Thought he was going to double it or something when he phoned back!

That was nerve wracking!! It was hard luck not winning the £250,000 but a lot of people out there would have been delighted to win £20,000. I really thought he was going to do it.

It just goes to show how much use lucky numbers are.

I dreaded it, because I'm sure a £250k winner will be announced all over the place beforehand.

Exactly, that's maybe the downside of having the internet. That any big win won't be a surprise.

Just a side note - With Max having the 250k, every player in that position since Helen early on have had the biggie at least once. That position really is a 250k magnet.

I'm really upset now but I thought he was unbelievably courageous. £20k is still a good amount, and he played the game. Well done Morris, by far the most courageous player we've had and you really deserved to have the big one for that courage alone. Well played mate! :D

Ode to Morris - one of DoND's true stars

Morris Morris you're a real star

You deserved to win the £250k by far

Alas, alas it wasn't to be

And the Banker is rubbing his hands in glee

Nonetheless you'll go far in life

With £20,000 for yourself and your future wife!

Well played, well played I'm so pleased for you

At the end of the day it wasn't a blue! 8)

Brilliant game- absolutely brilliant, with a real gripping finish! Morris was very, very brave to go all the way. He really deserved the £250,000 for that amazing performance and it's such a shame he didn't have it in his box. Still, he was very entertaining and funny to watch and won a decent sum.

Well done, Morris!

:D

She is in the "black widows" (Aileen/Gabrielle) position, don't know if she has had many big amounts before but others stood there certainly have!

She started off all blue but has been encroaching towards the higher numbers lately. The 250k today was her first, however. But yes, Aileen and Gabrielle, as well as Alison & Tracey have had the biggie at least twice. I've been reliably informed that some of those before Aileen had the 250k as well. Chances are, though, that Max will have a low blue when it's her turn to play!

What a game!!! Gutted for Morris, his courage and conviction should have been enough to see him get the £250,000. Sadly as a few people have said already it'd probably be leaked to the press when someone does get the top prize so I was expecting the worse, still £20,000 is a lot more than many people have left with and it was one hell of a game. Well played Morris!

A £250k announcement wouldn't be limited to just the Internet, though. It'd be all over the tabloids too. Endernol would be gagging for publicity and viewing figures, and if they kept it secret they'd be losing out.

I expect you're right, unfortunately. It was in the back of my mind at the time, but I was still believing!

Great game Morris! I was gutted that you didn't have the £250k, but £20k is still a lot of money, and it was one of the most nail-biting games I've seen. Well done :smt041

amazing show... nearly got an ulcer shouting at the tv for him to take that last offer. (and believe me, there's been contestants in the past i'd have been happy to see lose big *ahem*)... then shouting at him to swap in an unrealistic attempt to change history... lol

he played well though, and he stuck to his guns...

just wish it had paid off for him. (that said, i wouldn't sniff at £20k)

Wow! That was one heck of a game, very tense. Loved all the rhymes even if they were terrible. :-D Welldone Morris for winning £20k for your courage it was a shame you didn't have the quarter of a million in your box. I really wanted you to be the first to win it. But alas it wasn't to be. Enjoy your 20k and thank you for bringing such entertainment to the show. ;)

Morris there is one word for this: WOW!

This was a game no-one would want to miss. 16 is my lucky number too and i would've done exactly the same. when the £500 went, i was crazy! and £101,000 i would've expected something a bit higher. as you did, i would'nt have swapped but i hope £20,000 is a lot of money for you. you are a REAL gambler morris to lose £81,000. this was the BEST game and will NOT be beaten, not even if someone wins the 250k

Excellent game and I felt very sorry for Morris. He was not reckless - in the end he thought about the odds and considered the risk worth taking.

It is purely a matter of luck. The gamble paid off for Gaz and Hilary and it didn't for Morris or Kirsty. It could be third time lucky but it may also be a long time before we see a £250k winner - will anyone else be brave enough to take the risk. :-)

Now, there are enough examples for people to think twice before chickening out with the £250,000 left on the board and possibly other big amounts - ive seen people deal at £8000 with at least 2 of the power 5 left. Then they play on to find that they missed out on SO much money.

I'd have gone at the last offer, but it was 'only' risking £81,000 for a potential payoff of £149,000, so I'm not surprised he went for it.

The absence of any spoilers made it obvious what would happen though.

Will it be in the tabloids? Wouldn't want to call it either way. The nearest obvious precedent was the first £1m win on Millionaire, which was leaked and was the top story in the Sun that day I think.

One thing we can say for sure though - that was one hell of a game. Worthy of the 65-minute slot...

I knew in advance who it was, and although I liked him as a character in the wings I know there would be some that didn't and wasn't sure how he would come across as the playing contestant - when I saw the timeslot I wondered if it was just going to be one of those really over-the-top shows which would make slightly painful viewing, like Jim who played on a Saturday night a couple of months back.

As it happened it was one where the game would have carried it for 65 minutes whoever the player was. But I wondered how they got the third break in (which didn't appear to have been edited in later) - did they plan to give Morris the longer time slot all along before knowing how the game would go?

PS Just heard them discussing it on Poker Night Live - fantastic
