Delicious! I didn't even watch the show today nor need to. I could just see what was coming after the £30k offer. Im almost certain the banker knows that even such a generous offer will result in a no deal from a particular type of player. For example theres just no way he would have offered that amount to the more conservative players

I thought £30k was pretty dealable but at the same time with 4 of the P5 still in play there was plenty of incentive to go on. The 5 box offer though...seemed a prudent time to cut one's losses

I didn't dislike Adam but i do think he got a touch of money fever there, whether he was just talking the talk about having 'big money' in his box or whether he genuinely believed it he needed a reality check.

It might have been the editing but no one on the wings seemed prepared to play devil's advocate and point out the Worst case scenario. Okay, maybe he wouldn't have listened but I'm not convinced he even considered the possiblilty he might crash & burn

Wow, what a horrible crash, and as people have said, the decisions were totally justifiable mathematically, it was difficult for him to opt out at £16k when he'd just been offered £30k, but to not leave either big red (or any as it turned out) was a bit unlucky.

Ok, now for something exciting - well sort of. I've thought it would be an interesting idea to occasionally provide a visual summary from a key moment in a game, today of course being the £30k offer at 8-box. There's quite a lot of info to digest here, so be warned - basically I developed a calculator that works out the 'benchmark figure' you can see, the lowest amount the contestant should theoretically accept a deal at, mathematically speaking. If the offer is below this, the panel is green (for go) and "No Deal" is recommended, above this it is red (for stop) and "Deal".

Some handy probabilities on here too. Ok, ready...?

I think that was a major faux pas on Adam's behalf. I for one would have dealt at £30,000. Prudent you may say but we've all seen the amount of crash and burn type of games in February alone.

As I said in LV's thread, have the players been un-nerved by recent events? The Banker is certainly taking no prisoners at the moment. Makes Dale's game seem a dim and distant memory in the riches stakes.

Phil.

Actually i would have probably dealt £30k too. With 4 above my heart would have wanted to go on but my head would have weighed up the odds of a major hit and the chances of the offer going down and dealt what i would hope to be the peak offer

I enjoyed this show, was this the greatest crash ever? In a way, I feel it was deserved as Adam was too hung up on having 250K, then a 100K, etc, etc in his box. Overlooked a very good £30,000 offer, greed maybe?
I would like to see the look on his Mum's face when he gets home and puts a cheque for £250 on the table :D

On the bright side, he can go and buy himself a new truncheon

Well you can never please everyone all the time!!

I bet if he'd dealt the £30k and proveout not gone in his favour there would have been similar messages to this but with the opposite criticism!!! ;-)

On 16 January 2009 Tony went from £40k to 50p.

And don't forget Corinne...

With memories of comments about Jonathan from November dealing £30k at 8-box and missing the £250k in proveout... you're spot on.
