I thought they didn't bother with the twist in proveout during theme weeks? :ponder:

Certainly i think it would have been worth Charlotte's while taking a punt on the Shield of destiny or whatever it's called but I doubt i would have pushed my luck any further than that.

In some ways it's to be applauded, a player in a themed show dealing when they feel the time is right and not being coaxed on by the need to play the twist, but it is a shame Vicki missed out on a holiday.

Mind you given the tendancy for players with Charlotte's reputation to bring pin money to the table i was half convinced she had £1 in her box.

Had a quick check back and before today 4 people have dealt during Love Week before using the item that gives them an instant offer (Alfonso and Claire-Louise in 2009 and Jo and Davey in 2010). All 4 did get a proveout offer after picking the player who had been given the special object but last year they didn't ask the player to predict their box contents (Davey's game was the unusual one where the banker offered him the chance to swap the Love God's box for another one on the wings).

So it was probably cruel for Noel to have asked Vicki to make a prediction given there was no precedent for doing so.

So this was actually the fifth Love Week show in which the player dealt before using the extra offer item?

My memory must be as selective as Noel's then...

Doesn't make Charlotte's deal any less cautious, though, IMHO.

I've been thinking about this - a lot - and in Charlotte's postition with the chance to open just one box it strikes me that the prudent thing to do before deciding whether to proceed would be to try and get some sort of assurance from the Banker as to what he would do if you took out the biggest value.

Okay it's a 1 in 5 chance youd actually do that but knowing the maximum he could drop would allow you to make a more informed decision

Exactly. Not enough players do it - even if the banker doesn't actually help you, at least you know you tried.
