I don't think anyone's had a 1p/10p/50p 3-box before, have they?

I'd be begging for a 3p offer here, so I could at least start a new club of my own here.

Laurence says he just can't believe it. Noel says this just defies everything. Noel worries why we are waiting so long for the Banker to phone.

Banker's offer:

2p

Noel says that Laurence is already crowned as the unluckiest male player ever.

Noel opens box 14 and reveals 1p

Box 11 with newbie Dai contains the 10p

What can you say about that asks Noel, and Laurence says he is just gutted for his wife as he wanted to take something home. Noel tells Laurence to take advantage of the unluckiest male contestant ever and get some t shirts printed and open supermarkets and fetes!

Laurence becomes the 31st member of the 1p club

The unluckiest player of all time, sorry even Nikki wasn't that unlucky!

And to top it all off, he joins the barge!

Suddenly I think for the first time ever, we have a negative game being a real contender for Show of the Month!

I was right - I predicted that Laurence would win 1p.

Still, we haven't had a 1p member from Scotland before today have we? :D

Well, I suppose if you're going to have an unavoidable trainwreck you may as well do it in style!

Incredibly horrid luck from start to finish. All of the power five gone by 11-box, 7 blues vs 10k at 8-box, and the nightmare 3-box and 2-box. Not to mention that he found 10k straight after the 'one box at a time' gimmick (though that seems to happen a LOT :? ).

But... yeah, arguably the unluckiest game ever. Oh, and it's also the first time in 107 games that someone has brought the penny to the table.

Not to question the banker's calculations but from a 7 red/8 blue scenario, I make the probability of taking out 6 reds in a row to be 1 in 715 and I think the banker said it would happen once every 18 months if you played 7 days a week. I make it more like once every 2 years.

Don't think so. It'd happen on average every 1540 games (as I'm sure you'd already calculated), so it's not that unusual for us to see it happen just once in nearly five years worth of games so far.

Because Corinne's show-of-the-month-winning game had a fantastic result...?

That has to be the pinnacle of horrendous bad luck and it happened in just one game

Just end the Season now...

Well that's about as unlucky a game as you can get. Especially that nightmare final found which must have been even more excrutiating having to play it out one box at a time.

Poor Laurence, he just didn't stand a chance against that board.

Just realised that even if he'd have taken the swap offer, he'd still have had the nightmare finish (although without joining the 1p club).

Still not sure where the banker got his probability of once every 18 months (which would be about 1 in 540 ish) as Noel said the odds of taking 6 reds out of 7 which I get to be 56/6435 or about 1 in 115.

Games like Laurence's are quite surreal really. I mean, most of the time trainwrecks don't make particularly pleasant viewing, especially if they're the kind where there was no chance of bailing out whatsoever. But when you watch a game that's just so incredibly unlucky, in a cruel sort of way it's kind of entertaining since you wander just how far the misfortune will be stretched. As I said, if you're going to win pennies, you may as well do it in style! On the plus side, I think we can safely say that we probably won't be saying a game this bad again for a very, very long time...

Regarding whether this is unluckier than Nikki's game, it could be argued either way really. Obviously Nikki had no offers in four figures, and a worse 8-box and 5-box, whereas Laurence had a worse 11-box (Nikki still had 75k at that point) and obviously a final three of penny finishes topped off with the nightmare final two. And of course he won £99.99 less...
