Box 11 has had £750,250 in the last 4 games, which almost puts it in 'death box' status, funny how Noel was talking about it yesterday and how it surely couldn't happen again, and then it has it again today.

"What happened in the round" is irrelevent. All that matters is the board at the end of it. And for a board with a mean of ~£13,000 £1,000 is an insult.

I think it is relevant sometimes though.

If you have an 8-box of 3 blues/£15k/£20k/£35k/£50k/£75k and take out the 3 highest reds, then the 5-box offer will be an insult. However, if you have an 8-box of 6 blues/£15k/£20k/£35k and take out the 3 lowest blues, then the 5-box offer will likely be half-decent. Despite the fact both 5-box boards are the same in these fictitious scenarios.

The momentum of the previous round does often have an affect on the banker's offers.

The second example has 9 boxes at 8 box BTW.

Only one decision to make today and that was whether to swap or not. By my reckoning the odds of taking out the top 6 boxes in 8 selections from the 14 box stage is about 1 in 200 (15/3003 to be exact).

Oops - Ignore the "£35k" at the end of that sentence and it makes sense!

Didn't they all return (well most of them) for one of the show 1,000 specials? I'm sure at one point, the banker had the 1p winners in the audience. Although I have a feeling it was on the day of "his birthday" in 2008, actually.

There is? I've actually seen four £250 wins, if that's the amount you were thinking of.

Well, if we're being really pedantic, 'flood' Adam got an extra 50p with his £250, but yeah I said 3 merely to make a comparison with the 1p, and 4 would've sounded odd.

So, you saw Terry and Diane the next filming day after Rod? That means you've officially passed the £500,000 mark in live games, congratulations! :smt023

I meant to actually play again. I know they always say you only get one chance in the chair, and they've stuck to that for nearly 4 years now, but I've always thought that at some stage they will invite some of the unluckiest contestants back for another go. It could be just 1p winners or a selection of others as well - it's the sort of thing that would provide a ratings boost when the show is starting to need it.

Would it, though? It might be fun for avid followers of the show to see unlucky contestants return and have another chance at the game, but for average viewers, they probably wouldn't be that fussed. There have been several really great characters who have won the penny (such as Dirk and Colin) but the average viewer probably wouldn't remember the rest of them.

Then there's also the problem of who gets to have a second go, and how they'd define "unlucky". If they only had the 1p winners return, it wouldn't really be fair. For example, why should 1p Adam get another go when he no dealt £20,000; whilst Nikki Tucker - who won £100 due to having an appallingly unlucky game - wouldn't get another go?

They only need one more 1p winner and they can play DOND on the barge (22 players,a Noel and a Banker - I've done the maths :-D )

Michelle was unlucky, any player who finds 3 of the P5 in a single round is by definition unlucky but there was no respite really. The Banker's offers was exceptionally cruel today and it's hard to see what his motivation was in that regard. Don't think Michelle did anything to deserve that.

Aww that was sooo sooooo sad, poor Michelle. I so felt for her, really unlucky, she looked really disappointed but held it together really well. Bad luck Michelle. :(

Exactly. As I said when Rod won the 1p to become the 22nd winner, I don't think they should get the chance [What about Lee/Daimon etc]. I don't think I'd watch it if there was a 1p winners special.

Back to this game. I had an unpleasant feeling from 8-box that she would win the 1p. When she swapped, I didn't want it to be the penny, but just had the feeling that it would be. She didn't deserve it, she was a lovely lady.

Credit to Michelle for keeping her chin up while everything was falling apart, as it prevented the game from becoming thoroughly unenjoyable. Meanwhile, the last two weeks have been nothing but downers - even the banker spankings have been pretty low wins because the big numbers jump out early and in groups.

I almost want to see some Deal at the first offer, just to give everyone a jolt and give the Banker a nice t('.'t) in the wake of all these games he keeps winning.

You're not alone there Tom - when that £100,000 went I could smell a 1p win too...not even down to the editing either!

Just an unavoidable trainwreck...with a 1p win stamped on her misfortune because of her faith in a particular number...nasty stuff!

Today has to be better, surely!

We can only hope today's will be better, but I can see a very cautious Deal coming a mile off
