seriously? do you actually believe that?

I wouldn't worry Dan; Mark tends to say this sort of thing every single game - few people subscribe to his opinion

I've just finished watching this via the Channel 4 website as I am at work when the programme is on. Wow. What a classic game you gave us, Lisa. I knew you would. That's why you were picked from the others to be the milestone contestant.

I just knew that Box 22 would contain one of the £250,000 because of its history and if I had no dealt the £50,000, in that instance, I would have swapped too. I don't normally go for the swap but in that scenario, I would.

Unlike Alice's game though, I was just begging you, Lisa, to take the £50,000 as I didn't want a nightmare game on such an important occasion.

Very well done Lisa, you did, indeed create the classic episode that was fitting for the 1000th edition of the show. I'm so happy for you and hope you don't regret too much for not going all the way.

Congratulations Lisa!. You were truly a memorable player.

If the 2 boxes were £250k then the 2 extra sums of money available could be £200k or £300k - that would be interesting. It'd be an effective offer of £250,000 on a £200,000 vs £300,000 final 2. Who would deal / no deal that?

I'd no deal - even though you could drop £50,000, you're already guaranteed a life-changing £200,000.

If you dealt, you'd become the joint 1st highest winner; if you no dealt and "only" got £200,000, you still become the 3rd highest winner of all time (behind Laura and Alice)... but if you no dealt and got the £300,000, you'd become the sole 1st highest winner - and the only chance anyone would have to equal or beat you would be in a special show where that much money or more was on offer! :D

Unfortunately, I don't think I'd have ever got to the 2-box stage. :(

I wonder what would happen if there was a final pair of two boxes the same, as was possible in some of the recent shows? Would seem rather a waste of time having a final offer and potentially offering the swap! Perhaps they would introduce an additional twist depending on whether they got the red one or gold one?

I assume if the contestant picks his/her third box to leave two amounts that are the same, then they are awarded that amount and a 6th phone call isn't need. When the zany US did Million Dollar Mission they automatically gave away the top prize when 2 X $1 Million were left.

Well, that seemed to live up to all the hype, what a brilliant way to celebrate the 1000th show! That last round was terrifying and I was convinced that she was going to reveal £250k in box 2, but fortunately she didn't!

After Alice's game not being spoiled, I believed anything was possible today (although in hindsight she wouldn't have been able to have the dream finish as she had £100!). She was remarkably close to winning the top amount though, you could see she really wanted to go for it at the end, but I don't blame her for taking £50k - that is a substantial amount of money that most people couldn't risk losing at that stage with so little backup. The banker had learnt his lesson from Laura!

By the way, anyone who wants to try the fiendishly difficult 1000th show quiz is welcome to have a go! I will admit I don't know all the answers myself yet!

Very good, and an OPW. Box whatever it was was on the table and NOT number 22, therefore £50,000 WAS the highest amount she really could've won. Well, regardless of whether she'd have swapped, £100 was brought to the table and £50,000 was the peak offer which she took. Quite simple, in essence...

Didn't watch it myself but congrats to Glenn Hugill on making well over 6,000 phone calls (including swap offers), however today those phonecalls resulted in frankly abysmal offers. No more than 45.44% of the mean offered at any one point, which is a blatant example of the perfect daylight robbery. Not wishing to sound greedy here, but I would have asked for at least 70% at 5-box, and at least 80% at 2-box. £50k with £250k and a blue....that's horrendous.

So, good game. Welldone Lisa on an astonishing (but at least £50,000 too low) £50,000.

Hi there,

Just recently joined the board and thought I would make a little contribution towards today game...

I understand that people were generally pleased about today's game, and with good reason, well done Lisa on winning £50,000.

However, there are a few gribes I have (and please call me pickey if you wish). Firstly, the 1p, box no.1 and the first box......... hmmmmmmm, scripted? After all the hype about "could today provide the "perfect" game/finish, I was a bit let down. I really expected Lisa to walk away with a large sum, £100,000+ , like possibly a £100,000 and £250,000 box finish, her to walk away with the £250k, or even both £250k boxes still in play.

It is a shame that the 1000 show came to this, I had been looking forward to it for quite a while.

All well, could have been a lot worse I guess...

That was great!

We had past contestant banter with Orry and Clive - we had great offers, and we even had a strong board!

That £30,000 was an awful offer, so thank god she didn't keep box 2, especially after the stat about it having the £250,000 the most often too!

