Kevin turns to his wife again, she thinks it is a good offer. Kevin says that he is only here for his boys and this is all about them. Kevin goes to his wife again, but she says that this is all down to him now. The Banker calls and offers some help, if Kevin got an all blue round the offer will double, but if he gets it with the 1p it would be £30,000. Kevin says the whole purpose of coming on the show was to clear some debt and also get a deposit to move back to where he originally came from.

The Banker increases the offer to

£12,500 + Cake for Kevin's son!

Kevin says

DEAL

Here it is – the Start of Series 6!

Kevin today…hmm my guess as to why it wasn’t Maria came true soon enough – she had the £250,000! What a start to the series that could have been.

Anyway, a fairly mediocre game through and through really, but at least he went away with £12,500.

Strange twist at the end, I always find the win/win twists very contrived .

I thought we’d been promised memorable games to start of the series!

Well that was out of the blue, stunned me when he dealt and then pulled out an OPW to start the Season :)

Good game, I suppose

Probably better to start the season with a 'standard' game with a happy ending rather than one that's memorable for all the wrong reasons.

Kudos to Kevin for not caving into pressure to get the first game of the season to an 'epic' start at the cost of following his instincts. And enjoy the £12,500!

Very reminiscent of Gail's game. First game to kick off a new season, and whilst it wasn't spectacular, it was a banker spanking and a feelgood game. I liked the player too. I think Kevin kind of shares the same sense of humour as me, so I actually found him quite entertaining at times. Good game. :smt023

That was a nice way to start the series - yes I know some people will just think it was another average game but it was a nice feel-good ending (I have to admit I thought he'd bolted out the door too soon) and I have no problem with the banker doing the £100 for every winger thing at no risk to Kevin - they've done it plently of times before in special games when a certain board value is found in the opening round, and it's similar to the £1,000 behind the bar for Dan Judge getting an OPW. Nothing like giving Dennis another £7,500 for no risk whatsoever! Paul's reactin to it was priceless!

But the funniest thing for me was Jayne, her game is now eagerly anticipated. I could have sworn I heard her say "F*** off" in the banter before she opened her box though, did anyone else hear that?

Less of the Americanism please. In this country a season is one of four divisions of the year.
DOND is a series. I was glad to see it back and loved the contestant in spite of the minor irritation. :box:

Nice to see the show back. It seems the videos in the opening titles have changed but nothing else has (which isn't surprising as there was no filming break between the last July show and today's).

Well judged 8-box offer and ignoring the 1 in 14 chance of the all-blue round and a very generous 5-box offer, the deal was probably the right decision although no-dealing wouldn't have been a terrible decision.

A nice if unspectacular way to start the series, can't really argue with a Banker spanking, or seeing one of the Banker's Random Acts of Kindness.

Kevin came across as pleasant enough - And the Duck joke was pretty funny too :laughing

I was a bit confused at first as to why there seemed to be so many unfamiliar faces on the wings then i realised that the only time we've seen some of these players they've been dressed as Ben Gunn. They did look very different

...and we're back! Wow, so much has happened during the Summer Break, including my computer completely crashing so don't expect many detailed stats for a few months while I get the files back up to speed! I was also involved in a rather unfortunate 'incident', but I'd rather not go into that...

Anyway, decent start to the season with a banker spanking, a 'gentle easer' you might say, and an uncharacteristic banker that almost gives as much to the wing contestants as the player in the chair... and food in an offer, is that a first?!

Throughout this season, I'll be continuing investigations with my Expected Value calculator, by comparing the estimate it gives with the actual offer received at time of deal. This will give a number, and generally the higher the number, the more risk-averse the player:

Today's metric: Actual offer: £12,500 Estimate: £12,093.15 Score:1.03

Similar to the start of Series 5 with Gail, a nice OPW.

Good start, was nice to see all the players back again (had forgotten a couple of them though...).

And here we go again. Kevin works in banking so presumably has some sense of how money and probabilities work...

A perfectly acceptable opening round leaves the top 4 values in play. First offer is as pointless as ever. And no £250,000 opening for this season. Blue after the break leaving a decent £100,000 board. £7,500 is a bit low and rightly no dealed.

£75,000 goes along with 2 blues leaving a reasonable 11-box board. £7,500 again. For a cautious player this is dealable. I think most would continue though.

Two more blues go along with the second lowest red. A good 8-box now but this is a bit unstable. I'd be hoping for a good offer to get out at this point. £12,500 would probably JUST about get me out of the chair. The addition of cake obviously makes this a cast iron deal. And he takes it.

And what a deal! The two highest values go in the next two boxes. No £20,000 in the box stops Noel from being able to put any spin on what is a good OPW to open the season.
