We were all gutted for Alex he really was a brilliant guy and it was a great game to watch. Even although I knew the result it was hard to watch the end, I think if the banker had offered a bit more he would have dealt :( xx

Yeah, I was expecting something around 25k at 5 box :(

The way it would've gone though, with the 50p in his box, if he'd left anything bar the 250k he'd probably have got a forcing offer at 2-box and a much less clear-cut swap straight after. So who knows really...

We were all so devastated for Alex - he is such a great guy & we all really wanted him to do well. Gutted. And i felt exactly the same when i was watching tonight.

He is a superstar though & provided a great show - it is just such a shame that the result wasn't what we wanted.

I still think that his Mum will be so very proud of him - and Alex, you DID get your moment to shine darling.

Lots of love XXXX

I'm sorry but to me that is not appropriate. That or the Banana Sandwich.

I want to start with the positives. Alex was brilliant. He's been my favourite for a while and he didn't disappoint in the game. Some great entertainment at the start and he seems such a genuine, nice guy.

The result however, well it actually nearly left me in tears. I'm not making that up honest. There are some games which don't move me but this one really did. This has to be the first game where I've ended up speechless. Say whatever you want to that but I don't care.

I see him being very successful in the future and all the luck to him.

The first two parts of that was amongst the best comedy I'd seen on DOND since Clive's game, it was absolute classic, and Alex was a legend.

The last part was one of the worst. And Alex was wise to the banker's tactics of thinking he was a 20k targetist, and the banker's error/gamble was so jammy. Gutted. :(

Just for a while there it looked like we were going to get a fantastic start to the new year.

Alex played that first round brilliantly and given his established relationship with the Banker it was doubly exciting that he should get the Banker's perfect start, in fact right up to the first ad break it really looked like he could do no wrong.

Sadly it began to go downhill from there, but considering the damage he did i think the next few offers were reasonable, he could have been punished a lot more for hitting those reds. It was only really with the 5 box offer that the Banker really misjudged it, I think he could have gone a fraction higher there.

In the end Ales fell victim to some bad luck in that final round but i liked his logic for swapping his box and it worked out for him to an extent so it wasn't a complete disaster.

And one thing the result doesn't change is that that was a very entertaining game, Alex put his heart and soul into it and his rapport with Noel was a joy to watch.

The banker got that offer spot on, I think. Remember it is the banker's job to buy the box for as little as possible. Given the board, £20k was the lowest he could pitch the offer. Had it been higher, then Alex would probably have dealt, and won the game, selling a blue box for over £20k. Because it was "only" £20k, Alex carried on, game fell apart, win for the banker.

Well with the benefit of hindsight he pitched it perfectly yes, but bearing in mind there was a 60% chance Alex had a red in his box at the time i would have expected him to pitch slightly higher - after all he had no way of knowing Alex only had 50p did he? He should have been more worried about Alex going to the end and opening a high red.

A great game which had it all - freaky box openings (top five reds in first five boxes), lots of banter (the accent thing played well), potential, a downturn, tears and drama. Add to that nice eyes and a great upper body :-D and it was a good start to the year!
