery just like everyone else when the perfect round was looking ominous with the last box to go...the OPW confirmed in the last box to fully maximise the tension; just the proveout I love to see :)

Plus the fact it sounds like the banker didn't ring up at 3-box to make a claim about what the next offer would have been! Always find that irritating.

Judging by the last ludicrous offer (which she quite rightly accepted), the program makers are again trying to encourage contestants to go on in their games and keep the 'drama' going.

Surely the opposite? Encouraging her to go on would've meant plonking the offer below the £35k.

Having said that, £46k as a proveout offer would certainly have counted as an inducement to gamble. And even the Laura finish might have drawn six figures in proveout in the circumstances. Thankfully we didn't get those circumstances.

Nice to see two contestants from my home town within a week, and especially one who won a lot of money!

My daughter said she recognises Sophie and thinks she has taught her! :)

I think Priceydav meant that the offer was to try and encourage future contestants to gamble because they might think they will get offers as generous as Sophie's if the gamble goes right.

What a great game. Dumbest comment of the year award goes to Dave for mouthing off this little charm just before her deal "Sophie, can i just say one thing.. for me personally and we've got very different situations. If I was sitting in your seat with that board and that offer I would bite the bankers hand off, but your situations very different. You've got to follow whatever instinct you feel. You've played an amazing game, just play it the way you would play it" RIGHT Dave! You wouldn't get that offer in that situation.

If Sophie showed us how to play the game by (as Noel said, stonewalling him) I have a feeling Daves outburst will cost him dearly in his game. She played the banker amazingly. Well done Sophie.

Game of the year for me. (Yes, even better than Dales)

Sophie's nervousness early in the game and a few of her comments (not least her references to Becky's game) led me to suspect she might be a cautious player / early dealer but she turned out to have just the right amount of determination to secure big offers - more importantly it turns out she did know her limitations. It would have been quite easy to get seduced by that all red 5 box, even with the 60% chance of taking out the big one. It was quite a relief when she said deal, and i cheered when her decision was vindicated, talk about cutting it fine though...

Have to say the proveout offer seemed right to me, any player prepared to risk going on there deserves to get the mean and I'm sure in live play the Banker would have emphasised that

And that may just be my favourite ever 1p kiss :P

Great game, i did not expect her to be offered £46,000 at all. In the build up I just kept thinking she is about to be offered £27,000. Enjoy the money Sophie, spend it wisely.

Well that was a good game to end the week on.

I was expecting the Banker to pitch the offer around £35,000 as that was the second highest amount remaining, so I was quite surprised when the offer was revealed to be £46,000. It was also a clever tactic by the Banker to get Sophie's mum to reveal the offer.

Also, maybe Noel should consider changing his name to Norm. :ponder:
