Very similar offer in terms of % of the mean to Dale's too.

Noel says that Peter is worrying him now as he almost scowled at that offer, and Peter says he would be going against his mum if he dealt.

Before Noel asks the question the Banker calls back and tells Peter it is 50/50 here, and he genuinely respects Peter's thoughts about his mum's feelings, but if he takes the £20,000 then he will still have money in the bank and his mum will be right. Peter asks if he deals can he take a mug home for his mum. The Banker agrees :D

Peter says

DEAL

OH DEAR... OH DEAR... another player who had their chance but blew it BIG BIG BIG time.

Just a massive shame his mum wasn't there, as then he would have more than likely have gone for it.

Just a shame the banker accepted the mug offer.

Should have gone with what his mum said...

My god, that felt such a struggle getting back to the £20k from the second offer and it felt such a relief knowing he was treading on eggshells from, well 7-box onwards, and it still feels rubbish since the £75k could never be hit! So much for the 4 numbers he wanted to leave, containing the three pence values and another blue! :)

Well that's not how I would have been likely to get £20k out of that game. :D

Never particularly disappointing to take the highest offer of the game when only a big gamble will win you more, but I'm not entirely sure that the offer was enough of a relative improvement on the £6,750 to clearly justify the No Deal - Deal combination we got. Both decisions in isolation were reasonable, but I'd expect someone to make the same decision on each (in my case, a marginal Deal).

Despite Peter missing out on £75K, that was one of the best Sunday games I've seen in a while. To decline £6750 with 1p, 10p, 50p, £250 and £75K remaining was INCREDIBLY brave!

I think £26,000 should've been offered when Peter called Doreen the Governor. That would've been more reasonable than £20K which I thought was a bit low.

I laughed, but actually it was a tough gamble to make so I can't judge him realy. The similarities to dales outcome are quite striking though...
If he had dealt at the first 20k, Noel would have been on one heck of a judgemental bitchfest at him.

Couldn't quite take the final gamble but that was a respectable final offer (albeit could have been a bit higher).

Going back to comparisons with Dale's game, he had a mother (albeit actually in the studio) who was imploring him to deal - ironic that Peter's mom had a feeling about the box (although that wasn't to say she would have encouraged him to take an all or nothing gamble had she been in the studio)

That doesn't go according to my definition of a good offer... :? :?

I always reckon about half the average on a 1-box game at 5-box is about right. The FD is about half of what he's been offered due to the volatility of the board.

It did feel lower than I expected, though...

But a brave no-deal all the same. :)

Imagine if he hadn't said 'no' before 'deal'... Noel would have probably been throwing his toys out of the pram. ;)

I've got dodgy feelings at best about people attaching signifance to a number but personally if I were playing knowing that I'd played over the average amount of games, so would probably play that day, I wouldn't be basing my decisions on whether a relative had a feeling that a unspecified number box was going to be a good one.

Not saying that it would have been a mad gamble had he taken it but it was one of those where you had to respect his decision.

A real nail biter of a game that one, I think it was clear from the way that Peter was taking out the middle amounts in the first couple of rounds that he was going to wind up with either an incredibly strong board ala Friday's game or he'd have isolated red(s) in a sea of blues, unfortunately for him he got the latter.

I don't think the Banker gave a single duff offer in the whole game and Peter made some incredibly brave no deals, especially at 5 box but for me declining that final offer would have been more reckless than brave (mind you i said that about Dale and look how that turned out :D ) so I've no real complaint about the outcome.

Makes a change from the usual Sunday trainwrecks

Amazing how you can turn down that many dealable offers and STILL be branded too cautious by some people.

Didn't see this game but it sounds like somewhere amid all the talking points was an interesting player-banker battle in game that would have seen many recent players quit at four figures and miss out on a lot more. In that sense, not a bad day's work for Peter or the banker.
