What a contrast compared to yesterdays game. I, like many on here was on tenterhooks come 5-box.

I thought that he'd go all the way myself. How often do you see £250,000 at 2-box? But as Noel said, it was 9th December 2009.

I don't think I would have swapped had it been me if still in live play but again, so near yet so far away from seeing the first male quarter-millionaire. But that said, £77,000 is definitaley not to be sneezed at.

Well done, Ramesh and enjoy your money. :D

Phil.

How? Noel bases whether or not it's a victory for the box that the contestant swapped for, not the box they originally had...

I assumed (and actually, in this case, wrongly) that Noel would either spin it as "you could have had £250k" or "£250k on the table!!" - but when the latter happened, he only gave a cursory mention to the latter.

There is precedent for a guilt-trip after hypo-swapping a big number for something much smaller and I assumed the worst about today's scenario. Delighted to be proven wrong!

Brilliant game.

Was it the exact same 2-box as Caine? I'm sure Caine had £5 but I can't remember all too clearly, because I just see it as Blue/£250K :-D

What surprised me was the final offer - it was £5K more that Caine's at that stage, with the exact same board.

But well done Ramesh, enjoy the money!

[edit] I never saw your post Dan, and yep it was the same 2 box - hence the surprise from me.

Simply brilliant!

Seldom we see a player who's feeling confident, lucky, knows about maths, AND gets the right boxes to keep the fate in his own hands...if only he and his wife didn't have that dream, just imagine what he would have walked away with had he left one of the two big boxes to the end with his box 13!

Fantastic man, a brilliant contribution to the show, in my opinion even got to wear the best costume for the Easter Specials  and the biggest winner in 13 months! Just perfection!

It's ironic that Ramesh had the elusive £15,000 in his box yesterday, and today 250K!

Brilliant game. I don't think many would have gone on with an offer of £51,000. To think that he was one box away from an offer of £7 says it all! Well done Ramesh! :)

Holy moly, Ramesh gave me a few heart attacks in the last round!!

I was actually really surprised he was a massive winner given that he seems to post quite regularly here, not many seem to do that! And being a wing-position anorak, believe it or not he is the first one from E6 to win a power 5 sum, the previous closest being Zahida's £34,000!

And I can't ever believe that someone would swap on a £250k/blue finish, even Wakey! You feel you wish he'd left one of the other two big reds from 5-box but his two lucky numbers were both the blues I guess, so he was always going to take out both the £100k and the £50k, and it would have been one of most devastating last rounds ever if he'd completed the hat-trick, but fortunately he never could with it on the table, but thank goodness he wasn't offered a first-round swap! :)

Just what we needed another a nothing win!!! :D

Didn't see this game but it sounds incredible; it is perhaps a shame Ramesh didn't leave one of the other boxes to the end but perhaps it was that dream that made him go on. And to get £77,000 after having what turned out to be the worst possible round he could have had isn't so bad really! :bluelol

Well done Ramesh!

You should know by now they ALWAYS do the swap business if the £250,000 is there at the final two, proveout or in play. You gave me the impression this was the first time ;)

The way I see it is the purists on this site will say Ramesh have sold a £250,000 box for £77,000, therefore losing to the ol'man. Where as the regular viewer, Noel, the crew, the audience and the contestants at Bristol will see it as Ramesh Spanking The Banker by selling a £5 for £77,000.

Don't be surprised if in tomorrow's intro, however, Noel spins it the other way and starts talking about how Ramesh could've been the first male £250k winner...

...Although hopefully the fact he's still season 5's biggest winner will have put paid to that.

I think you are spot on, Rico7. Even I was thinking at the £51,000 offer at 5-box, "Erm, ummm... Would I??" But given the power of the board and the massive risk to destroy it totally in just three boxes... It takes a brave/foolhardy contestant to no deal such a massive amount.

Only this time it did pay off. Not a general Banker spanking as such, but if DonD were a game of cricket today, he'd have been hit for six and out of the ground. OPW by a country mile. :-D

(Surprised he hasn't made a comment on this thread yet!)

Phil.

Well done Ramesh. It takes a heck of a lot of courage to no-deal more than £50k before 2-box.

To be honest, when you win £77k with a blue as backup, where the £250k is isn't really relevant, although with it on the table, we hit the wrong end of the coinflip of of having KB's sought after 6-figure offer.

Absolutely amazing game, Ramesh had the gift of a strong board combined with nerves of steel. To be honest I would have probably walked at 5 box myself, really impressed that he held out for another round.

It's a shame he couldn't have had an all red finish but statistically i think blue-red was the most likely final combination, it was just a question of which red he would keep.

And finally the £250k returned to the table only to be (hypo) swapped away, is that 100 shows between appearances, must be close.

What an incredible game, really edge-of-the-seat stuff especially from 5-box. It all seemed to be going brilliantly, then I thought he was heading for the nightmare round which of course would've been utterly devastating, but thankfully that wasn't possible, and that 77k offer was FAR too good to turn down!

The frightening thing is I was initially tempted to go on at 51k myself, as it seemed a great opportunity to go for the jackpot prize, but I think I would've dealt in the end as breaking the 50k mark was a huge barrier and I'd be unsure of the blue/250k offer being a lot more - imagine if the banker had stuck on £51k and then he'd swapped for the fiver... As it was, I don't think it would've taken much less for Ramesh to have gone on, had it been £66k for example.

Anyway, fabulous game and 3 70k wins in the last couple of months can't be bad!

After Monday's game, this is EXACTLY what we needed and what a game it was.

Ramesh was brilliant, a lovely gentleman who seemed very down to earth and I am very pleased for him to get such a massive sum!

I personally would have dealt £51k (even though that was an ideal situation to maybe become the first male £250k) but I had no problems for him no dealing that, it made for intense viewing.

It may be a bit early to call, but unless we have a game that eclipses this one (not necessarily in terms of money..), this is going to be game of the month. And to topple this, would be incredible.

Well were already into April, this should be "game of the month", maybe game of the Season if no one else wins more than £77k
