Yesterday's £40k offer on a weaker board was a definite deal. Today's £35k offer definitely wasn't and was probably worth the risk given there was 90% chance of the offer being at least £15k and 70% chance of it being greater than £26k.

7 player wins in a row now.....

Yes.

Fantastic show today.

Karen was a great wacky off-the-wall character who was unpredicatable and none of her no-deals were entirely unexpected, and I thought she might deal the £35k at 5-box even though it should have been about £50k, I'd have been worried about it (but she shouldn't have been as only people called Tony seem to win blues from that sort of situation :) ). Good too that the banker played fair having recognised her courage at 2-box - I was sort of expecting a force-on offer in the teens like with Lauren from a similar situation. 7 straight player wins on the belt is quite something.

Lamin seems to have a knack of having big money after deals doesn't he? He's the opposite of many terminators who only have blues after deals! :)

I think it's right that Stephen was the last one to bring a power 5 box at the table, meaning none of the current wings will have seen one! There's only been Joe and Thel who had £20k as well, and I don't even think anyone's had £15k - apart from those two it's all been blues and low reds. I know Jan 08 similarly had none but this month feels so much better in terms of the gameplay, there have been a lot more deals after decent risks taken which should keep the Wakeyists happy (well much happier than this time last year). Contrast to this day last year when Steve dealt for £7,700 with £250k and £50k there at 8-box and was totally lambasted for it, even though it turned out to be the right thing! :D

The difference recently is that the banker has been giving offers that don't force the players to deal for a low amount for the board or feel like they have to take a gamble a decent amount.

I thought that the £35,000 was a poor offer considering the strong board. The average at 5-box was exactly £80,255 and there was an extremely high chance of keeping at least one of the big numbers and a 40% chance of keeping two of the big numbers. I was expecting an offer of around £60,000 which is what it should have been. If I was the banker that is what I would have offered. Anyway hope that she gets her camper van and pictures her imagined friend in the camper van. Well done to her.
I know that we haven't had big numbers on the table for a very long time but last year in about June time there was about three games where the big money stayed around for most of the game and one guy (Karl) squandered the chance to win the £250,000. I remember another one was Coleen but can't remember the other person.
At the moment I thinking well there have been times when the big money has constantly come to the table. Think about February 2008 when the £250,000 came to the table 3 games out of 4 and also during last summer either beginning of July or end of June the £250,000 came to the table twice in a row. In effect what I explained above is balancing out not having any big numbers coming to the table for a very long time.

What a great game. Karen was a memorable charector, with an (often unintentionally) amusing turn of phrase. she was very lucky with her board but she also held her nerve longer than some people might have done.
A little Unlucky in that last round maybe but it could have been a lot worse.

Most importantly she sold a £10 box for a 5 figure sum and that has to be a good result in anyone's book

I still think Karen is a dead ringer for Sharon Osbourne. But I did enjoy this game and I am glad she did well.

I thought she looked more like the actress who used to play Kat in Eastenders. Can't remember her name. I enjoyed Karen's game today, the whole lamp post thing was a bit weird, but she made some brave no deals, which is always good to see.

I've been away for a bit and only just got up to date with recent shows, but we've sure had some cracking games lately and a great cluster of OPWs!. Today's was another intriguing game. Yet again, the mega money stayed to the end of the game and there were some tricky decisions to be faced.

£35k was a no-deal for me, although usually it wouldn't be, the strength of the board with 3 of the power 5 at such a late stage in the game would've pushed me on, with the majority of the 2-box scenarios resulting in at least 50k. However, I would've been forced to cut my losses at £26k much like Karen, as I don't think I could live with crashing to £10 in such a dramatic rapid fashion as that. Plus, in normal circumstances, it is bordering on a reckless gamble with that volatility.

Good average over the last week-and-a-bit of games, let's hope it continues!

The £35,000 demanded a snap decision - either get out, or make it clear there's no way in hell you're leaving on that board, result being you get a two-box bailout if it comes to it.

It came to a two-box bailout and she got one. While it was nine grand lower, it was infinitely more generous. Good play to chase the dream with stingy offers, but then take a good bailout.

I thought Steve's and Karen's games were rather similar actually. Both were rather unusual characters, both had strong boards late in the game and both had large offers as a result. Although Karen's were a bit on the low side actually - I was thinking he'd go for nearer £26k at 8-box and £45k at 5-box.

Another really enjoyable game. Karen was mad, but was awesome and played a really good game. We now have 7 player wins in a row, that hasn't happened for a while (if ever..).

The £35,000 no deal was an acceptable one, it wasn't the greatest offer for the board and I personally would have carried on as well. It was good to see the Banker show a bit of respect at 2-box with a nice chunky offer (only £9,000 less than the previous) and fair play to her for dealing then.

Hopefully the run of good games can continue.