Still, bad luck that had she played her game to the end the way she wanted to, she'd have won the jackpot...but it's still a great win!

I saw Lynne in the audience too, as well as loads of others; Tommii and Jade I saw as well as many more!

Oh, and why only £16,000 opening offer? How comes we used to see offers of nearer £20,000?

WELL DONE L I S A!!

That was a super game.

b0x 1 =1p
box 22=£250.000

Not only that but box 2=10p and box 15=£15k.

What a great game for game 1000. The last 2 offers were certainly on the stingy side. I was wondering at 2 box whether the producers were in a "lets try and get a 3rd QM winner" mood or a "lets give a decent offer". In the end, they managed neither but £50k with a blue backup would probably have needed a very gambling-minded player - it would certainly have been a riskier gamble that the one Alice took.

What a week of contrast so far: A £35k OBW, the 20th member of the 1p club and then a £50k OPW.

I may not have seen all 1,000 shows - I didn't start watching daily until the advent of the More 4 repeats and 4OD but DOND is a unique quiz show. Countdown and Fifteen to One may have been long running but I doubt people even regular viewers of those shows could remember specific episodes and occurances as much as some of us can for DOND.

I don't really understand what you're complaining about - you seem to contradict yourself. But, whatever, be assured that the game is not fixed. No one knows what numbers are in the boxes or what numbers the contestant will choose. Having said that, coincidences happen. It would be suspicious if they didn't. Part of the fun is that 1000 games is no where near enough for the statistics to settle down so the best we have, really, is odds and they notoriously don't behave themselves on a game by game basis.

Anyway, you have got this far so welcome to the forums and keep posting.

Pierre

I really can't believe all the negative reaction towards this game.

The bare facts are a lovely girl who has been quite entertaining and been a great neightbour to our own h2005, took a blue to the table and walked out with £50,000 which is easily in the top 10% of wins. And with 3 boxes left, if she'd turned right instead of left she'd have had a spectacular crash to a blue instead of a life-changing amount.

I had read spoilers about this game which were completely wrong, one being the highest-ever deal (which i guess was possible on £250k/£15k) and the dream finish in active play which was also a possibility at 5-box but once she was left with £250k and 2 blues I had no idea what would happen - it was a 1p Trevor sort of situation except with 10p there instead! That Will is becoming a right terminator!!

I'm stil not totally convinced she'd swap, certainly after Alice refused to swap. Plus £50,000 with a blue there is a lot different to Laura's £45,000 with £3,000 as a consolation.

And great to see loads of legendary contestants, though I wish they'd talked to someone else rather than Orry. They could have talked to Walter if they were desperate to feature a £1 winner :)

The last 4 games have alternated blue/power 5, oddly enough!

There did seem to be more contestants in the audience today, including Lynn and Shell from the first line up of 22 contestants, along with a whole host of contestants.

Instead of one of the top 100 wins it would have been the second biggest No Deal to win less than £1,000!! (And, I would argue, by far the biggest crash to a blue ever to come without a bad No Deal!! And I thought yesterday was bad enough!!)

The other thing I just realised is I think that's the highest amount won by someone winning the same as the person they replaced - Lisa had replaced Doreen remember. Seems a bit unjust Lisa got offered £50,000 on £250,000 and one blue when Doreen was offered it with four blues there.........

Did he have a Neil Diamond song for the occasion! "Play Me", perhaps?

It's great that the person I stood next to for most of my shows got to play the BIG 1,000th show! I really enjoyed the show and thought it was very well done, with some nice touches such as the different music at certain points etc. Everyone looked great and the set was nicely decorated too, with the gold phone and the gold chair.

The game itself looked like it was going to start falling apart at one point, but Lisa was so brave to no deal both £25k and £30k, bearing in mind what the banker had heard about her saying she'd find it difficult to turn down £25k.

I'm so pleased she had a really good game and I don't think it really matters that she could've won £250k by no dealing and swapping etc. There was a 50/50 chance of winning just £100 at that point and that would have been awful on the 1,000th show. Just think; if she'd picked 22 instead of 2 then it'd have ended in disaster! :? As has been mentioned, it's also rather strange to think both Lisa and the person she replaced (Doreen) won £50,000 by dealing!

Once again - well done Lisa!!! And here's to another 1,000 episodes of DOND...

Only 2 pints, David - how sensible you can be.

BTW I asked you a question about Lisa back on page 5 but it's got a bit buried, now.
