I posted on Facebook about this; why do all the inspirational players tend to do so badly on the show? It's rotten luck...but I loved Noel's end comment: he said felt very lucky to host the show as it means he gets to meet men like Allan!

It's because the very cautious ones get all the luck but waste it halfway through

Yes, bad luck - Alan's story was pretty inspirational, real triumph through adversity, and I'm sure a lot of us were rooting for him to do well. He had a wicked sense of humour and it was quite an entertaining game with his lively personality despite the collapse, but at least he took it with good spirit. Not sure about Noel's comment that 10p/50p is the 2nd worst finish, I'd have thought 1p/50p was worse, but turned out to be pretty irrelevant, when you have 2 blues it's game over anyway.

Allan was indeed an inspirational player and that game was full of humour, but there wasn't much luck . Still a highly entertaining show regardless

Am i the only one thinking the Banker missed a trick with the offers though? I was half expecting him to throw in an eyebrow pencil aftwer that devastating third round

I seem to remember him saying the same at the other end once. I can't remember when he said it but I'm sure he once said that £75,000/£100,000 is the second best finish, when of course £75,000/£250,000 would surely be a better finish?

Such a disappointing outcome for such a lovely, fun, cheeky man.

I really enjoyed all the banter with Allan’s friend in the audience (“dimmer switch” )… I know you shouldn’t laugh about her mum falling off the roof when she put up Christmas decorations, but Noel’s comments about it were funny (“Did she step back to admire her work?”)!

I know there's no such thing as one playing deserving a win more than others but you have to feel sorry for Allan (although it wasn't a unavoidable trainwreck due to a 8-box offer which was above the FD).
