I think my namesakes are cursed - only one James/Jim has completely beaten the banker, and that was with a third round deal!

That really was painful viewing, indeed I switched over to Hollyoaks (as I was watching the More 4 repeat) when the 10k went. It was just like Clair's game in that even though the offers were truly awful, there was at least hope of winning a middle red, or a deal for a high 4-figure sum with a red still in play at the end, but it was just a horrible "banker in gloat mode", as the player has no real decisions to make, and watches helplessly as the remaining reds get discovered. I would have liked to have seen the chance of a get-out with a few grand, they could quite reasonably have been turned down, but at least there should be some difficult decisions to make. I'm clearly in the camp that doesn't just want to see players forced on on poor boards!

On good baords, I do like to see players pushed on sometimes - for instance Daniel's 3rd and 4th offers were rather low for the supreme board he had, but better offers would have prevented one of the most exciting climaxes there's ever been - for entertainment value, they didn't want to see an 8-box deal like on original Brenda's board!

The only consolation is that I'd prefer a game like that where I'd have no regrets about losing the offers turned down, rather than turning down 15k, 20k, even 25k and winning a blue. I just feel so much more down when it was someone emotional like James, rather than someone who took it all really well like Ken.

Really sorry it wasn't your day James!

Bad luck, James - another victim of The Curse of the Best-Loved Players!

Absolutely horrible game, it was such a shame that the luck just wasn't there for James - it was awful to see him crying at the end - it's always better when people can laugh and joke about it when their game goes wrong, but it was so obvious James wanted the money badly and such a shame he didn't get it.

Still, he played the game to the end and wasn't seduced by any of the banker's low offers - none of them were really worth thinking about due to the poor board James had!

James - well done for providing an emotional game, although I'd have preferred it if it was happy emotions due to winning big than sad emotions as you won low.

Hope you do well in the future, I'm sure you and Jamie will.

Oh something else - why is the date no longer included at the beginning of the show? I assumed it wasn't included in Sunday's episode as I believe they're changing to Saturdays again and Noel may have said "It's Saturday" when they decided to show it on Sunday or something, but why cut the date out of Monday's episode? :?

Oh and I have to say that the new LTL system is rather clumsy and a bit unnecessary - it'd be better to have just scrapped it altogether, but I suppose it was generating so much money for them that at the time, they thought that scrapping it would be a bad idea, which is fair enough, but I think too much time is taken up at the first break with all the details about how to enter. I blame the people who complained in the first place - if they're stupid enough to waste hundreds of pounds entering a phone-in competition, then that's their problem...

That was pretty much horrible viewing from start to finish. There have been some absolute shockers over the show's history but, for me, that wasn't far behind 1p Trevor's. The destruction always feels much worse when the money would have made such a significant difference to his life.

All credit to James really (and Vicky before him) for coming on here despite the fact that they already knew that they had an awful game. If that had been me and my game had been that terrible, I think I'd probably want to forget about the show as quickly as possible!

Makes me think there may be or was some planned disruption to the schedule where the details are/were a bit fuzzy.

It should be scrapped but the fact they are persevering with it proves it must be quite a money spinner for them. I don't think gullible punters have any idea of the odds of winning and they almost deserve to get fleeced.

Banker offers

£62.50

Had I been in the Crazy Chair and The Banker offered 50p more, I'd have said DEAL.
