Horrible horrible horrible. Ugh. I think that's the first game I've seen where the player's looked so genuinely upset and not put a brave face on it. I think I'd probably have turned down the £20,000, and definitely turned down the next two offers, so I'd have been in an even worse position. Glad the banker made a generous offer right at the end, and glad she took it.

What is it with the bad episodes coming in pairs??? Although I suppose £500 and £1,500 is better than 1p and £1.

This game could so easily have gone the other way ! She was a very plucky girl and played a good game. well done to her and at least she got a three figure amount !

Well done Clare !! You were lovely to watch and the ending broke my heart but you handled it with class and honesty.

I have to say that I agree with what the banker said about Claire being one of the bravest contestants ever.

Did anyone else want to give Claire a big hug right at the end when she cried?

Desperately bad luck at the end there with the 100k and 250k going, but hey 1,500 pounds is a good amount to be going away with.

Well done, Claire

Sad for Clare - that girl deserved more.

She's been a great, memorable contestant.

Hi Clare and Clare's cousin! Please don't cry your leg off - I know it might not be much consolation but you were great and made a really great show!

Really was a horrible game, bad luck does seem to come in pairs.

This one really could have swung either way and full marks for Clare's bravery.

At that point in the game, £20,000 would have been too bad to deal on I believe, even though most red amounts had gone.

Consolation being Clare only had £250 in her box compared to Richard with £3,000.

£1,500 - it can mean a lot to some people.

Well done Clare and commisarations on not winning a higher amount, :(

The £20,000 was a good offer, given the high chances of taking out one of the top 2, and the lack of anything to fall back on, but there you go. It's not often I think such things, but I really wanted Richard to shut up with his "I feel like it's your lucky day" droning.

Anyone thinks the show desperately needs a new Aaron to calculate the odds??

poor Claire, I had the tears welling up too!!

She seemed like such a nice girl, and one of the most genuine people I've ever seen on that programme. Fair play to her she should go home proud, not upset. :smt038

A question of 'Greed or No Greed' today IMO. I would have dealt at 17k.

No, I don't think that's true. She was there to genuinely play the game.

Another unfortunate ending, but at least she won three times what James did and 150,000 times what the members of the 1p club did - again, it's meaningful money at least.

I guess the main thing that made it so hard for her is that she was in such a strong position - getting £1,500 in a game that never got off the ground would be much easier to take.

Don't blame her for playing on though, I don't think I could walk for £20k on a £250k-high board or for £8k on a £100k-high board either.

Claire, wish the outcome could have been better for you, you truly deserved it. It was such an emotional show, especially for those who know you. Chin up and enjoy your fame.

The problem with this show is that when you ask for advice, almost everybody thinks you should go on and no deal everything right to the end no matter what - which does of course make for better drama and good TV. Very few people seem to sit back and think for a moment that £20K is a hell of a lot of money. A hotel receptionist is not a very well paid job, especially anywhere up north or in 'the pool' (compared to London and the Home Counties) - I'd be surprised if she would have been on more than say £12K per annum before tax, so in that context, £20K is a HUGE offer and deserved serious consideration. She really should have dealt at that point - taking out one or both of the big numbers was bound to result in a lower offer and force her to play to the end, which is exactly what happened. She seemed to take it well and deserved more, but some of the advice seemed very suspect (Richard: "Its your lucky day!") - it's all very well having 100K and 250K left on the board, but they are just numbers at that point and not real money. The whole thing was quite sad to watch - I don't enjoy seeing people go away with little or no money, though having said that, £1500 is at least a meaningful amount. It's a lot more than certain other contestants have got!

Really gutted for Clare. Shame she didn't go away with more money.

She seems lovely, really geniune and has lit up the screens for the past month.

Hope her next step in life is a success.

Am still bewildered that she lost her job over calling someone "love" - really shows the world has gone mad. She is too good for that hotel anyway!
