And this is entirely what the hypo-swap is likely to have been for in the first place - it means the guilt trip can work regardless of what's in the box.

Although as Davey says, it's not happened lately, and there's been more than enough counter-examples (notably Melissa who implied enough she was only there for the box that a guilt trip wouldn't have looked as televisually wrong as it often is) for me to be content in Davey's assertion that the hypo-swap is being properly used now.

I mentioned before how Lisa was the last person I met as part of my DOND experience. Literally, as I was leaving the show to get my taxi, those guys had just arrived. I was in the Green room with Lisa, telling her about what she should expect and she had the same clueless/excited/apprehensive look that all the newbies (including me) had. We were even trying to work out the maths as to whether anyone from her group would make it on the 1000th show. It seemed like an outside shot, but I think she went on the show sixth out of the six newbies in her group and did an impressive run of shows and as it happens, she was the one!

It seems really weird to me though when I went back for the 997th show and could see that she had turned into a key member of the group. I'm not going to pretend that I know loads about her or that we are great friends, but during the brief hour that I was chatting to her and the few moments when I went back, you can see that she is a really great person and truly deserved of being part of the landmark show. Andreas waxes lyrical about her! He thinks shes great!

Well done Lisa. I wish our dond experiences would have crossed over a little more.

well done lisa what a brilliant game!!!!! if you are reading this you probably have mixed feelings at the moment, i was the contestant on the 3rd birthday show i too walked away with 50k ,its really funny when you read peoples views of your game for every positive comment you get a negative ,but everyone is entitled to their views i thought you played a cracking game its easy to pass comments of what should,or could have happened once you are sat in that crazy chair any plans you have go out the window.on a positive note 50k is a great ammount of money if its looked after, i have 2 kids and i have invested mine for their future,where else do you get 50k tax free for a couple of weeks "holiday" enjoy the money lisa good luck,health,and happiness andy gill

I agree with the sentiments on the hypo swap thing.

I guess since Noel made it official that a swap is guaranteed on a £250,000 finish regardless, it has always clouded the end of games somewhat. I guess the only absolutely satisfactory ending is a deal at 2-box (as if a deal is any earlier, the 2-box offer is undoubtedly much higher if the biggie remains undiscovered), the player saying they avidly wouldn't swap (since Noel always asks no matter what), then the lower amount being in the box.

But I guess there's a lot of hypo-swapping in the first place becuase why would you leave a box on the wings unopened? The prime reason above any is becuase you think it contains a big amount. (Unless you're Charly, who incidentally I was thrilled to see in the audience, and want to eliminate the box you might swap for to make a possible swap decision easier, or you're VENTRESS and want to prove yourself wrong ) So it's a catch 22 as you have to play on with honesty in proveout.

The hypo is just that, hypothetical, and no player should ever let it get in the way of a good game, or otherwise. I wish it was done away with like the stupid blue chanting. Ugh. Also, has anyone else noticed that they have largely done away with the banker calling to say what the next offer will be at certain stages of the game. I really bloody hated that, for a while it really spoiled the show. I think it was done recently but i hope to hell its gone for good

The banker giving guarantees of offers is useful when still in active play as it gives the player more information about whether the gamble he is about to take will be worth the result he will get. It's probably less useful in the proveout but as the banker says he has to be honest during the proveout (which doesn't always happen as we sometimes get hugely inflated offers), it does make logical sense.

I think there is a case for the hypo swap in games like Lisa's that go up to the wire with the top prize still in play because you know that if she'd said No Deal to that offer then that would have been the next question,(therefore it becomes part of the 'proveout') however i do agree that in most cases it is superfluous, certainly if someone deals earlier or the £250k isn't on the board then it's quite pointless

It's been used too often lately and should be reserved for games like this one

But since it is entertainment in essence, it spoils a very big aspect of the show!

I was away so it was bad timing for me to miss it

From my point of view:

It was looking very strong until the Gold Biggie went, but Lisa held on to the top 2 big ones until after 5-box, those were some very good offers and they were all within what I would offer which made the 1,000th show great

She was brave to go to 2-box and IMO, £50,000 was a tad too low, if it had been £60,000 - £70,000, then I would've considered it very carefully since the drop would be a total travesty

Also, like many have said, Box 1 with 1p and 22 with £250,000? Very suspicious if you ask me...

But, I really don't blame Lisa for taking £50,000 when she clearly had £100 in her original box, the only thing she could've done right was to say No Hypo Swap, so she technically beat the Banker by £49,900, and not lost to the banker by £200,000

But I'm sure it was a great show for those who watched it and saw it at the time of recording, well done on 1,000 shows, bring on the next 1,000!

There is nothing suspicious about box 1 having 1p, and box 22 having the £250,000 (even if I correctly predicted the latter before the show), it has happened before, and I have no doubt it'll happen again.
