The banker says Tolleck must be flat out holding his breath now!

Banker's offer would've been:

Noel talks about the nail woman who spoke about box 9!

Sophie has £35,000 in her box 9.

Box 4 with Peter contains the £250,000

Noel talks about Tolleck retaining his title, and he says we must focus on what Sophie's got, and she talks about what she'll do with the dosh.

The banker said he would've doubled the offer from £7k to £14k if she kept the £250k, and at 5-box, she had £35k and £250k left... so surely this offer would've been over £14k. :ponder:

Urgh... that has got to be the most boring game this month so far and the advice on the wings was NOT helping. I can't believe Sophie said £4,500 was a really good offer when it so is not.

I know there was a lot of advice from the wings for that show since I was in the audience. Shortly after the recording Sophie was quite upset knowing the fact she could've had over £100,000 and heard (via Mark Olver) before the second recording she was still upset in the green room but slowly realising the fact she is walking with £7,000. I suppose she is one of those genuine people who did regret the chance for not carrying on.

When I heard at the time of the recording (October 2010) The Banker would double the offer at 5-box my initial thought was (low/crap offer) but then again I did thought that now we're in a era of cost cutting, I wouldn't be surprised if they lowered the offers a little bit more. Also The Banker plays more against the contestant these days rather than using the board. Unless there is a serious gambler or math genius where he would play against the board.

I bet some of those audience members were disappointed after having come probably MILES to see DOND only to get one of the bad games. :smt009
I'd love to go see DOND but Bristol is like 100+ miles away from where I am now. :|

So Tolleck holds on to his title, just... I guess Noel won't forget him unless someone does lose to the Banker by more than £241k. ;)

Call me cynical but Sophie deserved to have the £250,000 in her box...and deep down she knows it, given her bad reaction to going too early!

But let's look at this more logically; she'd have probably taken the £13,750 anyway so it was almost definitely going to be a huge win for the Banker :|

I think what the banker said was that he would offer £14K+ if she picked all blues - so I suppose he felt obliged to offer less than £14K when she picked £1000.

However I do think £15,000 would have been a fairer offer at 5 box.

I agree - I think she would have gone at 5 box anyway - and it would have been a sensible decision.

I'm over 200 miles away from Bristol (albeit via a direct train route) and I've been 5 times now.

Another good banker reading of the player today. £7k and £13.5k were terrible offers for the board but obviously money Sophie couldn't afford to gamble with.

Not surprised she felt a bit down after she could have had an extra £100k+ but had she not left the £250k to the end with the £35k, although she still would have dealt for 20% of her box contents, her offers in the meantime would have been a lot lower.

Can't help but think 35k/250k finishes are likely to go the same way as 20k/250k finishes and be pitched mathmatically low to push the player on; can see the 2-box offer not being much more than 80k in live play. That said, we were never going to get a power 5 box win today. Sophie was unlucky to miss the 250k in proveout but some seem to view it as just desserts...

Mixed feelings about that one. The part of me that believes a player should always trust in numbers of deep personal significance feels that Sophie should have put more faith in the woman at the nail bar and box number 9.

But on the other hand, let's be honest here. That board at 8 box was about as scarey as it gets - two very isolated big reds and a cluster of shrapnel sized blues. It was a (wreckless) gambler's board and Sophie was never going to be that sort of a player. It's very easy to say go on from the comfort of your armchair or even the wings but I wouldn't want to play that board...

It's a shame that she couldn't find the £250k in proveout, that would have at least sweetened the pill a little for her.

And why is Tolleck considered the biggest loser on the show anyway. Technically shouldn't it be Corrine? The Banker saved £24,999.99 on her game, you can't get a bigger margin than that. :ponder:

At least nobody referred to "Sophie's choice", unlike Dermot on X-Factor...

Spooked by the dangerous board, not the worst Deal ever but certainly in the top... 100? Deflated hypo-lie at five-box was odd, but just served to magnify the impact of the following all-blue.
