I think it definitely added to the storyline of DOND. It means the banker can really play up the whole "I don't like Welsh ladies" thing. I think it wouldn't have hurt her chances to be honest, it makes a good story and thats what the show's all about I guess. the show lives by the way it plays up the history of previous shows and contestants, so it may have been another point that the producers would have thought about, but I think the real reason why they were so generous to her was more for the fact that it makes a really good story.

"Student wins £250k!" makes a better story than "middle-aged generic person wins £250k". I think the fact that she is polite, unassuming and young was what made the producers give her the great opportunity to win the big one. They would only give that opportunity to someone who they would be happy representing the show. But the Welsh (monmouth) thing could only help in my eyes.

Just wondering about the whole confidentiality thing. Obviously, the crew and contestants would be covered by contracts not to reveal the result but assuming Noel will be going on about today's game for a while, surely there would be quite a few pilgrims who would have known about it.

I was thinking that if a player got close to the end with the £250k still on the board, Noel could still use the "1st male quarter-millionaire" line and say "next quarter-millionaire" if it were a lady (although that itself might arouse suspicion from being changed from 2nd quarter-millionaire).

I'm sure that right now, H2005 is ripping his up, since the 250k has been aired.

There might be more games to keep quiet about coming up (not that I know of the existance of them).

:D

Don't forget everything about David's own game is sealed in an air-tight bag! :P

Billy, I swear you HAVE to watch the YouTube clips! I know it's not the same but if you ask Mike very nicely, I'm sure he'll put the whole game up!

Oh heck I didn't want to see that again, I don't like spoilers :smt009 I said I don't like spoilers :smt009

Anyway I have just looked on the official forum to see the thread for Alice, there are 5 posts at present, posts not pages :D

And here we are on the best forum already at 15 PAGES

As much as they would like us all on there, "you can lead a horse to water but you cannot make it drink"

The viewing figures must be up due to David (h2005) being on the show and now they must be even higher with Alice's big win

With all due respect to David, I very much doubt his presence on the show is having any effect on viewing figures!

I genuinely didn't realise the post I linked to spoiled anything at all! Sorry if you think it did.

So, if my calculations are right, I think this was the first show recorded on Dec 4th (also a Thursday) in the morning so probably around 10am? I expect they had an extended lunch to celebrate after that game, and resumed between 2-2.30. It must've taken a fair while to clear the studio, not to mention reloading the confetti cannons!

I wonder whether any other contestants will be copying Alice's idea of a 'curse round', getting rid of boxes 13, 22 and newbie box all in one go?

Ha, I've just thought from that, that they could easily have given Kath the BG, even though I've forgotten which blue she had left with it, it certainly wasn't the penny though.

I'm actually quite pleased they didn't given how Kath was.....

Oh and Billy, whenever ilovedealornodeal is updated that should do for you, becuase I think everything you really need to see (apart from David's box openeing :) ) takes place after the second ad break!

The intro and first couple of rounds absolutely few by!

But I would for definite in the 2nd round

Well that's what Wayne's system was today: his first three boxes were 13, 22 and the newbie's box...

...out of all the episodes to bloody miss!!!!!

I had absolutely no idea until I got back last night, went on Facebook and saw David's video saying "MY BOX OPENING IN ALICE'S HISTORIC £250,000 WIN". I thought it was some weird ironic joke at first, but then when I went on here and saw a 14 page thread I realised it must have happened.

Well...damn, oh well. Congratulations Alice anyway and I'm sure it was a great game!

Billy-you certainly took missing the show better than i did missing the last 10mins! Channel 4 emailed back with an unsurprising 'poop happens' attitude. Cant really expect anything else. Some tickets to a recording would be nice! But i'm dreaming there, aren't i! Gah:-(
