Noel asks Rod's wife what she thinks, and she says that is good money in his pocket and that he didn't want to go home with a blue. Rod says that he promised his sons that he wouldn't go home with a blue.

Stevie with box 10 has the £100

This must be hugely disappointing says Noel, but Rod remains positive...

Anyway, I was in the audience for that one. It was my second live 1p win.

I meant Zoe would've dealt at £18,000 and Rod would've been our first male QM Winner!

One-post time.

Kestral's got it all backwards compared to H, going with name/date for the thread title not date/name. Noel is right to say the game was too much for Zoe, it was far too strong for her and the Banker lucked out in it being her, and not Danny or Jerry, getting that board.

The scene is set for today's game nice and early - notionally-aggressive entrepreneurial male contestant with cautious wife in audience. Wonder which side Noel will encourage us to take, eh. It's Rod's game until eight-box, apparently; after that, it's the Banker's, as he decides whether reaching the Acceptable Deal Point is reason enough to make dealable offers.

Mildly disappointing opening round, and the offer is in the vicinity of the FD, as is fairly well the convention again these days. It's given more praise than it warrants, although in fairness it's a good opener, but we move on.

High blue, orange, mid-red - I see bipolar tendencies in this board. A stick is a mere speedbump, allowing the 'system' to be discussed more than the gameplay. Aha! The Rock goes, and not even Noel can deny the danger of this board now. Still, two blues preceded it, and a rational Banker would be thinking of getting this game over and done with. We don't get one, £12,000 is a transitional offer to set up the proper effort to buy the box at the ADP. Oh it's bumped up for reasons unknown, but it's still not enough with four hundred grand on the board even in this configuration. High teens, I'm gone here; low teens, no I'm not.

Oh he's doing the Wakeyist signals. Top two and peanuts... aha! Family choosing the numbers for round 5! Eighteen grand is about the right offer here, it's what we can expect for losing the lower of the big two alone in this round. And that, folks, is what the show does to people - people who are far from gamblers using irrational arguments to vindicate gambling because the show pushes it often enough. Needless to say, that means Rod goes on too.

Boom. Karma. Eight grand is a good bailout here, and barring a Banker guarantee I'm taking it despite my penchant for chasing £100,000. His wife has learned her lesson; Rod hasn't. He promises his sons that he wouldn't win a blue, so he turns down eight grand with a 30% chance of an all-blue finish. Which he promptly hits. Oh and just for good measure he winds up with the 1p, which really is twisting the knife.

For the second Tuesday in a row, we have a self-inflicted trainwreck with the most utterly spurious justification for the decisions that produced them. This one, though, really could be described as the anti-Donna game.

It's ironic that yesterday's 8 box saw a similar offer for a much better board but both today's and yesterday's player didn't seem to read the board.

Better advice at 8 box would be "you've got 18K, you have a 64% chance of seeing that offer reduced substantially should you choose to go on."

8K was a reasonable get out at 5 box.

Winning 1p was avoidable unlike other 1p winners whose boards never really got going, Sally for example.
