Jess's game today.

Noel says it's official that Christine's game yesterday contained the most agonising decision in the history of the show, and she says she was an OHO but didn't go for it, and missed out on £50,000.

Jess has box 19.

Jess is a trainee accountant from Northampton, and Noel says that's too exciting for words! Jess explains she has a degree in maths and French, and Noel wonders if she could be an accountant in Paris. Jess shows an old pic of her parents, a pic of her brother and sister, and another pic of her extended family.

Here we go...

After that introduction, I'm awfully glad we have another mathematically competent player in the chair, because someone with a lesser grasp of the game could be vulnerable to being talked into playing on against their will...

The banker says Christine's game was really nail-biting, and he says he's been searching for years for a woman who can't say "no". He says this game is a battle of people who love numbers.

Banker's offer:

£6,750

I think that counts as an average opening round.

Bill now, and Noel speaks to him, and we find out he's just an old man from Glasgow.

Jess says she likes to stand back and look at the board, so both he and Jess stand at the back of the audience.

12 - Pat - £50

Noel gets Jess to call a break...

Well, that's looking good now.

How old is Jess? I ask because her risk preferences could be greatly affected by how far into her training she is - usually it's a three-year process after university, and there's a very substantial pay increase upon qualifying, but the associated exams have quite a high failure rate... so her risk preferences will probably be driven by how far through the training she is!!

We know she has the knowledge to play this game well, and she's got about as good a board as you can reasonably ask for now. Wonder how the offers will develop?

Right, she's 22. She's probably taken either a gap year, or her degree was a four-year sandwich course, and if that's true, she's in the first year of her training.

That, to me, implies relative caution. On the other hand, it depends if she's seen any of her colleagues quit/be fired due to exam failure. The risk of her not qualifying as an accountant is probably as relevant to her decisions today as the risk of the board collapsing.

The producer takes no chances, with an 'offer' designed to make absolutely sure we get to the ADP.

Jess says that's a lot of money, and Noel says it's candid of her to mention her student debt. Jess talks about how much studying she's done during her life, and talks about how her parents wanted the best for her. Bonita says what a strong board Jess has.

Jess says

NO DEAL

Surely she of all people will recognise the non-onerous nature of student debt? I don't know how much student debt I have, because I know that it will be cleared as part of my income, and eventually I'll get to a point where suddenly I'm keeping more of my income. :)

Also, I don't even know if you can pay off student debt early... she shouldn't be a targetist and yet it sounds like she is :?

Round 4

3 - Hitch - £10,000

6 - Bonita - £100

Noel says Jess has been studying while everyone's been partying, and she didn't have a break link prepared because she's been busy studying! Noel gets her to call a break...

The Banker is going to get schooled by Jess if he's not careful. The fourth offer should be a minimum of £35,000 if this is blue.
