That was a tough decision at £18k, but on that board I think it was the common sense decision to deal it.

30% chance of total disaster (losing both reds), and 60% chance of losing the £75k at least and certainly getting a reduced offer. And even a £75k vs. low blue final offer would not have been generous!

With a moderate red as safety net it may have been worth the gamble but I don't think it was worth it here.

Yup, totally agree - very good decision Dave, and very well done on keeping your head at that point :) Good game all round I think :)

Cheers

Michael

Yep, well played Smiler. I thought you were going to say "No Deal" at that point. Glad you didn't however even though my mum would have said "Deal" at £10,000.

Dave was wise to Deal, I think I would have dealt at £10,000 myself coz I'm not that brave.
What I thought was annoying was every contestant saying that they thought a red was in their box. I know Maxine and Tom were right on this occassion but Lofty wasn't. I've seen games where contestants thought they had a red in their box so the player doesn't pick it, then it turns out to be a blue when opened. That can seriously ruin a game.

Jason was right too, though Dave thought that since he had 11 the day before and had 1p, it would be red, but he went ahead with it anyway.

If the guy playing the game really believes that people can tell what's in their boxes, he has to take the consequences. :P Contestants have a 50-50 chance of being right if they say they have a red or blue. On the law of averages some people are bound to be right. It's sheer fluke. It would be interesting if someone (not me :-)) monitored people's predictions about what their boxes contained to see how often they're actually right. I would bet it's around 50% of the time.

Thanks for all your messages guys!!!!!
Can't believe it's all over!!!
Really enjoyed wtaching the show, taking that deal was the hardest decision I've ever had to make!!!!!!
Had hoped to be the 1st 1/4mil winner, not ideal when you whck it out 1st round though!!! :(
But I've taken so many positive things from this whole experience that mean much more than the money I won!!!
Meeting everyone down there & making life long friends, money can't buy that kind of happiness!!!
And to all you loyal DOND fans............
When I applied to be on the show back in November 2005, I would never have imagined getting this kind of support from people I've nerver met, & may never meet!!!
You've all given me the confidence to try and better myself and maybe try some things I'd never have thought possible to do, so I can't thank you all enough!!!
So keep enjoying the show & supporting all the future DONDers!!!
All my thanks & love
Dave/Smiler xxxxx
