The banker says Karen was just unlucky, and not stupid. He says his jaw hit the floor when she said no deal.

Noel says that's creeping very close to the average. Noel asks Karen's boyfriend, who says maybe she should risk it like she has so far! John says he doesn't think it's worth risking, and Karen's dad agrees.

Karen says

Boxes were never renowned for their good memories.

Didn't see this game but sounds like Karen didn't lose out on a lot more by going to the end, so could have been a lot worse.

Don't know if i'm the only one to notice this but Karen is actually the second attractive bonde 20-something CSI from Bristol to play this year - the other being Jodie back in June.

Sadly, that's where the similarities end, although both made some brave decisions Karen didn't have the same good fortune.

Thought that was a good game (though she should definately bin the boyfriend) and despite the misfortune in round 5* Karen only missed out on £5k so a respectable result.

*Oh god, my heart when out to her when that happened, that really was cruel luck

As KB said, it's just a shame she didn't pick the round 6 boxes a round earlier. My initial reaction to £15k without the FD calculator was that it was a little low for the board (I thought it was worth closer to £20k) but the FD wasn't far off £15k.

It was a calculated gamble to no deal £15k and to hit the 10.7% nightmare was horrible and although the 2-box offer was one of those that was close to the mean but with £1k guaranteed so neither decision was wrong, it was good that Karen got £10k in the end.

At least she and her boyfriend didn't have a long journey home to discuss the game.

Interesting game, and a rather neat final 3 of £100, £1000 and £10,000, and indeed one of those finishes where the pilgrims have to watch the opening carefully! Particularly spooky numeracy when compared to today's edition of Pointless, where after the opening 'pass', the scores were 1, 10 and two 100 scores (on the 100th show as well!)

Anyway, I digress, that was moderately entertaining. Karen was quite a bubbly character - I think she was a bit over-critical of her no deal of £15k, probably used to over-analysing things in her job! She shouldn't have too many regrets as a drop to £10k is a utility deference that most people could cope with. Incidentally, my calculator said £15,295 at that stage, so it's kinda saying either decision was justifiable there interestingly, although I'd have been tempted to give it another round there.

I'm sorry to say this, but I honestly thought Karen's boyfriend was a complete and utter a**h**e.

Any invited ones who clearly want the player to take such-and-such an offer when there's a good reason not to, are angry (whether or not this is disguised) when he/she doesn't and goes on to crash, and choose not to support him/her afterwards, don't deserve any praise whatsoever.

Even more in this guy's case - even when Karen got the £10k he still wasn't happy.

Did he not realise that it was her game and not his?!?

The other pilgrims and contestants were right not to applaud him when he came down to the Pound Table - and Noel didn't appear to warm to him either, judging by his closing remark.

Of course he didn't warm to him - he encouraged caution. ;)
