We are happy about that, but it won't be enough for Tony says Noel. Noel then says this will be an honest figure from the Banker now

Banker's offer would've been:

£29,000

Hopefully he will change his mind. The biggie is still there, and just one box to open at a time.

If the banker is telling the truth then this is a pathetic attempt at trying to warp the game to make it more interesting for viewers.

The Banker calls and asks what Tony would do if he allowed Tony to change his mind now, in fact what if he offered to change his mind and just open 1 box at a time! Tony asks if he can do a sweep of the wings, and he gets mixed replies.

Dale asks if Tony will kick himself if he has the £250,000 in his box, and Tony says he would and he knows that you have to turn down big money to win big. The Banker starts to get impatient with Tony.

Tony says he can't risk it and let down his kids...

Should have accepted the offer. The banker gave him a huge lifeline.

Noel asks if Tony has blown it and missed out on £250,000.

Banker's offer would've been:

£66,500

Just turned on for a few minutes there and it seems like they just introduce a silly new twist everyday. Now they're gonna guilt-trip him for not taking a 5-box banker's gamble, they are coming up with some really desperate stuff here. Switched off again in disgust!!!

That would have done so much says Tony. Noel does a big build up saying that 4 people this year have turned their backs on the £250,000 so far, and is Tony going to be the 5th.

Noel opens Tony's box 9 and reveals £100

Charlotte with box 14 contains the £250,000

The whole game would have changed if you opened that box earlier says Noel. Tony says he is gutted that he didn't play on a little more. He talks about his plans for the money he has won.

These gimmicks are just getting stupid. Can we not ever have a normal game? If this keeps up then Channel 4 will lose viewers, not to mention that another player chickens out on a rubbish offer. £22,150 was abysmal for the board. We are REALLY overdue a big win. Where are the players who want to go for it? I could see Dale really wanted Tony to take the gamble at 5-box. I can't wait to see his game!

Oh, and £29,000 after taking out £100K & £75K? Give us a break, Banker.

Don't know if it was just me or was Noel looking a bit subdued and/or exasperated at the end of today's game

Looks to me as if he's getting a bit fed up of these 4th round deals

Agree with BankerSpanker, we don't need all these desperate gimmicks cluttering up the game trying to force a feel good ending especially after the controversy of Tracey's game

The producers probably faced a choice between casting interesting players and gamblers (in 2006-7 they could get entire wings who were both), and (quite rightly) chose the former, but are still trying to push the gambling element - with disastrous results.

This was at least an interesting twist, and one the player bought upon himself, but I don't know why the £29k hypo-joke had to come in first. And one at a time to add to the pressure! I suppose we have to give credit to Tony for resisting it, but he lost his job amidst a collapse in an industry built on deeply questionable financial risks, and he may well have been under pressure in his job to sell mortgages to people who should never have got them, no wonder he was cautious in this game!

And at least we're getting a string of £20k+ wins, three out of four since Kirsty's deux ex machina, and the fourth was a five-figure win too...

Good god, this is getting far too easy for The Banker and far too predictable now!

You missed the £37k hypothetical offer after Zowie's box.

The relief in the studio when the blue was revealed at the end was huge. Considering the £28k Ian took a couple of weeks ago with £10k as back up, £22k was a little low but as Noel said, the financial situation is causing people to be more cautious.

These twists are getting a bit silly now but fair play for Tony to sticking to his convictions and not being forced into a gamble which would have been a risky one.
