And at this point I'm annoyed because if the banker had offered me a fair offer I'd have taken it. I'm now most likely forced to open my box, unless he decides to be nice again.

£3,000 isn't actually a bad offer. But due to the relatively low amount of money involved I'm gambling this hoping to get a £10kish offer by dodging the £35,000.

No point in not chasing the money now, and at this point I'm regretting the 11-box No Deal.

And I would have taken that game very badly indeed and scarcely forgiven myself for playing on at the third offer, and possibly-excessively berating myself for not defying the pressure to play to eight-box. That's the sort of game I most dread having if I were ever to play.

Round 6

The Banker calls before the start of the round and says that he is really impressed with Dirk and how honest and open he is, and if Dirk can get through the round without hitting the £35,000 he will guarantee an offer over £10,000.

5 - £50 Jean

6 - £500 Joe

14 - £35,000 :( Tony

Banker time with 1p and £1 remaining

Dirk wonders if he will be the next member of the 1p club! The Banker would have offered £11,000 if he kept the £35,000 in play

Banker's offer:

11p

I'd get Noel to instantly ask the question... dwell for about 30 seconds, jump up, bang my fist on the table and shout "DEAL!"

I probably wouldn't have even been in any mood to Deal or swap there...

To be fair though, in purely gameplay terms that round wasn't so bad. It's just a shame the banker decided to throw in a joke offer. Against some contestents (and myself and you would probably fall under this category) he wouldn't make such a joke offer and we'd have been offered the £15,000-£20,000 we wanted,

A agree that 17.5K would have gone down better but they clearly wanted the game to go to 2 box and maybe even wanted a blue win.

I'd have taken £15,000 on that board, maybe a little less.

Did they want another Wakeyist game? Or were they merely placing inordinate emphasis on the 'gold' amount at eight-box? Both, I suspect.
