The banker phones back and says he's changed his mind - Beryl will have an offer after the next box if Beryl goes on! Noel says Beryl may be having a wonderful day but everyone else is scared stiff for her! Tom says the banker's being very kind and £26k is a great sum, but talks about a sum Beryl spoke about. Beryl talks about how she eventually purchased a house but still owes £50k on it.

Beryl says NO DEAL

Banker time

Oh my, this is getting really tense...

The banker says if Beryl goes on and finds the £250k, the offer will be £50 BUT if she goes on and leaves the £250k in play, the offer will be £50,000.

Banker's offer:

£27,500

Beryl says why is the £250k still out there? Why hasn't she picked it by now? She says if the offer had been £30,000, she'd have known what to do! The banker phones back and says his job is to make it as difficult as possible for the player and get the box for the least amount of money, so he's not changing the offer!

Beryl says NO DEAL

Banker time with £10 and £250 remaining

Argh, hate when that happens. Bet she really hoped now it was her game on Friday.

Beryl did a Trevor...in some way...

Beryl says she's loved every minute of this and it's been a dream. The banker says Beryl's going away with love, respect and admiration.

Banker's offer:

Beryl says NO DEAL

Beryl tells Noel not to worry and she says she's suffered far worse than getting a tenner!

No, she'd have won 50k. She wasn't interested in becoming a quarter-millionaire - she just wanted to pay off the rest of her mortgage! She was basically a targetist with a very high target...

What a depressing game overall though. She was one box away from getting what she wanted, and the fact that everyone was getting so emotional made it more so. It's ironic that Emma had the 250k when she was the one who seemed to be the calmest at the time (compared to Kelly and Jonny at least). Beryl definitely didn't go along with the namesake's tradition of caution, and it really felt like it was going to pay off. And she wins the most boring blue possible as well...

That was so like Brunhilde's game it was untrue....except the reason for needing the money was different and the target was higher.

Maybe so, but she would be able to pay it 5 times over and still have some money left for luxury things
