a 2/3 chance was a no brainer. a bit similar to last year though with the twists not quite working and this was a mediocre/poor luck game. I hope we have a strong game where the egg twist creates a dilemma.

Last year's Easter specials had two OK games (Mark/Jo Jo) and two amazing games (Gemma/Matty)...I'd say this game would be somewhere in the middle. I'd have played the game exactly the same as Tony (including picking eggs 1 and 3 at the end!), so I'm glad he came out of it well, and won £5k. Bravo!

It was a good game especially with the little twist at the end.

These eggs sound like the most complicated twist ever  and probably the most exploitative too.

Complicated is defintely the wrong word to use - exploitative is probably the best word to use!

The Banker can pretty much make a player go on, or make a player take it depending totally on the twist...like today's 5-box offer of £5,000; with no strings attached it'd have been a fairly easy Deal for me, but with the added twist that if he didn't find the Good Egg, then it'd turn into 1p, that's the "forcing-on" part...whereas that last gamble was all-but "have to take" territory!

I have to admit though, seeing as they've already had someone go home bark, it's obviously given them the freedom to introduce this new dimension to the twists where they literally have to bet all or nothing...thankfully it paid off today and we didn't have a second player go home bark! :)

Seems like the idea of the eggs as used today was to encourage a No Deal by attaching a disaster prospect to a Deal as well as to a No Deal. The five-box offer was at least interesting though - instead of offering just under two-thirds of the mean, offer a 2/3 chance of just under the mean!

The twist was trying too hard for a feel-good ending though; I'd have taken it on even with just one shot at the £5k (although I wouldn't risk much more than £1k under those conditions, whereas I'd risk at least £2,500 under Tony's conditions).

yeah was a bit generous as the expected value was 3.3K, I actually got confused at first and thought he only had one shot or that there were two good eggs he had to pick which I would have gone for too.

I'm a great fan of the egg twist, with its potential to be used in many different ways! Today saw some curious offers, with a £7 deal that had the chance to be turned in £7,000 and a £5k offer of the mean that had the chance of turning into 1p!

It's certainly exploitative and much to the benefit of the banker, also perhaps more importantly it is a great entertainment tool for livening up a weak game as well as strong ones, as we saw today. Clearly 2/3 chance of £5k was a no-brainer to most people.

I suppose there is the potential that the IA could take away one of the "BAD" eggs, thereby creating a 50% chance of a "GOOD" egg with 1 pick - how many people would've taken the gamble then...?

Looking forwards to the other specials! :D

I would say that these easter specials are very different from the other specials mainly because you don't have a 50/50 chance of it going right or wrong instead it can be either 1 in 3 or 2 in 3 chance of it going right or wrong. Plus the eggs can be played around with, last year's specials proved just that. For example the banker can double the current offer, offer the player an offer after every box or offer the mean but if he/she is unlucky then they will go away with 1p or maybe nothing.

Seems like the banker was testing the water with the egg gambles today given there was relative small amounts involved.

I think the Banker was quite clever there, using the eggs to spice up what was turning into a train wreck of a game. They certainly added an interesting dimension, all the times he used them though the last 'Bankers Easter Gamble' offer was a bit of a no-brainer. He might just as well have given Tony the £5000. (Not that i'm complaining, it was a nice way of lifting a downbeat conclusion)

It will be interesting to see what he does tomorrow, I suppose it will depend on how strong the board is.

Argh!! I took a huff when he got the £750 and turned the tape off. I missed all of this! that will (maybe) learn me....I doubt it.

also, that £7 offer with the one egg opening at the end, was perhaps one of the WORST offers ever...wouldnt have considered it for a second, no way!

I am glad now there was a good outcome to a bit of a disappointing game! i may watch on after the final box opening in future now

Had to go out before the end of this unfortunately, but having caught up I do have mixed fellings about it.

On the plus side, I'm pleased for Tony that he managed to take some something decent and managed to avoid emulating some of his namesakes in having a unmitigated disaster, and also the eggs from 8-box onwards livened up what would have been a pretty dull game oterwise.

On the downside, I don't like the twist at the end - I think once all the boxes are opened and the winnings revealed if you've played to the end then that should be it. By all means use the eggs to influence the offers but giving him the chance to gamble for £5,000 or nothing at the end was an obvious no-brainer (I think I'd have risked anything up to btween £1,500 and £2,000 or so), but this was way too contrived like the extra handout in 2nd Anniversary Helen's game for example.

And also I think it promotes Wakeyism too (yes, I know some people love that!), becuase some of the deals where you pick the good egg and you go home with the mean of the remaining boxes, but don't pick the good egg and it's pocket change are just as risky as continuing with the game, if not more so - but there's a lot less you can gain.

That said I am looking forward to the next few games, especially if we get some good boards to play on! :)

It was the timing which had me keep it on, it was still only 4.53 when his box was opened so could tell there was going to be a gamble of some sort

Just watched it on Catchup. I was expecting the banker to throw in
an offer with the eggs at 2 box. Very simply he could have said find the good egg in 2 selected eggs
to win £5,000 otherwise win £750.

It did make it more interesting the all or nothing finish though, an exceptionally generous offer
which would have even the most cautious player dealing.

Well done Tony on winning £5,000 :D

There was still a chance he could have picked both bad eggs and become the second player to go away with nothing.
